Bennett kind of Chris Parnell-ish there, no?

Geoffrey Schweppes (jaymc), Sunday, 24 November 2013 05:09 (twelve years ago)

I don't know how or why this Outfield sketch is working, but it is.

Montgomery Burns' Jazz (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Sunday, 24 November 2013 05:25 (twelve years ago)

yes so funny

Mordy , Sunday, 24 November 2013 05:25 (twelve years ago)

ep has given me many lolz

Mordy , Sunday, 24 November 2013 05:25 (twelve years ago)

Baby-body man sketch was so great.

Este Haim's bassface is worse than I thought. I haven't watched much live video of them, and I've seen people mention it, but wow. I still love them, though.

Johnny Fever, Sunday, 24 November 2013 05:45 (twelve years ago)

best wig on cicely strong

goole, Sunday, 24 November 2013 05:47 (twelve years ago)

baby body was great. definitely feels like half tonight's show was just The Five New White Guys dumping their youtube/improve troupe repertoire on the table, though.

some dude, Sunday, 24 November 2013 05:51 (twelve years ago)

Good stuff. I love the good neighbors videos I think.

dan selzer, Sunday, 24 November 2013 05:52 (twelve years ago)

haha this is fucked up

goole, Sunday, 24 November 2013 05:57 (twelve years ago)

Turkey sketch was amazing.

Johnny Fever, Sunday, 24 November 2013 05:59 (twelve years ago)

This was the best episode of the season front to back, quality-wise. Even Girlfriends Talk Show was funny, which is rarely the case for that sketch.

Johnny Fever, Sunday, 24 November 2013 07:36 (twelve years ago)

Singer for Haim sounds like she has a tiny Michael McDonald lodged in her throat.

SWM seeks intrinsically and gravely disordered action (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Sunday, 24 November 2013 08:41 (twelve years ago)

'jesses girl' sketch was godawful sub-yt trash. this kid hosting was fine idk who he is tho like johnny manziels kid brother or

johnny crunch, Sunday, 24 November 2013 17:41 (twelve years ago)

the turkey and baby sketches -- only two memorable ones of the night -- were both essentially KITH castoffs.

Outside of that there was nothing especially striking.

lollercoaster of rove (s.clover), Sunday, 24 November 2013 18:03 (twelve years ago)

haim were great fun tho, including the faces. but they also overenunciated so much, which was weird, like they were covering their own songs.

lollercoaster of rove (s.clover), Sunday, 24 November 2013 18:04 (twelve years ago)

like they were covering their own songs

Yes! I found this really weird but I didn't hate it.

polyphonic, Sunday, 24 November 2013 19:06 (twelve years ago)

'jesses girl' sketch was godawful sub-yt trash.

^^^ absolutely. Reminded me of those answer records that died out in the 70s, where a guy would ask questions and snippets of songs would play. And I don't think anyone's missed them.

Winston Sam Bass was good. "IM GOING TO THE SUPERMARKET!!!!!!"

Nerd Trombones (thebingo), Tuesday, 26 November 2013 15:12 (twelve years ago)

ok a) it was more like the "Your Love" skit than anything else and b) wtf, it was hilarious

JACK SQUAT about these Charlie Nobodies (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Tuesday, 26 November 2013 15:33 (twelve years ago)

Jesus, this Rudd/One Direction episode was DEADLY. Rudd remains likable, etc. but he had nothin' to work with.

Walter Galt, Sunday, 8 December 2013 21:27 (twelve years ago)

The divorce sketch was really stupid but I couldn't stop cracking up during it

SHAUN (DJP), Sunday, 8 December 2013 21:28 (twelve years ago)

Beyer's movements sold the shit outta that one. Also, Kate McKinnon's "sexy chicken" on the otherwise predictable Santa sketch was probably the show's highlight.

Montgomery Burns' Jazz (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Sunday, 8 December 2013 21:51 (twelve years ago)

Don't know if SNL finally broke me and now it's Stockholm syndrome here on out, but I've been laughing more this season than I have the past few. Maybe it's Kyle Mooney, but it's probably not just him.

Murgatroid, Sunday, 8 December 2013 21:57 (twelve years ago)

agree that the dancing sold the terrible writing in the divorce sketch. everything else was forgettable except for the return of bill brasky.

lollercoaster of rove (s.clover), Sunday, 8 December 2013 22:04 (twelve years ago)

yeah i hate to be the guy who's all THIS IS BAD EPISODE AV CLUB D+ but

tuostprophets (Whiney G. Weingarten), Sunday, 8 December 2013 22:07 (twelve years ago)

They brought back Jebediah Atkinson pretty quickly, but I'm glad they did. "Time is not linear for me!"

Montgomery Burns' Jazz (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Sunday, 8 December 2013 22:42 (twelve years ago)

I had plenty of LOLs. The awesome staredown between Rudd and the little One Direction fan, Jebediah, Sharpton, the riffy last sketch, even healthy Santa Claus. Yeah, Michelangelo and the White Christmas Movie ones were dumb, but still...

schwantz, Monday, 9 December 2013 04:56 (twelve years ago)

sooooooooo many white ppl

mitch hedberg and kevin hart (sleepingbag), Monday, 9 December 2013 05:03 (twelve years ago)

Sharpton skit was terrible.

Jebediah was fantastic.

Sounded like 1D were going for their Mumford album.

an enormous bolus of flatulence (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Monday, 9 December 2013 05:06 (twelve years ago)

Jebediah was good and appreciated the meta moment referring to his only been on 3 weeks ago, but it seemed like a page out of that Kristen Wiig character, Aunt Linda, who did movie reviews. Wonder if it was written by the same person.

I felt like it was the Cecily episode. She was everywhere. The script with her past lovers was my favorite of the evening. But I don't know about Weekend Update, I'm usually a sucker for it and have mostly found the past few years w/ Seth to be pretty dependable. I noticed this week and last I think were the first with a different writer, with no material from Seth? I felt like these two weeks were particularly bad. I'm not complaining about Cecily's delivery, but the writing seems to have dropped off. I see the guy who wrote it these last two weeks has been on for years, but maybe Seth used to also contribute and has stopped in advance of his leaving?

dan selzer, Monday, 9 December 2013 05:42 (twelve years ago)

script = skit

dan selzer, Monday, 9 December 2013 05:44 (twelve years ago)

Jebediah should stick to historical material. gimmick works way better when there's a writers geeking out quality to it.

lollercoaster of rove (s.clover), Monday, 9 December 2013 05:45 (twelve years ago)

Yeah, the Update jokes were really flimsy. I like Vanessa's little Jacob character (sometimes her accent slips into fake-British) and Jebediah was fun. Is Seth back for any episodes in the new year, or is he spending January getting ready for his show?

Johnny Fever, Monday, 9 December 2013 05:47 (twelve years ago)

Jesus Christ, that Michaelangelo sketch. Only real punchline in it (besides Jay Pharaoh mugging down the camera lens saying "Kill yourself!") was a less funny version of a famous Simpsons joke ("And, uh, incidentally, thanks for not making fun of my genitalia." ― Montgomery Burns / "I thought I did." ― Marge Simpson)

The Rudd-as-a-1D-fanatic thing was such a wasted opportunity I thought.

Walter Galt, Monday, 9 December 2013 07:57 (twelve years ago)

Jebediah turned out way better than I would have expected for an snl character based on Dr Morbius

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 12 December 2013 22:15 (twelve years ago)

They just wanted to make sure they all actually do suck.

I'd love to see them get someone like Danitra Vance. They need to go back to having more people with non-improv stage backgrounds.

Ludicrous Positions IV: Tender Arenas (Old Lunch), Thursday, 12 December 2013 22:19 (twelve years ago)

Bresha Webb is fantastic.

she was great at UCB - psyched

This was published before her selection

Felix Sanchez, chairman of the National Hispanic Foundation for the Arts
who called out the Kennedy Center for not having Latin nominees for the Kennedy Center Honors (which they responded to this year with 2 selectees) is not happy with Saturday Night Live.

Hank Stuever’s Dec. 19 Style review of NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” [“It’s still a good try!”] limited the context to a racial perspective. This season, controversy swirled around the show’s lack of female African American cast members, but journalists failed to note that the “SNL” cast also had no Latinos and no Asians.

In fact, in the show’s 39 seasons, it has never had a Latina cast member. Only two Latinos have ever been hired as cast members: Chilean American Horatio Sanz, who left the show in 2006, and Fred Armisen, whose mother is Venezuelan and who left the cast last season .

drake was solid imo

balls, Sunday, 19 January 2014 06:14 (twelve years ago)

Yeah, dude was funny.

Johnny Fever, Sunday, 19 January 2014 07:41 (twelve years ago)

I missed the first 15 mins, but I'll catch it on hulu tomorrow.

Johnny Fever, Sunday, 19 January 2014 07:41 (twelve years ago)

i just posted this on twitter; then again i've been drinking:

Drake is really funny! SNL should hire him and curtail his rap career -- like Will Smith without the crap Oscarbait post-apocalypse sci-fi.

I mean, The Fresh Prince was funny before he went mersh/scieno; maybe Drake's latent Bar Mitzvah Boy has better things in store.

Esa-Pekka Merkerson (get bent), Sunday, 19 January 2014 09:14 (twelve years ago)

also from twitter:

Sasheer Zamata is a star; she barely did anything and she's already Kate McKinnon levels of burning up the TV screen.

Esa-Pekka Merkerson (get bent), Sunday, 19 January 2014 09:24 (twelve years ago)

he was pretty incredible i thought

his katt williams was absurdly good

le goon (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 19 January 2014 14:56 (twelve years ago)

people say this about timberlake but i think drake could actually be on the cast... he's got a lot more charisma than any of the white dudes they added as featured players this season
