atheism tends to come with other beliefs and attitudes most of the time, and one of these is commonly the idea that humans are amazing!!

One of the big ideas behind Fundamentalist Christianity seems to be that humans are the best. So atheists and theists can enjoy their human-centric worldviews together.

my opinion everyone believes in god in their own way

otm. Even atheists. They might not believe god exists but they certainly tend to have very well-defined ideas of what a non-existent god is like.

Mordy otm.

Emperor Cos Dashit (Adam Bruneau), Monday, 4 November 2013 15:53 (twelve years ago)

I believe everything since i last posted to have been casually insulting lazy shit-talk the likes of which no poster present would tolerate for a second if directed towards a group better-defined than 'atheists', tbh.

But some of it was a little funny.

midwife christless (darraghmac), Monday, 4 November 2013 16:11 (twelve years ago)

Eh that post ought to be read with the clear understanding that i am 100% in favour of casually insulting lazy shit-talk, like, but let's acknowledge it

midwife christless (darraghmac), Monday, 4 November 2013 16:16 (twelve years ago)

only through casually insulting lazy shit-talk can one perceive the face of god

lag∞n, Monday, 4 November 2013 16:17 (twelve years ago)

ilxare est orare

snoop dogey doge (seandalai), Monday, 4 November 2013 16:24 (twelve years ago)

Yeah but darrgah we all know atheists are only defined by a belief they lack and so the total group of 'atheists' is going to be so huge no-one could possibly say anything about it beyond 'atheists are atheists'

None the less, you get certain constellations

cardamon, Monday, 4 November 2013 16:28 (twelve years ago)

Not every atheist owns a fedora, but the ones who do sure have mastered the art of applying stroke outlines to Impact font and steadily refusing to shave their necks.

pplains, Monday, 4 November 2013 16:30 (twelve years ago)

I struck the board, and cried, "No more;
I will abroad!
What? shall I ever sigh and pine?
My lines and life are free, free as the road,
Loose as the wind, as large as store.
Shall I be still in suit?
Have I no harvest but a thorn
To let me blood, and not restore
What I have lost with cordial fruit?
Sure there was wine
Before my sighs did dry it; there was corn
Before my tears did drown it.
Is the year only lost to me?
Have I no bays to crown it,
No flowers, no garlands gay? All blasted?
All wasted?
Not so, my heart; but there is fruit,
And thou hast hands.
Recover all thy sigh-blown age
On double pleasures: leave thy cold dispute
Of what is fit and not. Forsake thy cage,
Thy rope of sands,
Which petty thoughts have made, and made to thee
Good cable, to enforce and draw,
And be thy law,
While thou didst wink and wouldst not see.
Away! take heed;
I will abroad.
Call in thy death's-head there; tie up thy fears;
He that forbears
To suit and serve his need
Deserves his load."
But as I raved and grew more fierce and wild
At every word,
Methought I heard one calling, Child!
And I replied My Lord.

itt theists tell atheists how to feel about attacks on atheism

midwife christless (darraghmac), Monday, 4 November 2013 16:44 (twelve years ago)

So you're down w the privately practiced ideal atheism but not the more clownish and prejudiced version as seen in a more social representation? Probably plenty of religious people that feel the same way about religion.

cardamon, Monday, 4 November 2013 16:46 (twelve years ago)

Dunno if atheists are being told what to feel anywhere in this thread, but if I've done it show me where and I will rectify, am not in the business of telling people how to feel

cardamon, Monday, 4 November 2013 16:48 (twelve years ago)

darragh, the more you claim that ppl are being anti-atheist the more the term loses meaning. it's like you're just using it to deflect the very real criticisms of your fascist intellectual movement.

I don't know if I'm imagining this, but if there are any atheists here getting offended, please be assured I'm only making fun of the ones who cry when they laugh and laugh when they cry.

These kind of folk deserve to be in here as well.

i'm trying to dance on the head of the pin here btwn enjoying the quality content itt and actually trying to find out what those of you i suspect to be serious in their quest to have atheism defined as a belief, practice or some absence-of-god in sad deniers-of-god's lives, so allow me just once more between lols:

you're down w the privately practiced ideal atheism

mayne, last time, one doesn't practice atheism. pls. i don't think your god exists and i dont miss him and im not looking for him behind the corners of what i do think exist, and i'm cool with that and i'm cool with you believing in him cos of whyever you do. but pls.

best board ever (™)

Mordy , Monday, 4 November 2013 17:20 (twelve years ago)

Ok, no practicing in atheism. So atheism seems to only exist for social or political reasons. At home, an atheist doesn't think about how god doesn't exist, etc., but if he is filling out a survey or asked a question or confronted in public, his atheism is asserted. Could you say this is the practice of atheism? To assert yourself publicly?

Emperor Cos Dashit (Adam Bruneau), Monday, 4 November 2013 17:20 (twelve years ago)

dunno what planet they send you to but i bet it's not even properly round, enjoy that resulting weather system man

midwife christless (darraghmac), Monday, 4 November 2013 17:21 (twelve years ago)

you are still not getting it imo

nope

midwife christless (darraghmac), Monday, 4 November 2013 17:21 (twelve years ago)

Obeying the law isn't really practicing the law.
