"This is me! This is the real me! I'm artistic!"

Montgomery Burns' Jazz (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Saturday, 18 January 2014 19:11 (twelve years ago)

feel like there've been at least four eps exactly like this but the sperm cylinders was great

my whole family is catholic so look at the pickle i'm in (zachlyon), Sunday, 19 January 2014 00:22 (twelve years ago)

yeah every "FEELINGS! YELLING!" scene on this show is the same and euchhhhhh 'Childish Tycoon' but funny episode anyway, Goggins killed it

Algerian Horsebeater (some dude), Sunday, 19 January 2014 00:54 (twelve years ago)

Whoa, trashy post-apoc 80s Britta is hawwwwt

Who is DANKEY KANG? (kingfish), Friday, 24 January 2014 06:50 (twelve years ago)

Miss you already, Troy Barnes!

Johnny Fever, Friday, 24 January 2014 07:01 (twelve years ago)

yup :(

Nhex, Friday, 24 January 2014 07:02 (twelve years ago)

though hot Britta :)

Nhex, Friday, 24 January 2014 07:02 (twelve years ago)

sometimes i think she kinda got unfairly shafted on this show with Annie being the phenom

Nhex, Friday, 24 January 2014 07:02 (twelve years ago)

It was clear in the beginning that Jeff/Britta was supposed the pair the rest of the Greendale world revolved around, or at least that's what NBC had planned for, but it quickly became a brilliant ensemble. In that sense, Britta got shafted, but I think she still plays an important part.

Johnny Fever, Friday, 24 January 2014 07:08 (twelve years ago)

supposed *to be

Johnny Fever, Friday, 24 January 2014 07:09 (twelve years ago)

under normal sitcom rules Jeff and Britta would have married at the end of ssn3 and this year their toddler would be enrolled in Greendale's Neil Patrick Harris Memorial Child Genius Program.

I got the glares, the mutterings, the snarls (President Keyes), Friday, 24 January 2014 11:46 (twelve years ago)

This was so much better than another paintball episode. ;_; at the end as well.

Leonard releasing the butter was probably my favourite moment although we were robbed of a chance to see the Dean whimpering while stranded on the table as the school gets trashed again.

Matt DC, Saturday, 25 January 2014 13:51 (twelve years ago)

Last two eps have done a good job starting at a familiar place but then taking an emotionally affective left turn from the eps they recall. Really impressed they've kicked into a strong season 5 without getting to do a season 4.

I love that they took no effort hiding the paramount lot when the childish tycoon rolled away from the set.

da croupier, Saturday, 25 January 2014 16:17 (twelve years ago)

banks is fucking killing it on this show

balls, Saturday, 25 January 2014 16:27 (twelve years ago)

OTM. This is seriously as good as the show has ever been right now.

Matt DC, Saturday, 25 January 2014 16:29 (twelve years ago)

no no no, let's not get crazy here ppl

balls, Saturday, 25 January 2014 16:30 (twelve years ago)

waiting for someone to show up and tell us that ssn 4 was better

I got the glares, the mutterings, the snarls (President Keyes), Saturday, 25 January 2014 17:07 (twelve years ago)

Abed's "I'm sorry but I'm totally crazy" speech took my by surprise and was really effective. Also effective was distilling Troy's goodbye episode down to the characters who got closest to him, highlighting the differences in connection between Abed (knowingly wallowing in childhood) and Britta (transitioning into adulthood).

SHAUN (DJP), Saturday, 25 January 2014 18:04 (twelve years ago)

Wow this was great! Really amazing surprise ending. So good. Gonna miss Donald Glover on this show big time.

Emperor Cos Dashit (Adam Bruneau), Saturday, 25 January 2014 20:31 (twelve years ago)

"You never went to a star. Not in one episode."

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 25 January 2014 21:24 (twelve years ago)

so basically it sounds like community's got a good chance of a sixth season if the network doesn't give up on a comedy night, as they're in the same boat as last year where they hate community/parksandrec numbers but the new shows bombed and at least they're syndication-ready and cult favorites. but if NBC gets the Thursday NFL package and/or cuts down their number of comedy spots even further, parks & rec is already basically renewed so community would probably get dropped.

da croupier, Saturday, 25 January 2014 22:07 (twelve years ago)

xp actually not true at all, Troy. for shame!

Nhex, Saturday, 25 January 2014 22:14 (twelve years ago)

they totally styled chang after rufio from hook, right?

reddening, Sunday, 26 January 2014 00:20 (twelve years ago)

locker boys

mookieproof, Sunday, 26 January 2014 00:59 (twelve years ago)

Man, when Harmon writes Abed he is basically the most tragic character on television...

Frederik B, Sunday, 26 January 2014 01:15 (twelve years ago)

season 4 guys were so bad at getting abed this almost felt like showing off

worthless lucubrations w/ ill-concealed apathy bro (zachlyon), Sunday, 26 January 2014 05:50 (twelve years ago)

otm

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Sunday, 26 January 2014 05:51 (twelve years ago)

A limey here. I am almost finished on Season 3 should I just skip Season 4 entirely?

Chewshabadoo, Sunday, 26 January 2014 09:40 (twelve years ago)

Yep. The episode Jim Rash wrote was pretty good, but you're fine just hopping.

(D1CK$) (sic), Sunday, 26 January 2014 11:43 (twelve years ago)

If you're bored you can always go back, but you won't lose anything. Just know that Pierce leaves at the end of the season.

Nhex, Sunday, 26 January 2014 19:33 (twelve years ago)

Also, Troy and Britta were a couple, or at least they were when the storyline sort of called for it.

Montgomery Burns' Jazz (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Sunday, 26 January 2014 19:46 (twelve years ago)

i bailed after two episodes but from what i've heard they cashed in on some of the stuff harmon had spent years kinda building towards - troy and britta, jeff's dad - but didn't really do anything w/ it right?

balls, Sunday, 26 January 2014 20:16 (twelve years ago)

Yeah, the episode with Jeff's dad was one of the shittier ones, made moreso by the fact that his dad wasn't played by Bill Murray (who Harmon had envisioned for the role from the beginning).

Montgomery Burns' Jazz (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Sunday, 26 January 2014 20:20 (twelve years ago)

yeah, but honestly they were never gonna get Bill Murray. has he done any TV in decades?

Nhex, Sunday, 26 January 2014 23:43 (twelve years ago)

troy and britta was the real waste, imo

Nhex, Sunday, 26 January 2014 23:43 (twelve years ago)

The Sophie B. Hawkins Dance episode was good too.

jmm, Monday, 27 January 2014 00:07 (twelve years ago)

oh yeah, how could i forget! Man, too bad due to the pattern of Abed's love interests, we'll never see Brie Larson again

Nhex, Monday, 27 January 2014 01:58 (twelve years ago)

the dance one was the only one i thought was up to old standards.

Merdeyeux, Monday, 27 January 2014 06:18 (twelve years ago)

I want them to bring back Eliza Coupe

Insane Prince of False Binaries (Gukbe), Monday, 27 January 2014 07:43 (twelve years ago)

with Troy gone a string of romantic partners for Abed is surely the only way to go.

Merdeyeux, Monday, 27 January 2014 07:50 (twelve years ago)

The dance episode, and the Physical Education Education episode are both good, you can probably skip the rest.

The only thing that didn't really work with me about the last one was Abed thinking the lava was real. Kinda hoping we were done with 'Abed has weird visions' (and maybe we are now).

Matt DC, Monday, 27 January 2014 12:25 (twelve years ago)

not sure abed really thinks the lava is real so much as abed is willing to suspend his disbelief somewhat profoundly

Clay, Monday, 27 January 2014 12:39 (twelve years ago)

Just watched the first four episodes. Didn't much like the ass crack bandit one, other than that a total return to form. The gag density is almost of a peak era Simpsons level.

I wish to incorporate disco into my small business (chap), Monday, 27 January 2014 13:09 (twelve years ago)

I prefer the gag density of the first two episodes to the conceptualnessness of the last three - the last one was fun and noisy but there weren't a lot of actual jokes. Overall back on second season form though (i liked the first season best).

Chuck_Tatum, Monday, 27 January 2014 14:11 (twelve years ago)

Abed's Nic Cage freakout was the funniest thing I've seen for ages.

sexy cat otm

Nhex, Monday, 27 January 2014 14:42 (twelve years ago)

"taking kickbacks from Big Buzzkill" is my new favorite line.

Elvis Telecom, Tuesday, 28 January 2014 07:52 (twelve years ago)

This show has it all: Roxy Music, two Labyrinth references, and the return of Brie Larson.

Montgomery Burns' Jazz (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Friday, 31 January 2014 02:42 (twelve years ago)

i was so happy about that! it's like they answer my internet whining prayer above.

also, if they can keep Chang at this level for the rest of the season, I can almost forgive him for the last few years, he's tearing it up

Nhex, Friday, 31 January 2014 02:44 (twelve years ago)

Haha, yeah, when I saw her the first thing I thought was "Nhex will be so happy!"

otm re: Chang. I was a tiny bit worried when he started crying about the bear down bit, thinking he was hatching another scheme, but it worked out pretty brilliantly.
