Tonite I asked the dude I always order from at my neighborhood subway "hey so how are those flatizzas selling?" and he just made the gasface and shook his head and when I pressed him for details he just said "you don't want that, man"

My family would eat subway after church every week bc buy one get one foot longs. Once when we were the only people in there, the dude working brought out some weird pizza thing he made with ingredients and gave it to us for free. Said he was going to take it to corporate. This was in the 90s. Hope that dude made this happen.

I had one of the McDonalds "premium wraps" the other night because it was the only thing open by work. I got the grilled chicken one and it just had this vague STINK to it. Like it didn't smell old or gone bad, it just smelled very slightly gross.

The greatest off-brand Subways innovation was the dude in Annapolis in the 90s who had Old Bay on hand for the "Seafood and Crab" (surimi) subs. Even when THE MAN told him to stop, he kept a shaker around for certain guests in the know. I salute you, failed Subway franchisee of my youth!

Nice pretzel bun - definitely a food laboratory trend. I remember fondly the Wendy's pretzel bacon cheeseburger I had a few months ago - the bun was one of the best parts of the burger imo.

Here you can see the sausages - a big disappointment compared to the ad

They're literally just breakfast links on two breakfast sausage patties (though they claim to be 'beef'), doused in sweet mustard (sandwich would have been improved by some sharper brassica)

The pretzel bun is also a bit behind the Wendy's iteration - not enough texture

back when i briefly drove a cab i took a bouncer, one of the largest men i've ever seen in my life, through the wendy's drive through. he ordered ten of these, along with six large orders of fries, and remarked on their quality.

"Don't worry, five are for breakfast tomorrow." he said, unprompted.

I actually think the real version looks better. It makes more sense now that I know they're breakfast sausages. Would eat.

i kept meaning to start a 77 thread for cab driving stories but i only ended up doing it like september and half of october before i got a better job where the chances of getting stabbed were significantly lower. (it's at a law office so the likelihood is probably not 0% but much closer than driving weirdos around a weird city.)
