In March 2012, The Crown Estate, which owns Regent Street and Heddon Street, installed a commemorative brown plaque at 23 Heddon Street in the same place as the "K. West" sign on the cover photo. The unveiling was attended by original band members Mick Woodmansey and Trevor Bolder, and by Gary Kemp.

Apparent Sexual Dimorphism(edit)
I'm reinserting my assertions concerning the evident sexual dimorphism in the species in light of the following:The Chipettes have used suntan lotion in at least one episode of the cartoon series, indicating that their skin is indeed relatively bare (as in humans). When the Chipettes' midriffs are exposed, their navels are quite visible, while those of the boys are not (they are apparently obscured, as in other fur-bearing mammals). The Chipmunks navels are visible, they're just never exposed; except once, during "The Chipmunk Adventure" when they are captured by the tribe of primitives. And finally, the girls have human-like hair on their heads which grows in a variety of colors (brown on Jeanette, auburn on Brittany, and blonde on Eleanor and Charlene), unlike the boys, who have tufts of fur on their heads the exact same color as that which grows on their bodies. It is obvious that the appearance of males and females differs significantly enough in the Chipmunk species to warrant some discussion.

Should we do a separate thread, poll or board?
― Mark G, Tuesday, 10 December 2013 15:47 (twelve years ago)
Remember that scene in "Secret of NIMH" where Mrs. Brisby was captured, put in a cage and her cloak was removed?
Yeah, start a poll, that'd be cool, Mark G.

In reality, the Buddhist Palm fighting style does not leave palm-shaped craters and holes on impact. Instead, the user delivers powerful punches using his palm.

Lyrically, the song features Knowles schooling everyone from their 20s to their 50s. She gets feisty as she reflects on lessons she learned in her own life and affirms that she hasn't certified as a teacher, a preacher or a doctor, but is willing to perform their various duties regardless.

In the original version done with Rotten, the main theme is a power chord riff that goes D, C, D, E♭ (plays with "Belsen was a gas, I heard the other day"). When rerecorded for the Biggs version, that theme is drastically altered to D, C, B♭, C. Thus, the tension of the original version (from the use of E flat in a song based in D) is quite deflated.

The really weird thing is that there is no Danish article. Why would you make an article trying to explain away the racist lyrics of a Danish childrens song which nobody knows about to begin with? Needless to say, the three first verses are extremely embarassing.

The incident is referred to in the book Politics and Popular Culture by John Street, Professor of Politics at the University of East Anglia. He says:
"But to read popular culture as a straight forward text is to take a very narrow view of its meaning, and hence of its political message. As we have noted, the text's meaning will depend on how it is heard and read. Michael Jackson may have intended his 'Earth Song' to be an exercise in compassion; others–like Jarvis Cocker–saw it quite differently. One reason these alternative readings emerge is because of the way the performance of popular culture engages more than a literal text, it employs gestures and symbols, tones of voice, looks and glances, all of which might tell a different story".[36]

When he traveled, he invariably brought with him a dog, a monkey, and a life-sized doll. This doll he referred to as "le Petit Comte" ("the little Count") and told everyone that it was his son; he insisted it be brought to him daily, and—when it was absent—he asked about its health. (Stenbock's family believed an unscrupulous Jesuit had been given large amounts of money by the Count for the "education" of this doll.)

And how suspicious does this sound: He died during a drunken argument with his stepfather, Sir Francis Mowatt, then Permanent Secretary of the Treasury. Stenbock was waving a poker and toppled over and killed himself on the fireplace.[3]

A Conspiracy of Hope was a short tour of six benefit concerts on behalf of Amnesty International that took place in the United States during June 1986.
...
The concert in Denver was the only show that did not sell out, even with most of the top names on the bill. The local promoter blamed the title of the concert for radio stations believing there truly was a conspiracy.

"Freekeh has several nutritional attributes that are comparable to other cereal foods.[7] Some people consider it a superfood.[8] Cancer Research UK say that "the term 'superfood' is really just a marketing tool, with little scientific basis to it".[9] Which explains why the superfood claim here is referenced to Oprah.com, not exactly well known as a source of scientific data."

From (the current version of?) the civet article:
Palm civets often venture into urban and suburban environments, with people often complaining about civet feces or noise from the animals climbing on roofs.[9] Some studies have undertaken to examine and mitigate human-animal conflict in these cases. The Raffles Museum of Biodiversity at the National University of Singapore has adopted the palm civet as its mascot and volunteers call themselves "Toddycats". but this information is not true.

Henny Youngman:
Henny had a grandson of note: Lawrence ["Larry"] Michael Kelly. Kelly spent much of his youth with Henny on the road following the death of Larry's father at an early age. While Kelly tried for many years to follow in his grandfather's footsteps he never managed to attain a following. Kelly struggled with a severe weight problem for his entire life regularly fluctuating between 250 to over 500 pounds. Despite not achieving fame for himself, he was a very astute judge of talent in others, and through his connections in Henny's world, Kelly was able to help promote the early careers of Sam Kinison, Louie Anderson, Roseanne Barr and several other notable personalities.[citation needed] Larry's numerous and ever changing enterprises included the running of one of the first computer bulletin boards in the world ("Modem Over Manhattan", a/k/a "M*O*M"),[citation needed] as well as obtaining Henny's partnership with the nascent [owner-profit shared] "Dial-A-Joke" telephone service.[citation needed] Kelly's last venture was a small banana bread business in Woodstock called "Top Banana". From 1992 until his death, Kelly co-hosted a local public-access television show called The Village Green, with then future Woodstock councilman Gordon Wemp. The cause of Kelly's death remains unknown today.[citation needed]

On Lausanne, in Switzerland:
The city has been traditionally quiet but in the late 1960s and early 1970s there were a series of mainly youth demonstrations confronted by the police. The next vigorous demonstrations took place to protest against the high cinema prices and since then the city returned to its old very sleepy self, until the protest against the G8 meetings in 2003.

Carl Tanlzer, freakshow.
He fell in love with a terminal patient at his hospital then lived with her corpse for 7 years after she died. Tanzler attached the corpse's bones together with wire and coat hangers, and fitted the face with glass eyes. As the skin of the corpse decomposed, Tanzler replaced it with silk cloth soaked in wax and plaster of paris. As the hair fell out of the decomposing scalp, Tanzler fashioned a wig from Hoyos's hair that had been collected by her mother and given to Tanzler not long after her burial in 1931. Tanzler filled the corpse's abdominal and chest cavity with rags to keep the original form, dressed Hoyos's remains in stockings, jewelry, and gloves, and kept the body in his bed.

Also, the necrophilia inspired indie rocksters!
Several bands have released musical interpretations of the Tanzler story, such as And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead's The Secret of Elena's Tomb album, and Sleep Station's Von Cosel album, both released in 2003.

Music videoViolent J, Shaggy 2 Dope, Monoxide Child and Jamie Madrox are stuck in the desert as their Dodge Charger has broken down. They push the car to a service station where a brooding woman observes the visitors. They have a meal in a diner where Violent J annoys the waiter. They go to the auto garage only to realize it is boarded up. They then go to a local trailer park and harass residents. They notice their car being driven towards them and it is driven by the brooding woman who has apparently fixed it. The woman does donuts in the trailer park kicking up dust and they have to get out of the way. They then destroy the trailer park.
