You devil. That's a very misleading angle, but I got it.

fields of salmon, Tuesday, 3 December 2013 18:47 (twelve years ago)

xpost- you got it, clouds, well done. Cartagena de Indias, Colombia.

ha salmon — most shots make it too easy ;)

clouds, Wednesday, 4 December 2013 06:00 (twelve years ago)

wtf i am still astounded by how you ppl can do this

KMFAO (Stevie D(eux)), Thursday, 5 December 2013 13:43 (twelve years ago)

This is the most astoundingly fun game I can think of. I can spend hours coming through skyline photos looking for similarities and differences and stuff like mountains in the background. BTW nobody has posted a guess/solution for clouds' last one? Should I give it away?

fields of salmon, Thursday, 5 December 2013 15:42 (twelve years ago)

North America I'm guessing. Houston, somewhere like that?

I wish to incorporate disco into my small business (chap), Thursday, 5 December 2013 15:52 (twelve years ago)

not in north america

clouds, Thursday, 5 December 2013 16:16 (twelve years ago)

blaaaaargh I got it but it took me forever

fear of zing failure (flamboyant goon tie included), Thursday, 5 December 2013 16:41 (twelve years ago)

1. Spotted the language in the picture
2. Tried to read the english script, googled "yamashiwa"?
3. Tried to place the blue logo, lotta googling
4. Sorted through endless skyline photos and actually ruled out the correct city once before coming back around to it by accident
5. Speculated that this photo was perversely taken from a famous landmark but I can't tell

fear of zing failure (flamboyant goon tie included), Thursday, 5 December 2013 16:43 (twelve years ago)

there is one famous landmark in this city that would certainly give it away

I like to think I have learnt a thing or two about music (Neil S), Thursday, 5 December 2013 16:51 (twelve years ago)

I was in the wrong country, but the right general... part of this continent. Went through at least a dozen cities in that country before deciding to look through cities that would have similar rooftops. Then I got sidetracked because this city, if you look at it from any other angle, has a bunch of buildings that don't appear in this photo.

fields of salmon, Thursday, 5 December 2013 19:00 (twelve years ago)

yeah this isn't the view across the city centre as such

That's Brno cathedral.

Yep.

Ramnaresh Samhain (ShariVari), Friday, 6 December 2013 10:01 (twelve years ago)

Something about Port of Spain reminded me of bricks

ogmor, Wednesday, 11 December 2013 07:21 (twelve years ago)

Seville.

Doctor Casino, Wednesday, 11 December 2013 11:11 (twelve years ago)

i've never been, but i bet it'd be good for some flanerie, even better a few hundred years ago

ogmor, Wednesday, 11 December 2013 12:38 (twelve years ago)

First time I've checked ILX today, and it's finally somewhere I've been! (assuming it actually is Seville, which it looks incredibly like)

ailsa, Wednesday, 11 December 2013 16:19 (twelve years ago)

should I go or should I just keep watching flamenco videos on youtube?

ogmor, Wednesday, 11 December 2013 19:25 (twelve years ago)

Andalusian food is amazing, go now

fear of zing failure (flamboyant goon tie included), Wednesday, 11 December 2013 19:34 (twelve years ago)

THAT, is St. John's, Nfld.

fear of zing failure (flamboyant goon tie included), Thursday, 12 December 2013 07:42 (twelve years ago)

(Although my first guess was Thunder Bay. "Canada" logo on the red building gave the game away)

This is an easy one I think.

goon tie: correct!

clouds, Thursday, 12 December 2013 14:09 (twelve years ago)

I'm kind of curious what the other guesses would have been for St Johns. Anybody care to post what they thought it might be, even knowing the answer?

fields of salmon, Thursday, 12 December 2013 15:01 (twelve years ago)

Ramnaresh Samhain (ShariVari), Saturday, 21 December 2013 15:18 (twelve years ago)

We've had that one before, I think (recognise the bridge, can't remember where it is and am not loading all messages to find out!), but iirc it's in China/Japan/Korea somewhere.

ailsa, Saturday, 21 December 2013 15:21 (twelve years ago)

did a search for it, couldn't find. you are right to think it's in east asia, though.

clouds, Saturday, 21 December 2013 15:34 (twelve years ago)
