South Park: Classic or Dud?

Looks like a ton of fun, but play clips where the guy spends five minutes changing hair styles or mentions that he's "only" 9 hours in really underscore why videogames are not for me, alas. Like, I wish!

I really like the fake 80s songs that play when you meet the goths. All the music in this game is pretty cool.

Yeah, the goth kids were almost my favorite bit where Trey & Matt tipped their hands a bit too much about going to high school in the 80s. The episode where the goth kids encounter the Twilight/sparkly vampire crowds is funny both for how they resolve the situation, and for the fake Joy Division/Chameleons UK song they play over that scene.

Trey & Matt have a long history of making fake goth songs, is what I'm saying. Hell, they had on Robert Smith as a guest voice in the 2nd season.

The dungeons in this are great! Way better than FFX or Skyrim. Lots of unnecessarily Rube Goldberg puzzles that bring to mind maybe "A Link to the Past". Of course, you can dress up as Link!

But yeech the gross-out humor and offensive stuff is like a big fat zit on the face of a really awesome RPG.

Lol I had a lot of trouble with that one too. T'was worth it for all the epic farting humour to come from it though... Matt and Trey you did it again you epic bastards.

It always gets on my nerves when modern games do a "retro" level and suddenly you are seeing 16-bit sprites mixed in with 8-bit sounds and "oh do we really have to re-draw the main characters? let's just use the HD 3d models from the rest of the game." Lazy.

Season finale needed more of U2 menacing people with Xmas gifts, but there was a lot of stuff left on the whiteboard to get through.

it just occurred to me that I didn't see a single episode of the past season and I didn't miss it at all

I once say Trey Parker in line for beer at a Dallas Cowboys game. It was... unexpected.

Caught the new one last night, probably the worst episode I have ever seen. It's like they wrote the episode while waiting in the dentist office reading this summer's editions of Newsweek.

I'm having trouble seeing political correctness as a problem for anyone other than the people complaining about it. Which, there are so many things in the world to complain about, just seems mostly self indulgent. Also watching this yesterday with the most recent school scandal being the Muslim kid busted for his clock. Schools are too politically correct yet also cops will just randomly arrest a 9th grader for racist reasons. Bad timing.

Maybe they will love it in the Creepy Liberalism thread.

yeah that was really terrible. it's weird because over the last few seasons they gradually moved the show's overall message towards an umbrella "don't be an asshole," albeit often delivered in assholish terms, whereas this went right back to that unfunny kneejerk zone they've been better at avoiding? idk maybe I'm imagining the improvement. I admit I did laugh at the ending bit, wherein everyone literally got to have their cake and eat it, too.

I thought the "PC frat dude" idea was kind of funny at first, but then again I think they were trying to portray advocates of political correctness to be bullies in a sense? Getting in peoples faces when they say anything of any level discriminatory or "problematic".

It's the extremes of both sides of this argument that are the loudest. That's the problem with a cartoon making commentary- the other side on any issue will always be the cartoony extreme.

It would have been a better portrayal to have cartoony tumblr inspired PC frat bullies fighting cartoony reddit MRA advocates or something, while everyone else kind of stays out of it and has a rational discussion.

ILXors selectively missing the many many parts of that episode where they actually side/agree with PC culture/goals is just as bad as "south park republicans" thinking it was a huge shot at PC CULTURE GONE MAD

I wonder if the makers of south park were to notice yr standard ilxor taking a standard ilx position on any one thing might they feel that perhaps that position had been noted, in its good and bad, in the majority of south park shows, my guess is that they might feel that it had so I'm wondering why standard ilxors are taking standard ilx positions itt.

the only part of the episode you could take "straight" was the elderly neighbors (aka Parker and Stone, increasingly estranged from their target audience) saying "welp, this is happening again, gonna blow over soon enough!"
