Maybe I'll put on Loop and regress back to my teenage years.

played a noize/improv show at the Red Room, then went to a dance party at the Golden West and got drunk and caroused with friends, then walked home through the snow with our houseguests and grabbed pizza on the street, then to our home to eat the pizza and drink cognac (mixed gastric messages) and chatting

So E, was it great? Worth going to etc.? I still haven't decided what to do.

Too Into Dancing to Argue (ENBB), Sunday, 1 March 2009 14:30 (fifteen years ago) link

i thought it was pretty good! not sure if it was worth $22 (7 dollars more than i've paid for a show in what seems like years), tho? i mean, it was exactly what i needed for my boring saturday night. plus it got me into the walker, which i haven't been to in ages. will def be going back later this week to actually appreciate some fucking art

How rock'n'roll I am: I was going to see some bands on Saturday night but I was too tired after going to my Nan's 90th birthday lunch...

(Still, I made it out on Friday, which was just as well as I was the only paying attendee for the first two bands of three. LOL at the random passers-by who only turned up for the last guy, however, as he turned out to be on some serious Suicide-ripoff outsider music tip, stopping and starting his minidisc of angry synth backing tracks mid-track to loud clunks over the PA, then intoning the same lyrics about YOU SMELL NICE over the top of each one. I think they stayed for about ten minutes. Hell, in theory I like that kind of thing, and I was wondering if I could take any more)

i have read an internets, ate an underwhelming stir-fry, took a trip to the next suburb to retrieve my bike from work, and am now listening to the cricket.

i'm going to watch something from my backlog of unwatched dvds (possibly a scanner darkly, which i just got for 80% off at circuit city). i'm also going to cook something involving puff pastry, goat cheese, and one of any number of green vegetables i have in the house. staying in is the new going out.

Guzzling some wine, working on a thesis, looking for a job, watching Castle on ABC, sort of want to die.

my friend was gonna come to the city to get $1 cocktails but it's kinda rainy and I'm kinda tired and it might happen but it's probably not gonna happen and we're probably gonna spend the night texting back and worth about whether it's gonna happen or not and then it's not gonna happen.

iatee, Sunday, 22 March 2009 02:14 (fifteen years ago) link

lol at hoos

I like the idea of Black Flag playing YOUR BORING SATURDAY NIGHT, but to match the bore of this night it would have to be Third Eye Blind or something.

I f'd up the word rear (Z S), Sunday, 22 March 2009 02:17 (fifteen years ago) link

I would totally listen to the third eye blind version

iatee, Sunday, 22 March 2009 02:19 (fifteen years ago) link

ya bro easy w/ 3eb zings

abe being busy (k3vin k.), Sunday, 22 March 2009 02:21 (fifteen years ago) link

I knew my 3EB zing would fall flat...
OK, to match the bore of this night it would have to be LIVE or something.

I f'd up the word rear (Z S), Sunday, 22 March 2009 02:23 (fifteen years ago) link

I would listen to the live version but only if they were covering third eye blind or black flag's song

iatee, Sunday, 22 March 2009 02:27 (fifteen years ago) link

I totally have the third eye blind version in my head right now and it's really good

YOUR BOOOOOOOORING SATURDAY NIGHT

I f'd up the word rear (Z S), Sunday, 22 March 2009 03:53 (fifteen years ago) link

I went out for dinner in a restaurant that had a certain mausoleum like atmosphere. Then I came home, looked at the Internet, and watched a DVD of "Aquirre - Wrath of God".

I spent it getting annoyed with Marvel for canceling Ultimate X-Men and Ultimate Fantastic Four, and Jeph Loeb for ruining everything.

Earl of Gothington Manor (Bimble), Sunday, 19 April 2009 10:02 (fifteen years ago) link

one month passes...

I've spent all of tonight cooped up in my bedroom going between: 1) rocking to Neil Young bootlegs and Billy Joe Shaver awesomeness, 2) paging through job ads for shit I'm not qualified for or have already applied for, 3) being really lame and watching youtube demos of guitar amps and pedals.

So now I'm gonna go fry some hoki fillets, AND, if I'm feelin SULTRY, I may even break out the ironing board.

I have a fairly low-key Saturday morning if that helps.

Ned Raggett, Saturday, 23 May 2009 14:03 (fifteen years ago) link

(xpost)Don't fault ya, I'm just envious. We haven't had a living room dance party in a while. Job + money for booze helps tho.

It helps a little!

hi Ned, what's for breakfast?

rainy, Saturday, 23 May 2009 14:06 (fifteen years ago) link

I...don't know. I'm about do some laundry then go to my favorite coffee/breakfast spot on the weekends and I'll see what I want to order. Hooray random inspiration!

for me it looks like packing things in boxes.

no idea what tonight's going to look like, but i have a cold so i'm not gonna rock 'n' roll too much. i did buy a couple of stevie nicks shawls this afternoon, so i can guarantee i will rock a little, at least.
