i actually like those launch-cards, but yeah, you should have the option to scroll thru them if that's yr preference.
― Daniel, Esq 2, Tuesday, 8 April 2014 13:55 (twelve years ago)
Ezra Klein’s first big piece for his new venture (heretofore known as Project X) at Vox is on a topic that quite naturally worries the former Wonkblogger: the limits of evidence-based reasoning when it conflicts with political allegiances increasingly based on polarized ideologies.
Klein will almost certainly get some blowback from progressives for projecting a false equivalency of Left and Right in exhibiting “identity protection” in the face of inconvenient evidence, http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/political-animal-a/2014_04/party_ideology_and_evidence049794.php

vox is a nice website. but how does it make money? it isn't a subscription service, and i don't see any ads on the pages.

right. i spotted an ad on second-look, but there aren't many (maybe just the one i remember). normally i expect to see almost all the available "real-estate" occupied by ads. this site seems different, in that regard.

I think there's something potentially insidious about "just explaining complicated stuff in an objective way" journalism, since it tends to obscure agendas and ideology. I'm reminded of that widely-cited Daily Beast piece about the Allen/Farrow molestation charges that took that "Whoa whoa, let's look at ALL the facts" approach to mask an obvious pro-Allen bias.
None of this has anything to do with "basic."
