Thought this poll was great up until the top ten - diverse, different from other end-of-year lists I've seen. So Enough Said/Before Midnight has come like a punch to the gut.

see now ugh The Act of Killing.
Did Enough Said make a lot of Top 10 lists? xposts
― Insane Prince of False Binaries (Gukbe), Monday, 3 March 2014 21:26 (ten years ago) link
I'm going to claim that one as a Danish production.
Yay, a foreign film in the top 10!
Saw it last saturday, it's pretty good. Not like, the fourth best film of the year, or in any way the best/scariest documentary (Wang Bing, you savages!) but good!
― Frederik B, Monday, 3 March 2014 21:28 (ten years ago) link
It was my number 1.
― Insane Prince of False Binaries (Gukbe), Monday, 3 March 2014 21:30 (ten years ago) link
Act of Killing is more of a number 9 movie than a number 4 movie
XPOSTFair point, I'm sure you are right abt Enough Said's uniquely high placing in the ILX 2013 Film List.
― Ward Fowler, Monday, 3 March 2014 21:31 (ten years ago) link
I don't know maybe it did place highly elsewhere. I was asking!

Leviathan is an American production, afaik. Contrarily, Joshua Oppenheimer is American, but it's a Danish-British-Norwegian co-production, with the Danish studio as the main backer. Again, afaik. Also, neither Steve McQueen nor Alfonso Cuaron (whom I'm guessing will place) is American, right?
― Frederik B, Monday, 3 March 2014 21:47 (ten years ago) link
McQueen is a Brit and Cuaron is Mexican.
― Insane Prince of False Binaries (Gukbe), Monday, 3 March 2014 21:49 (ten years ago) link
Off-topic, but was Cuaron the first hispanic to win an Oscar, btw?
― Frederik B, Monday, 3 March 2014 21:49 (ten years ago) link
A Directing Oscar, I mean.
