I kinda wonder if the larger iPhones are gonna have better battery life since they can stick in bigger batteries now. I wonder how much more power the larger displays draw

resolution independence is never gonna happen. Retina double-sizing does what Apple wants.

iOS 7 does have much better auto-layout stuff, but even so if they change the aspect ratio a lot of shit's going to break. Unless they put letterboxing on old-style apps, maybe?

stet, Wednesday, 16 April 2014 15:19 (twelve years ago)

well, they've done it once before so they may do it again

android seems like it might be more flexible because it has to be

markers, Wednesday, 16 April 2014 15:21 (twelve years ago)

that's correct, also a reason android apps are generally worse

Nhex, Wednesday, 16 April 2014 15:26 (twelve years ago)

markers, Wednesday, 16 April 2014 16:23 (twelve years ago)

markers, Wednesday, 16 April 2014 16:23 (twelve years ago)

If iOS achieves resolution independence or w/e before OSX I'm gonna murder Steve Cook

markers, Wednesday, 16 April 2014 16:34 (twelve years ago)

there's a reason os x is getting a redesign this year

markers, Wednesday, 16 April 2014 16:34 (twelve years ago)

lol @ retina having a constant definition

I half bought it until they were like "well, the iPad has retina resolution!" and then they released an iPad mini with the same amount of pixels

damn does that iPad mini have a lot of pixels in a lil' size

hey markers the number of desktops/laptops being used on the reg probably pale compared to iDevices now but you have to realize people do use them

a strange man (mh), Wednesday, 16 April 2014 16:37 (twelve years ago)

unless you are assuming that everyone just owns a Windows desktop

a strange man (mh), Wednesday, 16 April 2014 16:37 (twelve years ago)

sure, which is why this will come eventually

markers, Wednesday, 16 April 2014 16:37 (twelve years ago)

i'm on an imac right now

markers, Wednesday, 16 April 2014 16:37 (twelve years ago)

what percentage of their revenue comes from macs? right.

markers, Wednesday, 16 April 2014 16:38 (twelve years ago)

what percentage of iOS applications are developed on macs

a strange man (mh), Wednesday, 16 April 2014 16:40 (twelve years ago)

a lot. who cares?

markers, Wednesday, 16 April 2014 16:41 (twelve years ago)

Nhex, Saturday, 19 April 2014 23:18 (twelve years ago)

yeah although it looks like that article's now disputed perhaps a little bit

markers, Sunday, 20 April 2014 00:37 (twelve years ago)

not the article per se but it's primary assertion

markers, Sunday, 20 April 2014 00:37 (twelve years ago)

as others have noted, tim cook is on their board

markers, Sunday, 20 April 2014 00:38 (twelve years ago)

and has apparently been there for a long time

markers, Sunday, 20 April 2014 00:38 (twelve years ago)

the sunflower imac was announced in 2002, not 2001

markers, Monday, 21 April 2014 19:56 (twelve years ago)

if someone's comp is fucked, it's not terrible advice to send them to the genius bar, right?

markers, Tuesday, 22 April 2014 01:46 (twelve years ago)

i know that that's what it's there for, but i don't use it because i don't need to. hopefully they're competent

markers, Tuesday, 22 April 2014 01:47 (twelve years ago)

go when there's not tons of people if you can. but yes, that is where you fix your computers

imo you *should* be using it if you have a laptop and something fucks up because applecare is rad

a strange man (mh), Tuesday, 22 April 2014 01:48 (twelve years ago)

i have no idea if he has applecare

markers, Tuesday, 22 April 2014 01:48 (twelve years ago)

does he need it to use the bar?

markers, Tuesday, 22 April 2014 01:48 (twelve years ago)

my shit doesn't break! except for my ipods circa 2005/6ish or whatever

markers, Tuesday, 22 April 2014 01:49 (twelve years ago)

it depends how old the computer is, but outside of applecare they might just charge market rate

a strange man (mh), Tuesday, 22 April 2014 01:50 (twelve years ago)

i didn't know that they charged anything! i thought it was free!

markers, Tuesday, 22 April 2014 01:51 (twelve years ago)

it's a game of numbers, markers. everyone's shit breaks, sometimes.

well, it's more likely to break when your cat likes to fling your iPad off the couch, but you know what I mean.

a strange man (mh), Tuesday, 22 April 2014 01:51 (twelve years ago)

are we talking about the same thing? i think there's a possibility he has a software issue

markers, Tuesday, 22 April 2014 01:51 (twelve years ago)

afaik it's free for minor troubleshooting, and then it goes to warranty, and if you're out of warranty etc

a strange man (mh), Tuesday, 22 April 2014 01:52 (twelve years ago)

well, i just told him to show up at the bar. they'll tell him if things veer into $$$ territory before they veer there, right? like, i'm not sending him to get ripped off i hope

markers, Tuesday, 22 April 2014 01:52 (twelve years ago)

yeah, they will troubleshoot some software issues

oh for sure, they're not going to charge you a cent without authorization

a strange man (mh), Tuesday, 22 April 2014 01:53 (twelve years ago)

ok cool

markers, Tuesday, 22 April 2014 01:53 (twelve years ago)

i told him to ask anyway. thanks dude.

as i've said, my ipods are the only thing i've brought back to the store, minus a battery. they replaced at least one ipod, although i didn't bring that one in.

markers, Tuesday, 22 April 2014 01:54 (twelve years ago)

(someone else did for me)

markers, Tuesday, 22 April 2014 01:54 (twelve years ago)

I have nothing but good things to say about applecare+, btw

My entire conversation was "hey, I have applecare+, this iPad is way broken, here's your $50" and they were like "thanks I'll brb with a new one"
