It's been falling into the sea for the 15 years or so I've been going down there. Is that not gradual enough for you?

"righteous indignation shit" (Branwell Bell), Wednesday, 5 February 2014 13:53 (twelve years ago)

Moar bombscare yesterday, just around the corner too. Had forgotten the last one was only 2 month ago.

Did they scrap that shitty Brighton eye idea?

Internet Alas (wins), Saturday, 15 February 2014 18:30 (twelve years ago)

I was down there having a look earlier today, not much water left but pebbles and seaweed all over the place, so you could tell it must have been quite something. Did notice that the only kiosk under the arches that didn't have sandbags against the door was Eva Petulengro's, clairvoyant my arse.

Your arse is never a medium, etc

ineloquentwow (Craigo Boingo), Saturday, 15 February 2014 19:19 (twelve years ago)

you can always be relied on for a wisecrack though

night boat to mega therion (NickB), Saturday, 15 February 2014 21:06 (twelve years ago)

wins: as far as I know the financial backer pulled out of the i360 (really?) and now the council are considering getting a £35m loan to build it themselves. I would quite like to go up the thing once, if it was cheap, but I’m not convinced it is a sound long term idea.

I think my favourite pointless viewing tower is this one: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gateway_Arch

Chewshabadoo, Sunday, 16 February 2014 12:06 (twelve years ago)

Anything interesting going on this weekend? Will be in town tomorrow afternoon to Sunday afternoon.

Just noise and screaming and no musical value at all. (Colonel Poo), Thursday, 27 February 2014 12:33 (twelve years ago)

Looks like a bit of a quiet weekend, not sure that there are any good gigs on at all

eardrum buzz aldrin (NickB), Thursday, 27 February 2014 12:45 (twelve years ago)

Oh well. Thanks anyway.

Would suggest a Poo FAP but I've got an early morning on Sunday

eardrum buzz aldrin (NickB), Thursday, 27 February 2014 13:39 (twelve years ago)

Sweet Williams & Henry Blacker at the Fitz for free on Friday, but I probably won't make it; at a party on Saturday.

emil.y, Thursday, 27 February 2014 15:22 (twelve years ago)

From the descriptions I found, it sounds like Sweet Williams & Henry Blacker might be something I'd enjoy, but Mrs Poo is not so sure. Thanks anyway Emil.y!

If you are intersted in house and techno - snd who isn’t? - Ed’s vinyl are doing a pop-up shop with in-store DJs, and are also doing a one-off record-cutting service. Apart from that, not much on.

Chewshabadoo, Thursday, 27 February 2014 19:15 (twelve years ago)

three weeks pass...

RIP Borderline:

emmeline skankhurst (NickB), Tuesday, 25 March 2014 11:51 (twelve years ago)

RIP. Though they did say they were closing last year, so it's been coming for some time.

emil.y, Tuesday, 25 March 2014 15:05 (twelve years ago)

Yeah, I went in the other week and they had more on sale than usual, but no actual indication they were closing soon.

Chewshabadoo, Tuesday, 25 March 2014 21:36 (twelve years ago)

if anyone fancies a sunday lunchtime pint or two this weekend, i've got a +1 for the esben & the witch/thought forms gig at the hope (12-3pm). might hang around in town watching the football/eating after that cos it's stephen o'malley w/ aluk todolo at the GDS later on too (note to self: don't forget yr earplugs)

narcissism of vas deferenses (NickB), Tuesday, 8 April 2014 10:38 (twelve years ago)

Maybe, but don't keep it aside for me as I'm horrendously sick right now so shouldn't be committing to anything. Not going to the SO'M show, either, wrote it off as a bit too expensive.

emil.y, Tuesday, 8 April 2014 11:05 (twelve years ago)

aw no, hang on in there em! o'malley is a bit pricey i guess, also i know i'm going to spend half the time having a panic attack that station concourse is going to come crashing down on our heads (note to self: maybe a hard hat too)

narcissism of vas deferenses (NickB), Tuesday, 8 April 2014 11:16 (twelve years ago)

I am spinning Italo on Friday at Fitz and have a friend down but he is leaving on Saturday morning, so could possibly be interested but can’t commit.

I’m also playing at the Green Door Store next Thursday before Good Friday - house/techno/disco type stuff, pretty excited but hoping it will stay busy!

Chewshabadoo, Tuesday, 8 April 2014 17:28 (twelve years ago)

Shame about Borderland. I remember it when it was upstairs in the old Jubilee Shopping Centre!

Borderline, even.

In London next Thursday but good luck w/ that Matt! Be good to see you at some stage in the near future if you can't do Sunday anyhow. Are you lot all Sleaford Modding?

It's Pablum Time with (NickB), Wednesday, 9 April 2014 16:49 (twelve years ago)

Definitely. I will try and come along on Sunday, why is it on so early?

Chewshabadoo, Thursday, 10 April 2014 19:52 (twelve years ago)

Brighton, I was in you this afternoon. You was lovely! You have the best sounding pebbles anywhere. Every time I see you, you have a little less of the West Pier and it makes me a bit sad. I lust after your 20-hole vegetarian boots so hard. Maybe next time!

Branwell Bell, Thursday, 10 April 2014 20:17 (twelve years ago)

Apparently Sleaford Mods has sold out already? WTF?

emil.y, Thursday, 10 April 2014 23:29 (twelve years ago)

why is it on so early?

i dunno! i think it's kind of nice myself, but i'm trying to be a daylight hours person at the moment. possibly the antithesis of everything you hold dear, i know i know

It's Pablum Time with (NickB), Friday, 11 April 2014 17:06 (twelve years ago)

you have a little less of the West Pier and it makes me a bit sad

i mostly think it looks really shit now imo, and the sooner it falls down the better really. but every now and then you get a foggy day down there and it looks amazing looming up out of the gloom and its mystery is restored once more

emil.y: did you not get a ticket for SM? can you wangle one somehow?

It's Pablum Time with (NickB), Friday, 11 April 2014 17:10 (twelve years ago)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WckSWlEf2nM

EATW have surpassed themselves w/ their new stuff imo, been good to see them getting better and better and better

It's Pablum Time with (NickB), Friday, 11 April 2014 17:16 (twelve years ago)

I'm pretty rubbish with getting advance tickets, though we do have tickets for Melt Banana, whenever that is. Not sure who's promoting SM, and I'm not very comfortable pestering for preferential treatment even with good mates, so I guess I've got to abandon that. Pretty sure "you know my brother and we've had a couple of conversations and a general nodding acquaintance" wouldn't really truck with the band, either, heh.

emil.y, Friday, 11 April 2014 17:21 (twelve years ago)

well, if you get desperate i'm prepared to surrender mine cos i feel like they're more your band y'know. just lemme know if you need it

It's Pablum Time with (NickB), Friday, 11 April 2014 17:23 (twelve years ago)

Aw that's nice of you but I'll be okay, I saw them in the Chameleon in Nottingham a while back, which is the proper environment for them, obviously. Besides which, I'm going to be skint as shit by the end of the summer so it's probably a good thing in disguise. Playing in bands costs so much money.

emil.y, Friday, 11 April 2014 17:29 (twelve years ago)

oh well, just say if you change yr mind. you'll have to teach me some nottingham things to shout

It's Pablum Time with (NickB), Friday, 11 April 2014 20:37 (twelve years ago)

I may be too late, but I can’t get through on your mobile - if that ticket is still going spare I would be up for coming along.

Chewshabadoo, Sunday, 13 April 2014 10:35 (twelve years ago)

cool! i'm watching the marathon to the moment and i'm gonna walk down after that, so should be there at 12:40 ish. see you outside? it's at the hope btw

It's Pablum Time with (NickB), Sunday, 13 April 2014 10:40 (twelve years ago)

Sounds good!

Chewshabadoo, Sunday, 13 April 2014 10:44 (twelve years ago)

Tickets for the Ex are reportedly running low, if anyone hasn't grabbed one.

emil.y, Monday, 21 April 2014 13:32 (twelve years ago)

Got mine the other day after persuasion by Nick.

Chewshabadoo, Monday, 21 April 2014 17:29 (twelve years ago)

turns out you didn't miss sleaford mods after all. one of em - possibly jason - went awol in south london and didn't show up

ricky don't lose that number nine shirt (NickB), Saturday, 26 April 2014 22:08 (twelve years ago)

support act was some gurning young chancer from york trying to do a shirtless sleaford mods jr, but just ended up as an unfortunate cross between iggy pop and lee evans

ricky don't lose that number nine shirt (NickB), Saturday, 26 April 2014 22:10 (twelve years ago)

my boring saturday night

ricky don't lose that number nine shirt (NickB), Saturday, 26 April 2014 22:11 (twelve years ago)

hey does anyone else keep seeing ben wheatley aound town? i *think* i've seen him a couple of times now in the past 7 days. unless he has a local lookalike that hangs out in the north laine...

ricky don't lose that number nine shirt (NickB), Saturday, 26 April 2014 22:14 (twelve years ago)

I’m guessing you are back home now?

Chewshabadoo, Saturday, 26 April 2014 22:15 (twelve years ago)

yeah, came back via the mike chapman gig at the westhill

ricky don't lose that number nine shirt (NickB), Saturday, 26 April 2014 22:16 (twelve years ago)

Ah yeah, I heard that Sleaford Mods got cancelled. Very strange.

Would not recognise Ben Wheatley if he came up to me and said "hi, I'm Ben Wheatley" so I have no idea.

I'm being rubbish and hungover and not shouting at fascists today.

emil.y, Sunday, 27 April 2014 14:39 (twelve years ago)

http://dorkshelf.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads//2014/03/Ben-Wheatley-F2.jpg

^ this guy, but wearing a black knitted hat and a shabby black coat

have not been actively anti-fascisting either, but have been hoping they all fall down the hole that's opened up in the seafront road, except ideally they would end up in a vat of steaming poo instead of the four tuna war

ricky don't lose that number nine shirt (NickB), Sunday, 27 April 2014 15:47 (twelve years ago)

why is there a nationalist march in brighton of all places
