HANNIBAL on NBC seems amazing and therefore deserves it's own thread!

Just read on imdb that David Tennant auditioned for Lecter and was deemed excellent, but it didn't work out for some reason. Think I prefer it this way.

the joke should be over once the kid is eaten. (chap), Wednesday, 30 April 2014 15:34 (twelve years ago)

lol hannibal owns a theremin

a strange man (mh), Saturday, 3 May 2014 02:31 (twelve years ago)

i've enjoyed how ever since will told hannibal that he was finally interesting to him (as opposed to before when will had to fake it), everything hannibal has said in phony person-suit mode has been insufferably pseud-y

"button-stitching"

Roz, Saturday, 3 May 2014 05:54 (twelve years ago)

Oh man, Margot totally slept with Will so she could get pregnant and bear a legitimate male heir so she can kill her brother – that's pretty goddamn twisted. I love this show.

J3ff T., Saturday, 3 May 2014 06:42 (twelve years ago)

so will told freddie he would explain things but then we never heard the explanation? this show can be confusing sometimes

wat is teh waht (s.clover), Sunday, 4 May 2014 00:37 (twelve years ago)

I think there's still the outside chance Will killed wildlife man in self-defense, stashed his organs to later serve up to Hannibal, and Freddie is hidden away somewhere. It's Will cat fishing Hannibal.

was the burning wheelchair in 'red dragon' the book? or just the ratner adaptation

slam dunk, Monday, 5 May 2014 03:14 (twelve years ago)

wouldn't it be awesome if they just played the Red Dragon story as a killer of the week and not something of major consequence?

a strange man (mh), Monday, 5 May 2014 03:16 (twelve years ago)

lol ya the show makes it so overwhelming

probably the best tv romance since beecher & keller

r|t|c, Monday, 5 May 2014 11:12 (twelve years ago)

I love that Mads is showing that Hannibal trusts Will more and more by looking like he's about to start cracking up laughing in nearly every scene.

x-post: I think that "who's bonin' who" double sex scene was intended to work on, oh, about 17 levels.

Three Word Username, Monday, 5 May 2014 11:42 (twelve years ago)

i lol'd when the adagietto from Mahler's 5th started playing during their dinner date at the end. super romantic.

Roz, Monday, 5 May 2014 11:49 (twelve years ago)

Oh yeah. I think one of the reasons this show works so well is that it doesn't assume that it's smarter than its audience, but assumes that its audience is really really smart and looking for fun.

Herbie Handcock (Murgatroid), Friday, 9 May 2014 17:33 (twelve years ago)

Yay!! Maybe they'll get to Silence after all.

Mordy, Friday, 9 May 2014 18:32 (twelve years ago)

they'll never get to silence, they don't have the rights

balls, Friday, 9 May 2014 18:33 (twelve years ago)

Crisis was just cancelled as part of NBC's annual bloodletting so Scully can come back to Hannibal

Herbie Handcock (Murgatroid), Friday, 9 May 2014 19:31 (twelve years ago)

She's got Hannibal and The Fall. She didn't need that dumb Crisis show anyway.

carl agatha, Friday, 9 May 2014 19:35 (twelve years ago)

well what are the chances she comes back on a plate anyway

j., Friday, 9 May 2014 19:41 (twelve years ago)

That show needs to be careful not to let Hannibal eat all the women.

carl agatha, Friday, 9 May 2014 19:41 (twelve years ago)

well assuming the season opener was not a tease for an event in a future season (lame), it seems like the state will be providing his meals pretty soon?

I really hope he isn't captured this season. Free Hannibal is a lot more interesting than caged Hannibal.

building a desert (art), Friday, 9 May 2014 19:44 (twelve years ago)

I'm finding that a lot of this show just washes over me now, I have no fucking idea what is even happening most of the time

but it's so PRETTY

i love the long rambling but soothing psychobabble - you can get lost in it

Roz, Saturday, 10 May 2014 06:18 (twelve years ago)

pitt's verger feels like several batman villains rolled into one+an impression of gary oldman's verger in the 'hannibal' movie. at first i was disappointed at how clownish he was but verger is supposed to be a clown, really. he's not a mastermind, he's just really rich and evil. hannibal destroys him because he finds him gauche and boring. i watched 'hannibal' the movie again and verger's revenge plot seemed almost overtly comical, especially given how easily hannibal is able to escape it. like it's about as silly as the crotch-laser in 'goldfinger' or w/e.

I obviously take this show at face value way too much (see my complete belief that Freddy was dead...y) but I think he was sorry, at least in his own way. Hannibal wanting a friend, wanting Will as a friend, has been a theme of this show from the beginning and he thinks he has a friend in Will and so he's sorry about Abigail, in a very not-sorry, "Sorry that had to happen" kind of way.
