journalists in my fb feed are really annoyed at the unanimous positive coverage vox has been getting

it is a v pretty website

i think the front page is kinda ugly

u shndt have to "launch cards" why cant u just scroll through them on the bottom of the page, and then when you do launch it overlays the page except that not really clear except a lil exit button

swear I've seen a site with a similar graphical layout, but it was a few years back
the name vox irritates me

i actually like those launch-cards, but yeah, you should have the option to scroll thru them if that's yr preference.

vox is a nice website. but how does it make money? it isn't a subscription service, and i don't see any ads on the pages.

right. i spotted an ad on second-look, but there aren't many (maybe just the one i remember). normally i expect to see almost all the available "real-estate" occupied by ads. this site seems different, in that regard.

I think there's something potentially insidious about "just explaining complicated stuff in an objective way" journalism, since it tends to obscure agendas and ideology. I'm reminded of that widely-cited Daily Beast piece about the Allen/Farrow molestation charges that took that "Whoa whoa, let's look at ALL the facts" approach to mask an obvious pro-Allen bias.

None of this has anything to do with "basic."
