i just saw my cheese crackers evoked -- they're the parmesan cream crackers here (http://www.nytimes.com/2009/02/04/dining/04mini-web.html?_r=0) and they are so easy and SO DELICIOUS
roll them out and bake on parchment
also you're going to want to double the recipe, trust me

sweat pea (La Lechera), Monday, 11 November 2013 20:03 (twelve years ago)

also lol @ io's oops post :)

sweat pea (La Lechera), Monday, 11 November 2013 20:04 (twelve years ago)

Homo schaduwkabinet (Stevie D(eux)), Monday, 11 November 2013 20:55 (twelve years ago)

i just bought a ton of cheddar that I know not what to do with so uh yeah I am going to do this

ParmesanCheddar Cream Crackers

Published: February 2, 2009
Time: About 20 minutes

1 cup all-purpose flour, more as needed
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup finely grated fresh Parmesan cheddar cheese
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/4 cup cream or half-and-half, more as needed
Coarse salt, pepper, sesame or poppy seeds, minced garlic or whatever you like for sprinkling (optional).
1. Heat oven to 400 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly dust with flour. Put flour, salt, cheese and butter in bowl of a food processor. Pulse until flour and butter are combined. Add about 1/4 cup cream or half-and-half and let machine run for a bit; continue to add liquid a teaspoon at a time, until mixture holds together but is not sticky.

2. Roll out dough on a lightly floured surface until 1/2-inch thick or even thinner, adding flour as needed. Transfer sheet of dough to prepared baking sheet (drape it over rolling pin to make it easier). Score lightly with a sharp knife, pizza cutter or a pastry wheel if you want to break crackers into squares or rectangles later on. Sprinkle with salt or other topping if you like.

3. Bake until lightly browned, about 10 minutes. Cool on a rack; serve warm or at room temperature or store in a tin for a few days.

Homo schaduwkabinet (Stevie D(eux)), Monday, 11 November 2013 20:58 (twelve years ago)

yeah they're gonna be gooood
i recommend cayenne or spicy paprika if you want red hot cheese crackers!
or a shake shake of hot sauce so only some of them are hot

sweat pea (La Lechera), Monday, 11 November 2013 21:12 (twelve years ago)

I can verify that those crackers are AMAZING.

Immediate Follower (NA), Monday, 11 November 2013 21:19 (twelve years ago)

So amazing.

carl agatha, Monday, 11 November 2013 21:54 (twelve years ago)

I am skeptical that they will be as good if anybody else but LL makes them, but I'm just being unreasonably partisan.

carl agatha, Monday, 11 November 2013 21:55 (twelve years ago)

More like unreasonably parmesan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Immediate Follower (NA), Monday, 11 November 2013 21:56 (twelve years ago)

Mango Passion Granola = oh gurl nooooooo

Homo schaduwkabinet (Stevie D(eux)), Wednesday, 13 November 2013 12:14 (twelve years ago)

It is p much cheap tween-targeted bath/beauty product granola

Homo schaduwkabinet (Stevie D(eux)), Wednesday, 13 November 2013 12:16 (twelve years ago)

lololol

gross

i have been making granola from stuff i bought at tjs. but their granola tastes like "scented hand cream" - you're right

sweat pea (La Lechera), Wednesday, 13 November 2013 14:57 (twelve years ago)

ugh gross just thinking about that gives me a stomach ache

maybe it's a facial scrub that they mispackaged as granola by mistake?

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 13 November 2013 17:17 (twelve years ago)

All their cereals are really sweet.

Immediate Follower (NA), Wednesday, 13 November 2013 17:18 (twelve years ago)

ya this is SO sweet and SO fruity but in the worst way, like in a way granola ought not be. Berry granola is fine and vanilla almond granola is fine but mango passion granola, this granola is NOT FINE

Homo schaduwkabinet (Stevie D(eux)), Wednesday, 13 November 2013 19:49 (twelve years ago)

i fux with the multigrain o's.

I like the mango passion granola, but in a guilty pleasure kind of way.

nickn, Wednesday, 13 November 2013 20:10 (twelve years ago)

tj plain old shredded wheat is...not the best. those shits are chewy as hell

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Wednesday, 13 November 2013 23:00 (twelve years ago)

I've not chewed shit. So I can't compare shredded wheats on that criteria

s: chocolate hazelnut cookies

brimstead, Sunday, 17 November 2013 04:03 (twelve years ago)

I love the chocolate hazelnut cookies. They remind me of *something* I used to eat growing up in Minnesota in the early 1980s but I can't for the life of me figure out what.

I bought some of the vanilla/cinnamon/lemur black tea - I really enjoy it, plus it is fun to tell my daughter that lemurs are, of course, the most festive mammal of all.

In case you want a turkey tomorrow and are unbelievably behind...I sampled their fully cooked roasted turkey and it was amazing, I didn't know it was possible for turkey to get that tender. It's not cheap though (almost $4/lb).

All of their tortillas fall apart when I try to use them for tacos, and the flour tortillas have an odd naan-like taste.

Immediate Follower (NA), Sunday, 15 December 2013 01:21 (twelve years ago)

I like their handmade tortillas, but they can be ridiculously thick around the edges and have that naan taste, too.

one month passes...

the chile-onion flour tortillas are pretty good!

also digging:

-dried green beans (they have these stocked next to the potato chips, popcorn, etc.)
-no-sugar-added dark chocolate with almonds
-the greens+ energy bars
-the prepared boneless/skiness roasted chicken strips, because shut up, that's why

two months pass...

i'm still mourning the loss of my beloved green curry tuna, but tj's sai tung green curry & red gaba rice is pretty good, at least as good as what you'd get at the vegan thai joints around here.

the pursuit of ha'pennies (get bent), Monday, 7 April 2014 04:34 (twelve years ago)

I could murder a box of green curry tuna but before they dropped it I was starting to notice the sweetness and not as much...something. Dunno. So hungry right now.
