haha ok--sometimes i forget certain threads maintain the s/d format
but grammatically it would be "call all destroy the 3m cloud library app" iirc

ATTN: the podcast app was updated, looks iOS7-ish now
― 乒乓, Wednesday, 23 October 2013 19:46 (twelve years ago)
ya still behaves totally inexplicably tho
― socki (s1ocki), Wednesday, 23 October 2013 19:51 (twelve years ago)
I've "gone Downcast".
― Alba, Wednesday, 23 October 2013 22:34 (twelve years ago)
New podcast app a serious improvement in stability too - interface still strange though. FINALLY you can sort unplayed list oldest->newest.
― Elvis Telecom, Friday, 25 October 2013 06:20 (twelve years ago)
Am fucked off at the Music app and how the artists and albums views are now different. Artist view shows all tracks to all albums so I have to scroll down through 400 tracks for to get to the latest album of some artists, and you can't play or shuffle tracks from just one album without going to the separate album view.

i still can't figure out why this app does what it does. why does it list some episodes that i DONT have on my iphone and not others? why does it always erase podcasts when i sync to my computer if i've only listened to them partially? argh. i hate it. i hate it.
― socki (s1ocki), Friday, 25 October 2013 14:11 (twelve years ago)
Switch to Downcast.
― Alba, Friday, 25 October 2013 16:23 (twelve years ago)

Yes, it has an OS X client, though it does cost £5.99 I think in the UK.
I bought both and at first it wasn't syncing, then magically it was. I'm thinking it was maybe just an iCloud blip. In the meantime I contacted the developer and he was responsive and friendly.
― Alba, Friday, 25 October 2013 17:04 (twelve years ago)
Ah, Tweetbot takes the system font size

Why??? I like it. Especially the increased collections functionality.

Your not suffering from sluggish response time?
― Can One Hear the Shape of a Ron Decline Bottle? (James Redd and the Blecchs), Thursday, 9 January 2014 02:15 (twelve years ago)
Also what is the difference from previous collections functionality? Did you update this week?

― Madchen, Friday, 10 January 2014 09:47 (twelve years ago)
Blaaah, been looking for this for weeks:
There is an app out that records, via mic, your surrounding atmosphere. It takes some of these sounds, loops them, and ultimately produces you a soundtrack - to your immediate soundtrack. The app can actually make these songs on the spot, in some sense providing immediate reaction and orchestration for wherever you are navigating your life.
Anyone familiar? Feel like I ran across it while reading about WerkBench, but had an Android device back then - this was an iOS exclusive.

Was it RJDJ? http://rjdj.me
They used to have a generative sound app that did something like that.

Q: what is the best/least expensive app for recording audio and then exporting in a form other than .aac?
― funch dressing (La Lechera), Monday, 5 May 2014 18:38 (twelve years ago)
Does GarageBand only export to .aac?? idk I have never used it rly
― funny and lolexander (Stevie D(eux)), Monday, 5 May 2014 18:54 (twelve years ago)
i don't have gb on my phone
― funch dressing (La Lechera), Monday, 5 May 2014 18:55 (twelve years ago)
wait, you want us to recommend an app you already have on your phone?
― socki (s1ocki), Monday, 5 May 2014 18:57 (twelve years ago)
no, i want you to recommend an app that i can put onto my phone that will do what i want it to do?
― funch dressing (La Lechera), Monday, 5 May 2014 19:03 (twelve years ago)
i have iphone4, not sure if that matters
― funch dressing (La Lechera), Monday, 5 May 2014 19:04 (twelve years ago)
I have something called Voice Record HD which outputs as wav and syncs to dropbox.
― dan selzer, Monday, 5 May 2014 19:11 (twelve years ago)
do you like it? are the files huge? is there a time limit?
i have two priorities:
record and send things longer than 8 minexport in a non-space-hogging format other than .aac
― funch dressing (La Lechera), Monday, 5 May 2014 19:13 (twelve years ago)

― funch dressing (La Lechera), Monday, May 5, 2014 3:04 PM
it could. since it's older hardware certain apps might run slower. what version of ios you have installed is a consideration too b/c some apps could end up being ios 7 only. that being said, we'll have to leave the advice to others wrt specific apps. i have tried garageband though, and it has a lot of features but who knows if it'd be good for your purposes
― markers, Monday, 5 May 2014 19:14 (twelve years ago)
ok thxi probably need to upgrade something if i want to do what i want to do
― funch dressing (La Lechera), Monday, 5 May 2014 19:15 (twelve years ago)
I never use it. I'm sure the files are the same size as every other WAV file of that length. Why not just use aac and convert elsewhere?
― dan selzer, Monday, 5 May 2014 19:21 (twelve years ago)
it was an external request -- just trying to accommodate it
― funch dressing (La Lechera), Monday, 5 May 2014 19:31 (twelve years ago)
GarageBand for iOS is free but idk if it works w/ iPhone 4
― funny and lolexander (Stevie D(eux)), Monday, 5 May 2014 20:10 (twelve years ago)
wait it only does .m4a and .band
― funny and lolexander (Stevie D(eux)), Monday, 5 May 2014 20:12 (twelve years ago)
lol if that's true
― markers, Monday, 5 May 2014 20:15 (twelve years ago)
You can export lossless from the phone version of GB too. I think the desktop version of GB now exports mp3 in a recent update.
― Khamma chameleon (Jon Lewis), Tuesday, 6 May 2014 12:17 (twelve years ago)
ok good to know! as soon as i get around to updating my phone, i'll add GB
― funch dressing (La Lechera), Tuesday, 6 May 2014 12:34 (twelve years ago)
My method has been to export it from phone garageband in lossless and then use itunes on my computer to convert to mp3. Or export it as a garageband file if I want to fuck with mix and editing further on GB on my computer (this latter is the main reason I've stuck with GB as my 'recorder' when making shit on my phone).

Q: is there a good literary/advanced dictionary that integrates into ibooks (so that when you "define" a word in a novel that's above a 9th grade level you actually get a definition)?

I've been messing around with the Code Academy app. It seems like a very reasonable way to learn some basic coding skills, provided you aren't innately offended by gamification.

The Yo messaging app [Direct Link] debuted earlier this year and recently rocketed up the iOS App Store charts, where it currently sits at number five among top free iPhone apps in the United States. The simplistic app ... does nothing more than allow users to ping contacts with a simple "Yo" message
Life Before Us LLC, the company created by Abel, recently received $1 million in angel funding to continue development of the Yo app.
