u shndt have to "launch cards" why cant u just scroll through them on the bottom of the page, and then when you do launch it overlays the page except that not really clear except a lil exit button

lag∞n, Tuesday, 8 April 2014 13:41 (twelve years ago)

the name vox irritates me

i actually like those launch-cards, but yeah, you should have the option to scroll thru them if that's yr preference.

Daniel, Esq 2, Tuesday, 8 April 2014 13:55 (twelve years ago)

Ezra Klein’s first big piece for his new venture (heretofore known as Project X) at Vox is on a topic that quite naturally worries the former Wonkblogger: the limits of evidence-based reasoning when it conflicts with political allegiances increasingly based on polarized ideologies.

Klein will almost certainly get some blowback from progressives for projecting a false equivalency of Left and Right in exhibiting “identity protection” in the face of inconvenient evidence,

vox is a nice website. but how does it make money? it isn't a subscription service, and i don't see any ads on the pages.

i don't see any ads on the pages

wasn't ge or gm their "launch sponsor"?

markers, Sunday, 13 April 2014 23:51 (twelve years ago)

look at the right side of the site, above where it says "#pressing"

markers, Sunday, 13 April 2014 23:54 (twelve years ago)

right. i spotted an ad on second-look, but there aren't many (maybe just the one i remember). normally i expect to see almost all the available "real-estate" occupied by ads. this site seems different, in that regard.

waterbabies (waterface), Tuesday, 22 April 2014 16:43 (twelve years ago)

I think there's something potentially insidious about "just explaining complicated stuff in an objective way" journalism, since it tends to obscure agendas and ideology. I'm reminded of that widely-cited Daily Beast piece about the Allen/Farrow molestation charges that took that "Whoa whoa, let's look at ALL the facts" approach to mask an obvious pro-Allen bias.

None of this has anything to do with "basic."
