tight black leggings and big foofy boots

I'm just cranky because none of them would fit me anyway.

It's funny, the eternal "New York" boot is still the black pointy-toed stiletto but riding boots are giving them a run for their money finally.

In high school, I used to wear black vintage '60s ski pants with lace-up black boots, huge sweaters and cardigans, but since the ski pants were thick enough to obscure VPL the sweaters did not necessarily need to cover the arse. The ski pants were ludicrously inexpensive ($10 at vintage warehouse) and made out of the same fabric as old-school jodhpurs.

Have actually been wearing a pair of Etienne Aigner riding boots for like the past five years (never with leggings, always with jeans or cabley tights/short dress), and now a small rubbed hole has appeared on the side of the toe, almost as if the fashion gods were telling me it's time to stop, lest I overlap with these boring rich people who have Anthropologie store cards.

One tiny girl was super cute but her boots were hilariously high, like they came quite a ways up over the knee like veering up to fishing waders height, or julia roberts pretty woman cfm boots. not quite mid thigh but nearing there

they were a cool style leather and v chill it's just that the length looked funny on her. maybe because her legs were shorter or something, idk.

omg so envious. I remember after I first came to Canada I ended up nearly bawling in a shopping mall because I couldn't find a single pair of high snow boots that came close to getting over my calves. I had to get snowjoggers because they're short, and even then I have to wear the velcro fastenings really loosely.

my first christmas here mr veg bought me a pair of beautiful birkenstock riding boots...that I had to return bcz i couldnt zip them over my giant non german non svelte hiker calves waaaaah they were so beautiful

I would not be the least bit surprised were that pic taken at tailgating where I went to college (eastern PA). Fortunately I attended in the grunge era when baggy jeans and flannels were the thing. Also I did not tailgate why because that would mean getting up stupid early on a Saturday. The duck boots on the dude are a northeastern giveaway ime.

That photo also confirms that I need to get at least six inches cut off my hair because c'mon I ain't no coed, c'mon. I'm forty fucking years old.

I have basically decided that leggings and longer shirts is my primary outfit configuration from here until eternity. I have some of those fleecy leggings, too, and they are fantastic. I do not have foofy boots, but I have what I guess you might call "chunky" boots and I will wear them and everyone can enjoy a fat, old lady in leggings and chunky boots and talk about it on the internet.

The inspiration for my look is every humanoid settlement from Star Trek:TNG that wears leggings and tunics and boots, which is like 85% of them.

seriously these walgreens fleece-lined (sweatpant) leggings might be the most comfortable things i have ever put on my body

maybe I need to check my foof privilege because I pretty much wear comfy jeans/pants to work and have a shirt with rolled-up sleeves right now

i tried wearing a button down shirt a few weeks ago and spent like 40 minutes trying to roll up the sleeves properly.

i'd still wear it again though given the proper occasion

there's no wrong way, especially if it has the little loop that you button to hold yr sleeves up

i just don't have much experience with it! i had to do some experimenting to figure out how to get the sleeve length + fold looking ok and also avoid cutting off circulation to my forearms

takes good sizing imo, this is mah 'look' (hi matt p) and i always used to have more trouble getting the sleeves right when my shirts were too baggy.

but any belief that this is like the porky pig style that is leggings-only is i am sorry to say based on a misunderstanding
