missed the rollins episode but this week's finale was basically exactly what i've been wanting the show to do from day one.

not really a fan of the hidden camera stunts parts (eric andre's style is not really funny when applied to exhausted poor people trying to get home on the subway imo) but this show has made me literally lol (a hearty lol, deep in the belly) more than any other show has in a while. i loved how game vivica a fox was.

Yeah, the man on the street bits are sometimes a little too Improv Everywhere! for my taste. I greatly prefer when he's fucking with people who've voluntarily entered his world.

(I guess I'm generally down when there's even the mildest level of "victim" complicity, because Nathan For You handled its civilian mindfuckery beautifully.)

everything being disconnected from context removes the cruelty in my mind of that stuff so i can forgive "free jerry sandusky" weirdness

I'm not big on any "man on the street" stuff, but I've laughed the loudest so far at his blind man asking "Excuse me, have you seen my dog?" bit.

Season 3 starts November 6! Awesome. I rewatched the first two seasons in one sitting with my sibs last Christmas and laughed harder than I can remember laughing in years. Looking forward to making this a regular, ever-expanding holiday tradition.

yeah, i'm pretty fucking excited by this. the end of season 2 with the kaleidoscopic, everything at once recursion bit was maybe the most subversive thing i've ever seen on television.

For a forthcoming episode this season, André was able to book The Hills star and milquetoast lifestyle personality Lauren Conrad, creating a hazardous mismatch. “Some guests don’t even know my name or the name of the show,” André explains. “They’ve just been in the game for a while and they’re like, ‘Sure, yeah, whatever. When do I show up?’” Conrad was one of those guests. When she arrived for the interview, the un-air-conditioned set was sweltering and hostile, and Conrad “was, like, sweating bullets, on this acid trip,” André says. He proceeded to go nuts on her, drawing a swastika on his forehead, making inappropriate suggestions about her husband, and spewing fake vomit everywhere. What resulted was the show’s first-ever walkout, and the dismay of her entire team. “Her publicist was furious — reamed out my talent booker,” André says.

Because of the incident, André lost every prospective guest affiliated with Conrad’s handlers — except one. “It was like a week later, and Jimmy Kimmel wanted to do the show. I was like, cool. And he’s like, ‘Yeah, let me just cc my publicist,’” he says. “And it’s the same publicity (agency).” Kimmel was a powerful enough client, and chummy enough with André, that his handlers had no choice but to consent. “They were like, ‘What time do you want Mr. Kimmel there tomorrow?’” André recalls through mock-gritted teeth.

it's been up and down this season but the all bird-up episode was spectacular

like this best when it's so chaotic and who-gives-a-fuck that they don't even bother with credits

the new FX show he co-stars in, Man Seeking Woman, is full on terrible

sadly agree; it could be okay if they could commit to the premise and quit milking three gags per episode like making his blind date a FOR REAL troll is actually a clever and original idea that can sustain six minutes of schtick

yeah, like every time they reveal a new premise, it falls flat, and then they just run it into the ground forever

I kinda like man seeking woman tbh, each ep (I've seen three) has at least one very funny sequence, which is more than I can say for the vast majority of new comedies

i was prepared to see him smash shit for 10 minutes like last year's season finale, or 1 idea that would consume the entire episode. the monologue and the argument with hannibal was a little longer than usual, so i think they were fucking with any similar minded viewers to give the impression just for a moment that the monologue would last for 10 minutes. and then bird up happened.

Do you think “homophobic” jokes in the 1980s are different than ones that might be perceived so today? What’s changed?

EA: All motivation is defined by intention. If the intention is to hurt, divide, or belittle, it’s wrong; if it’s an attempt to cope with or make sense of tragedy, it’s something different. If it’s commenting on society’s flaws, versus adding to society’s flaws, I think the audience can tell.

With that said, I do think homophobia in the ’80s was more rampant and socially acceptable, like with Sam Kinison or Andrew Dice Clay. Those guys are fucking bigots. Sam Kinison was a sexist homophobic piece of shit and I’m glad he is dead. I want to jerk off on his tombstone.

None other than EA, waiting on a date (?)... a tall gal sauntered in just after us to approach him on the bench... first date/tinder vibes.

He and I made eye contact and I gave him a knowing nod. He seemed almost shy/vulnerable in person, he was dressed well. We both were tbh.
