Sewing stuffed toys for the class project. May have overstuffed though. May need to change stuffing too, used an old duvet as had been suggested at one point in class. I'd washed it recently since it had been lying around with holes in for ages.

Thinking of signing up for a dressmaking course at same place. Could pick up a lot more techniques as long as I can make something other than dresses.

The Book of Mormon. Saw it in camera version on Friday but camera version of theatre performance not as good as film. Harder to get angle right I guess, looking down in curved theatre rather than up in straight one.
But hilarious show. Now to see it live live.

Working out what to do with the flat. Got new furniture in shape of table & chairs so need to work out how to make things fit better. Managed to really hem myself in while ripping music for new walkman. Also need to work out how best to house cds that have been ripped. Need another dimension for storage. Or better shelving system.

Anybody who answers this question with anything other than 'trying to create peace on Earth' is a selfish cunt in my opinion.

Adam, what is the best way to obtain a sufficient variety of Perler beads?? It seems like you can buy a grossly overpriced 12-pack of assorted colors, or you can buy a cheap huge bucket that is all mixed together. Is there any other way? I really want to make EarthBound perler art.

http://www.amazon.com/Perler-Beads-1-000-Count-Tan/dp/B000I0RPUU

This seems like the best bet; 1000-count bags for arounde $2.50 each. I'd just have to pick which colors I'd use the most

vylvyt ylvis (Stevie D(eux)), Saturday, 8 February 2014 20:50 (twelve years ago)

Cool! Go for it! I'm pretty new to it, but I went ahead and bought the bucket of random colors, because I'm cheap and in a way I enjoy sorting those things. I put together a cool Charlie Brown yesterday but during the process realized how little black beads there were in the bucket. I'm guessing it's the most high in demand, so I would say get the bucket and if you run low, you can buy packs of individual beads on Amazon. Getting a nice, big, transparent grid board is worth the investment.

Emperor Cos Dashit (Adam Bruneau), Saturday, 8 February 2014 20:54 (twelve years ago)

James Burke's 1970s series Connections. I just watched through the whole set over the last couple of days while continuing to sew stuffed toys for the class project. Interesting to see this programme nearly 36 years later. The historic parts presumably remain for the most parts valid but this is now reflectively stuck in history itself. Wonder if anybody would approach things the same way now. Or is this an influence on the way tv shows have presented themselves since?

Inside the Animal Mind
Chris Packham show that's been on BBC2 for the last few weeks showing how animals see the world and showing levels of intelligence I hadn't been aware of. For example it seems that the whole Crow family have what he refers to as mental flexibility so they can not only learn to handle a given problem but also apply what they're learnt to other problems. It showed a Raven learning how to open a puzzle box Packham had devised so rapidly they had to slow down the camera. Also a jay learning to get maggots out of a water filled container by dropping stones into the water until it rose enough to get their beak in. THis after having been shown the principle on a totally different set up, a stone dropped onto the top of a box would release a worm from the bottom of the box. So they could take that and figure out water displacement and also differentiate between using this on a water filled container whereas they recognised they couldn't in a sand filled one.
Shows that more animals have the ability to use tools than it has been traditionally supposed. I don't know why the monkey using a twig to get termites from a mound was only noted in 1962. Whether it was dismissed before or just not seen. Also occured to me that you could make a really cool sci fi story based on the idea that animals hadn't had the ability to use tools prior to that date and are rapidly growing in intelligence.

Boardwalk Empire
Just watched through seasons 2&3 over the last week. Hoping there will be more before long though haven't checked if there is already any. Not sure how long I've had those. Maybe when I wake up.

xps yo bro I am a PowerPoint expert, you should ask me questions

OK - how do I link/gracefully transition to LARGE video files and play them full-screen? I'm talking 100-200gb HD files, so far too large for embedding but stored on the same drive? I hate clicking out of PPT and into Quicktime so that everyone can see my shit.

it is just my first name and last name all one word

vylvyt ylvis (Stevie D(eux)), Tuesday, 18 February 2014 20:38 (twelve years ago)

And admrl know that if you are linking to a file in a PowerPoint that is on removable storage, you will run into problems bcz it will point to the video file w/ a full path that incl's a drive letter, so if you plug into a diff machine and it assigns a diff drive letter it won't be able to find the video

there are ways to, like, use Package for CD and go in and modify some settings files to point to something in the same directory but sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Linking to video files on anything portable is just a disaster, really.

You could also try embedding a Windows Media Player object on the Developer tab if it's a non-native video format but that's got its own set of issues.

African material in 6 metre bundles that are going to be shirts. Getting them dead cheap cos they're clearance, that's 1/2 or 1/3 price as elsewhere.

Sewing in general, just starting 2 courses in it. Hoping to start making my own clothes at last.

Western tv shows, mainly of the last 10years. Love the clothing.

Horizon just got it installed and I think the bundle saves me €€ on the non bundle I had before while broadband speed is 6+ times faster . Was knocking the net off til I reconfigured u-torrent.

Are there 2 threads with similar titles? Thought this was where I was talking about Rembetika.
