nah, he often rejigs early ideas (as do many writers/comedians/creative types, right?), and the density of ideas in his vines suggests that he's still 'got it'. he was saying a few days ago how he'd love to remake the benjamin skits from his world of glasgow but no tv person would fund the creation something so vicious.

remember thinking 'hm bit weak' about the first ep of s1 and s3 but subsequent viewings shows on a par with the rest, all part of a piece. falconhoof was good in this and the mr mulvaney is A+.

think he struggles with a theme,the "live" episode he did also fell a bit flat.also when he gets sentimental it can be a bit cloying.

really curious as to what he's going to do next. fingers crossed for a weird limmy sitcom.

this was ok! weird when he started doing the what would you do? sketch at the end and repeating just about all of the elements of the original but really sped up and not funny

Scottish comedian Limmy is working on a comedy book.

The writer and actor, real name Brian Limond, first came to prominence via his online blogs and videos. He has since gone on to create three series of the award-winning BBC Scotland sketch format Limmy's Show! and recently contributed filmed inserts for Charlie Brooker's Weekly Wipe.

Limond is now working on Daft Wee Stories, which is being described by publishers as a "inventive and funny" book.

Daft Wee Stories will feature a mix of "stories, thoughts, musings and anecdotes" from the comedian. The publication will present readers with a mix of short and long stories, with "stupid ones next to thoughtful ones, some written in the first person, some in the third person, some with illustrations, and some the size of a tweet sitting in the centre of the page".

Jack Fogg from publishers Century says: "Limmy has one of the most original, thoughtful and brilliant comic minds I've encountered. He can flip from side-splittingly funny to genuinely profound in the space of a paragraph. I'm sure that with Daft Wee Stories we're seeing the start of what will become a very exciting and unique writing career."

Daft Wee Stories will be published in hardback in July 2015, and as a paperback in 2016.

he's doing readings & signings for the book so going all-out to get him booked in for a manchester slot. he's loath to do any actual live sets after the 2 or 3 he did, but would be so great if this was a step toward that proper

I'd always assumed that Limmy's work was a big outlet for his madness and that day to day he'd be quite diffident and socially anxious, but on his book readings he's just been affably commanding the attention of hundreds of people like an old school game show host, so naturally funny and at ease the whole time

Is the book any good? The deadpan bombshell he dropped in the middle of the second story he read last night had people next to me doubled over crying with laughter for minutes afterwards

I downloaded the audiobook, it's good. No doubling over for me yet but I've drawn glances with the occasional snort-laugh. It's exactly as it says, daft wee stories, often grotesque, often with ironic punchlines you can spot a mile off, lots of great one-liners. Not earth-shattering but it's lovely to hear him read, he's a rare storyteller

what was his answer to "do you think you deserve to be world famous?"? saw him in manchester, was amazing but then again i'm a signed-up ultrafanboy. kinda wish someone would ask him about his estranged ex-con brother's claims that he came up with most of limmy's material, but don't know if that'd be going too far. he has been v candid in the q&as though, talking about how 'eckied dad' is so funny because of the line 'i'll be with you soon hen', as his mother is dead.

started rewatching limmy's show s3 in advance and was shocked by how poor episode 1 is, esp the first half. fairly sure it picks up as the series goes on, but there are some dismal dismal sketches in that one

Whatever the truth about him using his brother's ideas, I find a lot of his brother's own videos/audio unpleasant. Especially interviewing that crying woman on the street, unless it wasn't his brother.

S3 ends really, really strongly iirc

xp. his brother is a bitter, bigoted (jailed for racist abuse of a journalist online), unfunny arsehole. clearly a fantasist. the idea that limmy stole anything from him is absurd, as evidenced by a) how incredibly unfunny his brother is and b) the sheer length and breadth of original, funny content limmy has created over the last decade or so.

like his twitter bio used to bemoan the fact that limmy had stolen his name, ignoring the fact that it's incredibly common in the west of scotland for brothers to have the same surname-based nickname at school.

I've not seen the brothers stuff and I dare say there were a few jokes shared earlier that Limmy made use of but the guys been making comic sketches for about 10-12 years now

limmy a wee bit of a hard-sell for north americans wi his accent and aw, ive managed to get a couple of people into his stuff though.

the first series of limmy's show doesn't hold up that well, he's said himself it seems a little slow-paced. subsequent series he makes more cuts, sketches are a bit more kinetic.

Show gets better when he gets better supporting actors in.
