President Frankenstein (kingfish), Sunday, 2 March 2014 10:04 (twelve years ago)

First appearance is interesting. He never dominates, and wins primarily because his opponents made huge bets in Final (and were wrong).

k3vin k., Sunday, 2 March 2014 15:12 (twelve years ago)

maybe just the first 3 mins haha

k3vin k., Sunday, 2 March 2014 15:14 (twelve years ago)

Wow, totally forgot Ken Jennings won 75 games! The next in line after him won 19.

Josh in Chicago, Sunday, 2 March 2014 16:26 (twelve years ago)

I wonder how Alex Trebek would do as a contestant?

Josh in Chicago, Sunday, 2 March 2014 16:41 (twelve years ago)

THat girl cut off Alex mid-sentence. What a scumbag. What a VILLAIN

, Sunday, 2 March 2014 23:31 (twelve years ago)

ppl should cut alex trebek more often, with knives if they have em, what a dickhead

rhyme heals all goons (m bison), Sunday, 2 March 2014 23:32 (twelve years ago)

I want to give arthur a hipster makeover

Get him some moscot frames, skinny tie, dog print shirt :))))

, Sunday, 2 March 2014 23:36 (twelve years ago)

Wow Semret. Ease off on the buzzer there

Dawn you're jumping categories & not going in order. Making it Hard for Alex... and all the viewers playing along at home!!!!!!

, Sunday, 2 March 2014 23:40 (twelve years ago)

what are Alex Trebeck's favorite foods?

del griffith, Sunday, 2 March 2014 23:43 (twelve years ago)

I think he'd get steamrolled.

Taking Devil's Tower (by mashed potatoes) (WilliamC), Sunday, 2 March 2014 23:48 (twelve years ago)

how much repetition has there been in Jeopardy questions over the years? zero? a bit? what % of questions in an episode would he have heard before as host? not that he'd necessarily know or remember, i just wonder.

MISTERSNRUB (some dude), Monday, 3 March 2014 00:00 (twelve years ago)

7% of all questions are about the Etruscans

del griffith, Monday, 3 March 2014 00:08 (twelve years ago)

I think Alex would do pretty well as a contestant

frogbs, Monday, 3 March 2014 00:31 (twelve years ago)

I bet he knows a lot more about state capitals and birds than most Canadians.

Josh in Chicago, Monday, 3 March 2014 03:09 (twelve years ago)

chu talks about how he studies the topics that come up most often (states and presidents etc) and that apparently gives him an edge, no doubt alex has that shit seared into his brain

a commentary on self-absorbed youth culture in the social media age (zachlyon), Monday, 3 March 2014 09:38 (twelve years ago)

you don't think he's just on autopilot up there

j., Monday, 3 March 2014 12:43 (twelve years ago)

or got his mind on his cornball repertoire instead of on the cluez

j., Monday, 3 March 2014 12:43 (twelve years ago)

Maybe. But he's seen more Jeopardy shows and strategies than anyone else. Even if he forgot half of it he'd have an edge.

Josh in Chicago, Monday, 3 March 2014 13:02 (twelve years ago)

but lots of jeopardy contestants do that. they're pretty much expected to at this point, aren't they?

fact checking cuz, Monday, 3 March 2014 18:43 (twelve years ago)

didn't rosie perez study?

i'm not sure! obv i don't mean that it's the only thing that's given him an edge, he's obv a very smart dude and his strategies seem to be working out, but from that AVC interview he made it sound like he took an extra step or two with the most common categories

a commentary on self-absorbed youth culture in the social media age (zachlyon), Monday, 3 March 2014 20:03 (twelve years ago)

so no chu this week?

Mordy , Monday, 3 March 2014 20:05 (twelve years ago)

yup, i will skip "'90s Week"

Nhex, Monday, 3 March 2014 20:07 (twelve years ago)

is blossom a contestant is that what that means

Vedder vs. Corgan vs. Weiland

Montgomery Burns' Jazz (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Monday, 3 March 2014 20:11 (twelve years ago)

Arthur is back tonight!

Murgatroid, Monday, 10 March 2014 21:20 (twelve years ago)

Could be wrong on this, but I do believe that if Arthur wins tonight he will move into sole 3rd place all time for longest Jeopardy streaks, after Ken Jennings at 75 games and Dave Madden at 20. Nobody else is higher than the 10 games Arthur is at now.

justfanoe (Greg Fanoe), Monday, 10 March 2014 21:30 (twelve years ago)

too close!

do a lot of people really go for the +$1 bet?

Nhex, Monday, 10 March 2014 23:56 (twelve years ago)

Today's clues seemed harder than usual, but then they ended with one of the easiest Final Jeopardy clues I've seen in ages (I'm assuming that at least most of us on ILX would have gotten it).

Murgatroid, Tuesday, 11 March 2014 00:00 (twelve years ago)

Definitely note one of the easiest FJ clues in ages. Earlier in Arthur's run, I remember "Dating from 1973, this 4-letter suffix indicates a person or thing that has become associated with public scandal". Now that's an easy FJ. I can't imagine anybody who is able to qualify for Jeopardy missing that.

justfanoe (Greg Fanoe), Tuesday, 11 March 2014 00:19 (twelve years ago)

erg, definitely NOT

justfanoe (Greg Fanoe), Tuesday, 11 March 2014 00:19 (twelve years ago)

Fine, second easiest. Or maybe I'm just overestimating the answer's popularity (come on, people who qualify to get on this show must know who he is, at least).

Murgatroid, Tuesday, 11 March 2014 01:00 (twelve years ago)

Chu never does well on the music questions. One clue was "J.D. _____ co-wrote 'Best of My Love,' 'Victim of Love,' and 'Heartache Tonight.'" Chu guessed Salinger.

Montgomery Burns' Jazz (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Tuesday, 11 March 2014 14:29 (twelve years ago)

And last night he guessed Franny and Zooey for a question about Faulkner's The Sound and the Fury (I think it was).

Not knowing anything about the Eagles is an admirable plus in my book.

bi-polar uncle (its OK-he's dead) (Phil D.), Tuesday, 11 March 2014 19:58 (twelve years ago)

lol I couldn't ID those titles as Eagles songs much less name an Eagle aside from Don Henley

continually topping myself (flamboyant goon tie included), Tuesday, 11 March 2014 20:58 (twelve years ago)

But would you assume "Heartache Tonight" was a Salinger short story?

Montgomery Burns' Jazz (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Tuesday, 11 March 2014 21:03 (twelve years ago)

should've guessed "(The Other) J.D."

Doctor Casino, Tuesday, 11 March 2014 21:43 (twelve years ago)

Terrified of missing the episode when someone beats Arthur.

Murgatroid, Tuesday, 11 March 2014 23:24 (twelve years ago)

he mentioned something about "flying back out" i think on twitter yesterday which leads me to believe he's safe for this week of shows, but maybe i read into that incorrectly

k3vin k., Tuesday, 11 March 2014 23:25 (twelve years ago)

should've guessed "(The Other) J.D."

― Doctor Casino

If he'd guessed "J. D. Other" Alex may have given it to him!
