here the real question: do the burgers have sliced beets on them?

sunny successor, Sunday, 23 March 2008 07:11 (sixteen years ago) link

if by 'beets' you mean 'fingernails' then 'yes'

remy bean, Sunday, 23 March 2008 07:15 (sixteen years ago) link

Completely fucked-up sleep schedule here, must have been due to the work week and my damn alarm being on this morning for no good reason -- I spent nearly all the time between 5 pm and now asleep and now feel restless. Bah.

Hay u guyz

Bodrick III, Sunday, 30 March 2008 00:44 (sixteen years ago) link

Don't get paid 'til Monday, mates and gf all out on piss, having some popcorn to cheer me up. Could have borrowed £50, but this will only mean being short again this time next month. Feels weird, cause I always at least go to the local spoonies.

What's your excuse?

Bodrick III, Sunday, 30 March 2008 00:47 (sixteen years ago) link

Yeah I'm having money problems meself. Which isn't actually all that common for me, so it feels strange to suddenly have to skimp on groceries, for one thing. *shrugs* I'll survive, though. Just no more drunken iTunes madness, etc.

I'm drinking cheap beer at home.

Bimble, Sunday, 30 March 2008 00:53 (sixteen years ago) link

No booze for me, I have half a bottle of Smirnoff left but I'm saving it in case my mates fancy a couple when they get back. ITV's Nightwatch Mysteries looks quite good tonight anyway.

Bodrick III, Sunday, 30 March 2008 01:03 (sixteen years ago) link

Home, reading pharmacology textbook. It does not get any lamer!

Will be mixing drinks after the kids go to bed to ameliorate the patheticness.

Sara R-C, Sunday, 30 March 2008 01:21 (sixteen years ago) link

Blew a bunch of dough at Amoeba and the CLUI bookstore this afternoon, so I'm in for the night. Current entertainment options:

- 2 x CD of Holly & The Italians demos and unreleased tracks (purchased at Amoeba)
- Last episode of Ashes To Ashes (finished downloading when I was out)
- Grey Gardens and random episodes of Futurama sitting on the Tivo
- Moog Moogerfooger analog delay pedal that I need to get up to speed on

Elvis Telecom, Sunday, 30 March 2008 02:19 (sixteen years ago) link

No way! I've been thinking really heavily about Holly & The Italians lately! I should pull that CD-R out right now, damnit.

Anybody else turning off their lights at 8pm for the Earth global warming thing? I've only got a half hour left before it hits 8pm here.

Bimble, Sunday, 30 March 2008 02:29 (sixteen years ago) link

What's the 2XCD called, Elvis?

Bimble, Sunday, 30 March 2008 02:31 (sixteen years ago) link

i am drinking by myself and cleaning my apartment listening to bruce springsteen and having a great fucking time

bell_labs, Sunday, 30 March 2008 02:52 (sixteen years ago) link

i just mopped and then danced around to candy's room

bell_labs, Sunday, 30 March 2008 02:53 (sixteen years ago) link

My daughter finally went to sleep (my wife, too). Just now beginning to listen to some music. Tunnel Of Love sounds perfect, actually. Quiet Saturday nights are alright. Then again, I'm old.

Daniel, Esq., Sunday, 30 March 2008 02:56 (sixteen years ago) link

im gonna be 29 in a few weeks. that's old, right?

bell_labs, Sunday, 30 March 2008 02:59 (sixteen years ago) link

No. You're young. I'm 40.

Daniel, Esq., Sunday, 30 March 2008 03:00 (sixteen years ago) link

(Actually, 40 isn't old. Sometimes I just feel old, I guess).

Daniel, Esq., Sunday, 30 March 2008 03:01 (sixteen years ago) link

What's the 2XCD called, Elvis?

It's called Demos Federico

I've been listening a lot to her first two records and didn't know that this was out there.

Elvis Telecom, Sunday, 30 March 2008 03:02 (sixteen years ago) link

Previous options might be preempted because the original Thomas Crown Affair just started on TCM.

Elvis Telecom, Sunday, 30 March 2008 03:03 (sixteen years ago) link

ooh is the original good? i have only seen the remake. art theft is so attractive for some reason!

bell_labs, Sunday, 30 March 2008 03:16 (sixteen years ago) link

I like both versions - the original one has tons of abstract style but not the same kind of tension/suspense the remake does.

Elvis Telecom, Sunday, 30 March 2008 03:25 (sixteen years ago) link

I am in CT, watching preseason baseball on TV, where I will have to get up and change beds when 15-month-old niece awakens around 5:30.

The original TC Affair is watchable but very silly cotton candy (Faye Dunaway as world-class 23-year-old model-beautiful insurance investigator).

Dr Morbius, Sunday, 30 March 2008 03:27 (sixteen years ago) link

I didn't know "The Windmills Of Your Mind" was from this movie.

James Redd and the Blecchs, Sunday, 30 March 2008 03:29 (sixteen years ago) link

it won the Best Song Oscar! what magnificently abominable lyrics.

Dr Morbius, Sunday, 30 March 2008 03:33 (sixteen years ago) link

I never paid attention to the lyrics until just now.

James Redd and the Blecchs, Sunday, 30 March 2008 03:34 (sixteen years ago) link

why did summer go so quickly, was it something that you said?

Dr Morbius, Sunday, 30 March 2008 03:35 (sixteen years ago) link

Apparently my course of study up to this point has been a little neglectful of "The Windmills Of Your Mind."

Am I the only one up on this thread who actually had a social engagement I was supposed to go to but was so beat that I decided the best course of action was to stay home and take it easy - which ended up meaning lots of old country music videos on youtube. Of course there is also the technicality was that I wasn't really sure if I was invited, but maybe somebody didn't have my address. In any case, I made some noise to some people about intending to try to go, I'm sure I'm going to catch hell tomorrow. Hopefully I'll be well rested enough to take it.

James Redd and the Blecchs, Sunday, 30 March 2008 03:40 (sixteen years ago) link

Played some poker and broke even, then relisted a few items on Amazon Marketplace. Do I really want to get back into that snakepit?

Rock Hardy, Sunday, 30 March 2008 04:25 (sixteen years ago) link

I totally sonned that douchebag Jon Darneel on ILM, check it out.

wanko ergo sum, Sunday, 30 March 2008 04:42 (sixteen years ago) link

Wacky.. I didn't know that Hal Ashby worked on the original Thomas Crown (he was the editor)

Elvis Telecom, Sunday, 30 March 2008 04:46 (sixteen years ago) link

Yeah, I noticed that too. Morbius kind of right about this movie, but it's still fun to watch out of corner of eye.

James Redd and the Blecchs, Sunday, 30 March 2008 04:54 (sixteen years ago) link

Samba,
Sugarloaf,
Jungle,
Piranha.

Don't you see? There's no way out.
You've done too good a job, Vicky.

James Redd and the Blecchs, Sunday, 30 March 2008 04:55 (sixteen years ago) link

Had some vodka and cokes with mates when they got back and set the world to rights via that magic of slagging off how shit the UK is nowadays. (Post-Thatcherite malaise, you know the score) So... wasn't a total wash out.

Bodrick III, Sunday, 30 March 2008 04:58 (sixteen years ago) link

OK, just put the WKCR country music festival back on.
