Ned Stark's massive broadswoard Ice.

Insane Prince of False Binaries (Gukbe), Monday, 7 April 2014 06:11 (twelve years ago)

They made a big deal of showing where the sword came from at the start of the episode. same one that ned beheaded dude with at start of the series and that he in turn got whacked with when his time came.

lol i thought that was just part of the "previously on" flashback

thanks!

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 7 April 2014 06:19 (twelve years ago)

er yeah that scene was not on hbogo i guess

linda cardellini (zachlyon), Monday, 7 April 2014 09:28 (twelve years ago)

I can never remember stuff like that on this show. Nevertheless, entirely entertaining

akm, Monday, 7 April 2014 14:11 (twelve years ago)

Maureen Dowd revealed she is one of you in Sunday's column, gooble gobble

Finally not half-expecting a little drool out of Jon Snow's dumb face anymore. Interested in that development.

That's because Kit Harrington finally figured out how to keep his mouth from hanging open all the time.

the mountain

lag∞n, Monday, 7 April 2014 16:54 (twelve years ago)

Mountain #3, right?

Ned Zeppelin (Leee), Monday, 7 April 2014 17:01 (twelve years ago)

cast dying off faster than the characters. new daario was a steep descent from the first guy, who was perfect.

Roberto Spiralli, Monday, 7 April 2014 17:03 (twelve years ago)

yeah mountain #3, daario #2, why does no one want to act on this show

lag∞n, Monday, 7 April 2014 17:09 (twelve years ago)

http://www.bustle.com/articles/19185-what-happened-to-game-of-thrones-daario-naharis-why-the-actor-changed-for-season-4
honestly didn't even catch that this was supposed to be that guy.

I made a grave mistake with my balloon at the end (forksclovetofu), Monday, 7 April 2014 17:11 (twelve years ago)

Why didn't they try to match the hairstyle? That would have helped.

Evan, Monday, 7 April 2014 17:25 (twelve years ago)

Actor who plays new Daario also plays the cute horndog producer guy from Nashville. Maybe he sings in this season

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 7 April 2014 17:29 (twelve years ago)

Didn't clock he was the junkie from Treme

Insane Prince of False Binaries (Gukbe), Monday, 7 April 2014 17:31 (twelve years ago)

Felt the original Daario was very Romance Novel Cover-esque so I'm okay with that

Insane Prince of False Binaries (Gukbe), Monday, 7 April 2014 17:31 (twelve years ago)

True but I was pulled out of the episode whenever he had a scene because they look so different.

Evan, Monday, 7 April 2014 17:37 (twelve years ago)

Probably won't be a problem next episode though.

Evan, Monday, 7 April 2014 17:37 (twelve years ago)

i could watch a whole episode of the hound saying 'cunt' tbh

bizarro gazzara, Monday, 7 April 2014 21:18 (twelve years ago)

We really need to make that Hound & Arya spinoff happen

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Monday, 7 April 2014 21:28 (twelve years ago)

Arya gonna Hound us?

Evan, Monday, 7 April 2014 21:39 (twelve years ago)

Hound Arya

Karl Malone, Monday, 7 April 2014 21:41 (twelve years ago)

their conversation abt naming swords was lol

lag∞n, Monday, 7 April 2014 21:45 (twelve years ago)

are those of us who haven't read the books but have read wikis about the events which took place before the books allowed to speculate on this thread? feels like a spoiler grey zone. I have a "theory" but it's probably a well-known one amongst the book readers. I suppose it's best kept to myself.

ryan, Monday, 7 April 2014 22:06 (twelve years ago)

for any who haven't read those wiki pre-histories I recommend it--sort of a very cool high romantic story in it's own right.

ryan, Monday, 7 April 2014 22:07 (twelve years ago)

Heh we could start a THIRD thread for people in that situation. I can probably guess which theory you're referring to, which I don't think the show has really emphasized.

Ned Zeppelin (Leee), Monday, 7 April 2014 22:07 (twelve years ago)

let's just say it's about parentage.

ryan, Monday, 7 April 2014 22:09 (twelve years ago)

i read the wikis of what happens in the books and i demand a thread

lag∞n, Monday, 7 April 2014 22:10 (twelve years ago)

Also, anyone else catch the Hound's "A man must have a code" shout out to The Wire?

Ned Zeppelin (Leee), Monday, 7 April 2014 22:11 (twelve years ago)

yes. it was funny.

also is SIGNIFICANT CHARACTER's parentage even in question? i mean i know it's yet to be resolved but there only seems to be one credible theory. maybe it needs its own thread.

resulting post (rogermexico.), Monday, 7 April 2014 22:13 (twelve years ago)

it is def the only theory that makes sense once you read the backstory.

ryan, Monday, 7 April 2014 22:14 (twelve years ago)

And both the Hound and Omar have facial scars! xp

Ned Zeppelin (Leee), Monday, 7 April 2014 22:17 (twelve years ago)

the theory is so foreshadowed in the books it's unreal and it would make no sense for it to be any other combination. probably best to go to the book thread.

gyac, Monday, 7 April 2014 22:38 (twelve years ago)

SPOILERS if anyones wondering what theyre so mysterious about http://goo.gl/K7HuFG

lag∞n, Monday, 7 April 2014 22:45 (twelve years ago)

those cannibal guys could use some cooking lessons

Number None, Monday, 7 April 2014 22:47 (twelve years ago)

who the fuck eats arms though, seriously?

I mean, I'm not a cannibal so I could be mistaken, but I wouldn't imagine there's a lot worth eating on a human arm.

gyac, Monday, 7 April 2014 22:50 (twelve years ago)

Wings!

Insane Prince of False Binaries (Gukbe), Monday, 7 April 2014 22:56 (twelve years ago)

Where are these wikis and are they spoiler free?

Insane Prince of False Binaries (Gukbe), Monday, 7 April 2014 22:58 (twelve years ago)

Definitely avoid the ASOIAF wiki, as it's current with the books.

polyphonic, Monday, 7 April 2014 23:08 (twelve years ago)

haha yeah I should stress i inevitably find out more than I wanted. but on be main one there a big tab for "history" or something like that. "spoiler-free" is probably very relative but it's all basically the record.

ryan, Monday, 7 April 2014 23:24 (twelve years ago)

I figure this show has maybe 1 or 2 more seasons of high ratings before people get tired of being endlessly strung along and things become uncontrollably convoluted and pointless

How dare you tarnish the reputation of Turturro's yodel (Shakey Mo Collier), Monday, 7 April 2014 23:34 (twelve years ago)

well good thing they're only planning for three more seasons

Clay, Monday, 7 April 2014 23:35 (twelve years ago)

GRRM said there were only going to be three books once

Number None, Monday, 7 April 2014 23:38 (twelve years ago)

feel like this is set up such that no conclusion will be satisfying. feels like it's kinda meant to go on forever, what with the whole starting in the middle tactic and the disposability of the characters

How dare you tarnish the reputation of Turturro's yodel (Shakey Mo Collier), Monday, 7 April 2014 23:40 (twelve years ago)

those cannibal guys could use some cooking lessons

Audience expectations for cannibals to be culinary artisans could be a result of watching Hannibal, some of these fuckers just want to chomp on yer bits!

xelab, Monday, 7 April 2014 23:41 (twelve years ago)

the theory is so foreshadowed in the books it's unreal

tbh I didn't pick up on the theory until I started trawling ASOIAF wikis AKA while waiting for MOAR BOOKS/EPISODES.

Ned Zeppelin (Leee), Monday, 7 April 2014 23:41 (twelve years ago)

Yeah I certainly wouldn't have clocked on my own. So much backstory being flung at you in the books it's hard to know exactly what is significant.

the joke should be over once the kid is eaten. (chap), Tuesday, 8 April 2014 01:12 (twelve years ago)

Dunno if this has all been over above already but one of my favourite things about the show is that two of my favourite characters are actors I used to be familiar with but didn't recognise them until someone else told me. Jerome Flynn from Robson and Jerome Rory Mcann, who was in an old Scottish porridge advert and a wheelchair user in the sitcom Book Group.
Hope this wasn't posted already.
