you can appreciate a person's work, or aspects of it, while acknowledging they're horrible humans. honoring the person, rather than the work, while they're present implies more approval of the person than I think some people are comfortable with.

i generally dont really care if artists are horrible monsters im just in it for the art but to say that woody allen doesnt pretty obvs have some issues around sexualizing children is just pretty willfully oblivious of both woody allen and the world
