HANNIBAL on NBC seems amazing and therefore deserves it's own thread!

On rewatch I am appreciating the sound design and musical cues even more. My initial viewing was very much influenced by the fact that I knew the nature of Hannibal Lecter's character. This time through, it seems really obvious that Will Graham is the killer. Completely believable that the other characters would think he was.

Yeah tbh I was surprised that Alana Bloom believed Will when he said he was framed.

this show is weird, like, until that episode i felt like it didn't know what game it was playing, then the last fifteen minutes of that one (montage to chirpy classical of hannibal's recipe cards and offal cookery shots, cut to will and the medical examiners staring at series of bodies) was some of the most bravura tv i have seen

bravura is such an annoying emergent cliché to use of anything

Is this streaming on anything? I slacked off watching it on Hulu because watching stuff on my PC is an unbelievably aggravating experience and Amazon proudly announced they'd negotiated rights to stream it for Prime members, only to drop it a few weeks later...

because once he's caught they can probably get a lot of mileage out of reversing the whole visiting-hannibal-in-prison track that was laid down in prior verions

They have continued to say that they'll deal with that problem when it arrives, which should be 2 years or so from now.

Not only that, they've also cast Katharine Isabelle (from Ginger Snaps and American Mary) as Margot Verger, which makes it sound like they might be setting things up for the utterly gonzo batshit elements of Hannibal the novel that didn't make it into the movie.

apparently MGM can't use Hannibal in their Clarice Starling show though? Quite a pickle

there are so many places where instead of doing the usual somewhat unaffected, or normally 'emoting' reaction shot in a conversation, hannibal will just be like STILL until it's time to respond, esp. when he's talking to will and will is caught up in some thing he's trying to get out, but when will is with the other investigators often HE'LL be still, but without being affectless, instead like he's just trying to bear continuing to exist until it comes his turn to force out a remark to communicate one of his insights about the case

also, caroline dhavernas, <3 <3 <3, gonna be so bummed when they end up killing her off
