I'm going to be in the area from late on the 18th through the morning of the 25th. Anyone want to grab a beer? Any places I just can't kiss?

EZ Snappin, Friday, 11 October 2013 19:09 (twelve years ago)

well Alcatraz may still be closed, if you were planning to do a Blarney Stone.

eclectic husbandry (Dr Morbius), Friday, 11 October 2013 19:11 (twelve years ago)

can't make the 16th thing but am up for something when EZ's here - where are you staying etc

Hip Hop Hamlet (Shakey Mo Collier), Friday, 11 October 2013 19:20 (twelve years ago)

I'm staying in Alameda but will be wandering through both sides of the bay. Happy to meet wherever.

I apologize for any fat finger typing errors like the kiss/miss one above. Shouldn't even try on my phone but such is life.

EZ Snappin, Friday, 11 October 2013 19:36 (twelve years ago)

Pot Sticker was good last time I went.

EZ, I'll be on the East Coast that weekend.

The normative power of the factual (Michael White), Friday, 11 October 2013 19:59 (twelve years ago)

Bummer!

It's my first trip to the area so any advice you'd give a total noob is appreciated.

EZ Snappin, Friday, 11 October 2013 20:03 (twelve years ago)

what do you want to do? see shows? shop? see nature? people watch? eat?

clueless mom complaining about miley Cyrus (sarahell), Friday, 11 October 2013 20:04 (twelve years ago)

Pacific Pinball Museum is in Alameda if yr into that sort of thing

Hip Hop Hamlet (Shakey Mo Collier), Friday, 11 October 2013 20:04 (twelve years ago)

Actually, I'm back on the 23rd... If you're in Alameda and you like pinball, go to

Damn you, Shakey...

The normative power of the factual (Michael White), Friday, 11 October 2013 20:05 (twelve years ago)

It's a mix between a vacation and a scouting trip. Not saying we plan on moving ASAP but there are some opportunities there so we thought it worth checking out.

Probably won't hit up any shows, though Goblin is tempting on the 20th. I think it's more food, people watching, neighborhood wandering, and at least one day trip out to see the redwoods.

EZ Snappin, Friday, 11 October 2013 20:07 (twelve years ago)

I think that Goblin show is sold out?

clueless mom complaining about miley Cyrus (sarahell), Friday, 11 October 2013 20:09 (twelve years ago)

Well, that makes it easy!

EZ Snappin, Friday, 11 October 2013 20:09 (twelve years ago)

and Hawkwind just cancelled/postponed :(

Hip Hop Hamlet (Shakey Mo Collier), Friday, 11 October 2013 20:12 (twelve years ago)

Saw that, too. Anyways, my ears need a week off.

EZ Snappin, Friday, 11 October 2013 20:13 (twelve years ago)

I'm planning on being in Yosemite that weekend but I could probably meet up somewhere in SF the night of the 22nd or 23rd

Hip Hop Hamlet (Shakey Mo Collier), Friday, 11 October 2013 20:20 (twelve years ago)

Michael, you said you'd be back on the 23rd. Would that be back and coherent enough to say hello?

EZ Snappin, Friday, 11 October 2013 20:22 (twelve years ago)

Coherent, I cannot guarantee, but I'll be back at work.

The normative power of the factual (Michael White), Friday, 11 October 2013 20:32 (twelve years ago)

I'm planning on being in Yosemite that weekend

so

eris bueller (lukas), Friday, 11 October 2013 21:46 (twelve years ago)

we're planning a meetup (do people still say "FAP"?) at 15 romolo on oct. 16 around 9pm. if it's too crowded, we can figure out something else, but it should be doable on a wednesday night. my stipulation was "good cocktail menu and cheap/interesting/veg-accommodating bar snacks."

hope to see you tonight!

re: Yosemite

my company has an annual retreat in Wawona, which is private land but within the park boundaries (I've been assured we should be able to get past the ranger gate)

Ayn Rand Akbar (Shakey Mo Collier), Wednesday, 16 October 2013 16:50 (twelve years ago)

Where, Shakey? I lived in Wawona for seven years.

The normative power of the factual (Michael White), Wednesday, 16 October 2013 16:58 (twelve years ago)

here. One of the company principals owns a cabin.

Ayn Rand Akbar (Shakey Mo Collier), Wednesday, 16 October 2013 17:06 (twelve years ago)

Sweet!

The normative power of the factual (Michael White), Wednesday, 16 October 2013 17:30 (twelve years ago)

yeah it's pretty cool. I can't really imagine what living there would be like tbh - beautiful, but pretty isolated I would think...?

Ayn Rand Akbar (Shakey Mo Collier), Wednesday, 16 October 2013 19:11 (twelve years ago)

Moved in '80; evangelicals and hippies, hour-long commute to school for four of those years, population varied from several hundred in the summer to maybe a hundred in the winter. My back yard was as awesome as anyone's, though. We lived in the penultimate house on a north/south street (Spelt Road) about a half mile from the Redwoods' business office. More bear interaction than most people that didn't grow up going to the Eagle.

The normative power of the factual (Michael White), Wednesday, 16 October 2013 19:21 (twelve years ago)

Wawona, more than anything, made me love big cities. First time I could I went to London.

The normative power of the factual (Michael White), Wednesday, 16 October 2013 19:22 (twelve years ago)

Run for your lives everybody!

Ayn Rand Akbar (Shakey Mo Collier), Thursday, 17 October 2013 20:23 (twelve years ago)

anyone else up for FAP next Wednesday...?

Ayn Rand Akbar (Shakey Mo Collier), Thursday, 17 October 2013 22:51 (twelve years ago)

Yes - depending on time + place

clueless mom complaining about miley Cyrus (sarahell), Friday, 18 October 2013 00:13 (twelve years ago)

EZ Snappin, Friday, 18 October 2013 01:27 (twelve years ago)

resulting post (rogermexico.), Friday, 18 October 2013 02:46 (twelve years ago)

can't do next Wednesday but would love to crash the party

eris bueller (lukas), Friday, 18 October 2013 05:43 (twelve years ago)

ILX's own Dominique Leone is playing at the Knockout on the 23rd starting around 10, opening for Fred Frith. Should we FAP somewhere nearby? I want to be able to do both.

clueless mom complaining about miley Cyrus (sarahell), Saturday, 19 October 2013 21:51 (twelve years ago)

hmm I think everyone's got competing agendas - would be best if I could meet somewhere after ye olde dining hour (ie around 8pm or so) as I have to get my mom dinner and drop her off at BART that evening after she's done babysitting my daughter. Which would work out for a pre-Knockout meetup (seeing as how that's also in my neighborhood) but EZ said earlier would be better and I don't know about Michael White... may have to scrap the plan

Ayn Rand Akbar (Shakey Mo Collier), Tuesday, 22 October 2013 21:45 (twelve years ago)

I might be able to do later but that's definitely not my preference.

EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 22 October 2013 23:10 (twelve years ago)

afraid I have to bow out, mom making things difficult - sorry to miss ya EZ

Ayn Rand Akbar (Shakey Mo Collier), Wednesday, 23 October 2013 15:28 (twelve years ago)

That's a bummer! I'm loving the area so I'm sure I'll be back. Next time.

EZ Snappin, Wednesday, 23 October 2013 16:40 (twelve years ago)

EZ, I can meet you in the Lower Haight if you want - earlyish - since I have a boatload of laundry to get started. Let me know.

The normative power of the factual (Michael White), Wednesday, 23 October 2013 17:36 (twelve years ago)

We'll that was a bummer. Michael and I were in the same bar for nearly two hours and didn't manage to meet. Sorry, sir. Sincerely sorry.

EZ Snappin, Thursday, 24 October 2013 03:05 (twelve years ago)

it creeped me out even more because it happened half an hour after I left a party that was 2 blocks away

sarahell, Monday, 18 November 2013 22:57 (twelve years ago)

That's sad

Ayn Rand Akbar (Shakey Mo Collier), Monday, 18 November 2013 23:30 (twelve years ago)

meanwhile, servin' and protectin:

so glad they're fighting this epidemic of people riding their bikes on the sidewalk

Ayn Rand Akbar (Shakey Mo Collier), Monday, 18 November 2013 23:56 (twelve years ago)

and also fighting the epidemic of 'resisting arrest.' i'm still baffled that a person can be cited for nothing but resisting arrest.

wmlynch, Tuesday, 19 November 2013 00:32 (twelve years ago)

he's being charged with assault with a deadly weapon. guess.

Professor Murder, on the sidewalk, with a bicycle!
