how come you moved to london conrad

Ward Fowler, Thursday, 12 December 2013 11:43 (twelve years ago)

Fizzles - sounds good, I work pretty close to Central Station so I'm sure we can find somewhere that suits us, even on a Friday night.

Ward Fowler, Thursday, 12 December 2013 11:46 (twelve years ago)

i'm an economic migrant ;)

conrad, Thursday, 12 December 2013 11:58 (twelve years ago)

conrad, Thursday, 12 December 2013 16:11 (twelve years ago)

Bumping for any other Glasgow ILXors who might enjoy fapping tonight

(Fizzles - I sent you an email via ILX with my mobe no on it)

Ward Fowler, Friday, 13 December 2013 10:04 (twelve years ago)

cheers, Ward. Yep, be good to see all and sundry. I've got a crippling hangover, excitingly, but I think the only thing that's going to get me through it is another drink.

Fizzles, Friday, 13 December 2013 14:57 (twelve years ago)

Um, that's a Glasgow landline number I think, unless I'm being particularly dense?

Fizzles, Friday, 13 December 2013 14:59 (twelve years ago)

Right, this is on. Sounds like it's going to be fairly sedate - it's felt like someone's been having a funeral in my brain today and at times I've wanted to curl up in a little ball on the floor - but be good to see people. Will be in the station-convenient Stereo as soon as I can get out of work (probably about quarter/half past five).

Fizzles, Friday, 13 December 2013 15:33 (twelve years ago)

Sorry, I have been extraordinarily careless in my budgeting and have zero money for fun between now and Christmas Eve. Enjoy sitting on Stereo's tremendously uncomfortable chairs or sofas!

ailsa, Friday, 13 December 2013 15:50 (twelve years ago)

cheers ailsa - feel free to come along for an Xmas pint courtesy Santa tho if you want!

Fizzles, Friday, 13 December 2013 16:29 (twelve years ago)

Would love to, but even getting into Glasgow is a wee bit of a trek. Thanks for the offer though!

ailsa, Friday, 13 December 2013 16:39 (twelve years ago)

Small but perfectly formed FAP - very good fun, great to see Ward again after a six-year or so hiatus. Slept like a log on the sleeper back to London.

Fizzles, Saturday, 14 December 2013 10:34 (twelve years ago)

Yep, hope it's a longer and larger FAP next time, Fizzles - and that there isn't another six-year gap.

man i wish my people had this many words

j., Sunday, 23 February 2014 22:32 (twelve years ago)

Some of those are spelled wrong, mistranslated or just not particularly Glaswegian (stopped reading about half-way down). ILX compendium here:

This category contains Scots pejoratives

ailsa, Monday, 24 February 2014 01:06 (twelve years ago)

what's glaswegian for 'crowdsourcing, go figure'

"cunts, eh?"

Ian Glasper's trapped in a scone (aldo), Monday, 24 February 2014 08:19 (twelve years ago)

I know I'm only 12 miles away from Glasgow and originally from EK which is mini-glasgow, so its possible lanarkshire/renfrewshire gets lumped in to it , but loads of those words are used here.
Gallus is a great word that no one uses it now. Even my EK friends say they havent heard it used in 30 years. Its a great Francie & Josie word though. Bring it back!

Scooby Doom (۩), Monday, 24 February 2014 11:39 (twelve years ago)

The Art School is currently on fire with black smoke billowing down Sauchiehall St

boxedjoy, Friday, 23 May 2014 12:43 (twelve years ago)

This is just horrendous. I was only up in Glasgow last week and walked right past it. I've known the GSoA practically all of my life. Apparently it was caused by an overheating projector. Jesus Christ, rebuild the whole thing in minute detail and to hell with the cost.

Here he is with the classic "Poème Électronique." Good track (Marcello Carlin), Friday, 23 May 2014 13:10 (twelve years ago)

I can't imagine anything more devastating than seeing the building where all your academic work is housed going up in flames, I feel so bad for the people there.

boxedjoy, Friday, 23 May 2014 13:39 (twelve years ago)

^^
rooting for you glasgow

schlump, Friday, 23 May 2014 14:34 (twelve years ago)

library and archive can't be in good shape and all that work gone too :-(

Angkor Waht (Neil S), Friday, 23 May 2014 14:40 (twelve years ago)

Does anyone know how much of the building went on fire?

Robert Adam Gilmour, Friday, 23 May 2014 14:46 (twelve years ago)

I have seen chatter on Facebook and Twitter it started in the basement but the pictures seems to show flames at the very top

boxedjoy, Friday, 23 May 2014 14:50 (twelve years ago)

yeah the whole building has been affected by the look of it

Angkor Waht (Neil S), Friday, 23 May 2014 14:52 (twelve years ago)

The fire apparently started in the basement. I went by the scene an hour or so ago and fire could be seen on the top floor, both sides (Sauchiehall St and Renfrew St sides). Given that much of the interior is wooden, it's going to be very serious damage.

Degree show was supposed to be in a couple of weeks as well.

Eyeball Kicks, Friday, 23 May 2014 14:53 (twelve years ago)

The pictures look awful; it's awful to think of it gone.

stet, Friday, 23 May 2014 14:59 (twelve years ago)

Duncan of Jordanstone art college in Dundee is also having a fire, I hear?

baked beings on toast (suzy), Friday, 23 May 2014 15:07 (twelve years ago)

DoJ is fine, just a minor thing.

GSA are going to have a press conference in the next hour or so. Looks very bad :(.
