that whole csi monsters unit thing goes away like, almost immediately after crazy angel ppl
Heartening! Okay. I'm on board and feeling positive about it.
I will miss Scott Thompson, though.

There definitely is unbelievably many serial-killers in this show, but that's part of the world. It's like, the most depressing series ever, it makes me cry and gives me anxiety issues. And yet I love it.

Can one of the mega-fans of this show provide me with a brief precis of the state of play as of the end of season one? I seem to have have forgotten everything except the mushroom people, the tower of corpses, and Eddie Izzard.

― j., Saturday, 22 February 2014 03:27 (twelve years ago)
I sort of remember that Will's been arrested for the murders that Hannibal probably did, and he himself thinks he did them right? And everyone else thinks he did, but maybe not really? And then there's the daughter of that guy he killed knocking around who maybe killed some people too? It's a complicated show.
― I wish to incorporate disco into my small business (chap), Saturday, 22 February 2014 03:28 (twelve years ago)
SPOILERS OBVIOUSLY
Nah, he spends most of the last few episodes thinking he's responsible, but by the very end he knows what's up. Abigail's dead, though; Hannibal feeds her to his psychiatrist.
OKAY THE SPOILERS ARE OVER NOW

Yeah I probably need to rewatch the whole thing before S2 starts.

this show is very silly. watched four episodes and i am not in. tone is so odd, there are some things that are working for me and so many that are not.

Wait, what does Gillian Anderson's character know about Hannibal? I didn't revisit S1 so I've forgotten.
Very enjoyable premiere so far.

i think she… only knows what she could surmise as his therapist? but she sometimes acts like she saw accurately through his person-mask, beyond just realizing that it was one?
― j., Saturday, 1 March 2014 03:50 (twelve years ago)
I ask because she was like, "You're putting me in the difficult position of lying about you", and I was like, wait, she knows? What does she know?
― Murgatroid, Saturday, 1 March 2014 04:01 (twelve years ago)
oh, i forget, she's aware of the inappropriateness of his patient relationships, and i think about someone she knew he was with (will?) when she was asked about it by the feds, though she kept it quiet just on general principle / concern for hannibal?
― j., Saturday, 1 March 2014 04:06 (twelve years ago)
Yeah, I think that's it. Thanks.
― Murgatroid, Saturday, 1 March 2014 04:17 (twelve years ago)
Man the sound design on this show is so unsettling
― Quinoa Phoenix (latebloomer), Saturday, 1 March 2014 06:56 (twelve years ago)
agh this show is so grossss.
didn't hannibal save gillian anderson from a violent patient before, under peculiar circumstances? jack tried to question her about something that she wouldn't disclose last season iirc.
― reddening, Saturday, 1 March 2014 07:08 (twelve years ago)
Yeah I think they intimated that he did something very twisted to the patient that attacked her

― Clay, Saturday, 8 March 2014 03:13 (twelve years ago)
The Following was renewed for a third season and I'll be upset if that awful piece of shit survives and this serial killer show doesn't get a third season.
― Murgatroid, Saturday, 8 March 2014 04:06 (twelve years ago)
I felt pretty queasy.
Guessing Gillian had to go because of that other show she's about to be on + other commitments. Loved the ambiguity going on at the end of last season so it feels like an abrupt shift but her scene with Will was good so all is forgiven.
― Insane Prince of False Binaries (Gukbe), Saturday, 8 March 2014 04:07 (twelve years ago)
Gillian Anderson's scenes have been amazing these past two episodes but they didn't really advance the plot in any way except to allude to some past incident(s) and if she's gone for good, I don't even know why they bothered to bring her back this season at all. Of course, if she's not gone, she can come back to give us some closure on what she and Hannibal allude to all the time but otherwise, it was all a bit pointless (though a well-acted kind of pointlessness, I guess).
― Murgatroid, Saturday, 8 March 2014 04:35 (twelve years ago)

That coldopen, sweet merciful Christ. They was basically The Human Centipede minus the anal fixation but with much more convincing effects. (But no nudity, 'cause heaven forbid.)

argh *cold open
― Simon H., Saturday, 8 March 2014 07:10 (twelve years ago)
I do like how the show is taking its time (in this case, at least three episodes) to get Will out of prison. I feel like most other shows would have freed him within the first episode of the new season.
― Murgatroid, Saturday, 8 March 2014 07:29 (twelve years ago)
xp my first inclination was to ask WHY did they have to show the flesh ripping -- why couldn't they just cut away and let the sound effects convey the horror? but then i had to admit it really wouldn't pack the same wallop, and seeing how much he suffered made me want him to survive the chase scene SO BADLY.
