South Park: Classic or Dud?

Is it better than the Little League ep because that one makes me hurt with laughter. But yeah, everybody OTM, fuck their fucking politics and fuck off "satire".

Jesus Christ, you have Cylons fighting Santa Claus, and they just need rip on Al Gore some more. What the fuck is up with these guys?

This last three-parter was one of the worst series of episodes I've seen. Ok, attacking our imagination is amusing for one episode, but three? I feel like they are fumbling this season. The Bono one was amusing for a one-liner gag, but beyond that was also pretty weak. It's disappointing to me because last season was one of the best they've ever done.

"family guy isn't funny, it's all random shit and pop culture references. here, watch our three-part episode about imagination land, it's loaded with references to old commercials, 80s toys and cartoons. and al gore's a superhero. take that, family guy!"

Ah, I liked the imaginationland saga. just seeing all those characters and having the whole suck my balls subplot. The superman dude was funny and the Christmas critters returned. The first episode, the terrorists came in and everything felt like bullet-time the way they animated it and had the sound all quiet with a heartbeat. In general the plot was very original and I'm sure there was a metaphor somewhere about Americans' imaginations running wild. I'm sure if we broke this down, we could find the metaphor and I don't think they were just ripping Al Gore. Sarah Silverman did that on the next episode. I felt bad for god, what did he do so wrong to Sarah Silverman anyways (besides the bugles and flowers being creepy)?

Yeah, the whole trilogy was worth it for the Saving Private Ryan sequence.

butters getting screwed over and everything... I see similarities between him and me. He is a very imaginative boy, but society and family ruin his life when he probably has extraordinary talent. All that talent is wasted since the rest of the world is fucked up.

and the whole sending of a nuke to end the problems that arose out of nothing... there has got to be some metaphor to the Iraq war and the WTC. I don't know what.

these episodes just made me really irritated that I could recognize but not properly identify a minor 80s cartoon character (the little floating wizard guy in a red hat and cloak and a scarf obscuring his otherwise black face - goddammit what the hell was that thing from)

I like the trilogy! I thought it was better than the movie for a movie-length type thing (well, almost). Poor Butters, conjuring up all the mangled recesses of his poor hurt self instead of Santa.

i would say i liked the trilogy, but better than the movie? too much padding, not enough actual plot... doesn't compare.

I saw the movie like four years ago before I'd ever watched South Park and I didn't really like it.

You know, I think I hate this show. The fact that the WoW episode won an emmy blows my mind.

I laughed at last night's ep, "Heroin Hero" & all.

i liked the Randy's I'm so startled, did you see how startled i was? cloverfield pisstake thing in those episodes.

I won't spoil the election episode for anyone who hasn't seen it, but the complete misdirection was a smart move and the only way such a thing would've even been half funny.

I was a bit scared to watch it as well, but it turns out that it's quite kind to Obama, if anything (though not so much his more vociferous supporters).

I have now been compared to Randy Marsh on election night, but I swear I was not that bad (or that drunk).

It was pretty much completely lacking in the funny, though. But their election episodes usually are.

I liked all the Oceans 1x stuff.

I liked it. I liked that it seemed how they wanted to do a relatively straight bank heist story, intercut it with drunken idiocy to keep the lolz rolling, then tie both plotlines in together.

I've never really been sure what a libertarian is. I'm not that bothered to find out.

My favourite South Park episode is the Lord of the Rings one, where they are returning the porno.

The Guineasaurus Rex was kind of a punchline.

Does anyone else find this show kind of soulless and cruel? Maybe it was just the episode I watched, but there was like a 10-minute sequence where kenny threw a ninja star into a kid's eye and then to avoid getting caught they decide to disguise him as a dog to take him to the veteranarian, then they wind up stuffing him in an oven, etc. I mean I know it's all exaggerated and absurd, but I found something sadistic in the way the show just lingered on all of this so much, not to mention that it just wasn't funny. Maybe it's just that getting older thing.
