That reddit thread is suprisingly excellent, because it crystallises everything I've never been able to explain about WHY this whole subset of guys is WEIRD. And its not even just "fedora guy", its this whole stilted, persona-ridden "I am being a gentleman" awkward play-act. Ive actually met quite a few guys like this (lol roleplayer goths), its... sweet but very sad.
