I think there's something potentially insidious about "just explaining complicated stuff in an objective way" journalism, since it tends to obscure agendas and ideology. I'm reminded of that widely-cited Daily Beast piece about the Allen/Farrow molestation charges that took that "Whoa whoa, let's look at ALL the facts" approach to mask an obvious pro-Allen bias.

None of this has anything to do with "basic."

I don't know if things are as bleak as Yglasias thinks, but it's at least a strong corrective to the endless stream of articles predicting the impending collapse of the GOP. So long as they hold congress, the supreme Court and lots of state offices, it seems just a tiny bit myopic to call them dead.

feel like ezra is a more likable and otm but matt is a deeper thinker so i dunno
