what you're buying w/ ipad isn't just apple tax, it's also build quality and knowing you're going to get OS updates for years to come, android stuff is flashy and whizzbangy but often cheap and subject to premature obsolescence imo

siracusa reports more like a 25% boost in battery life with mavericks, so it's probably worth it for an extra 45 mins or so on an old machine
