Ny times pranked by idiots or led on by douchebags, either way it is a hilarious awful read.
naw, it's just the NYT being its same old quiddities self -- they just brought their schtick to Minneapolis, is all.

lol I like how 'lives in whittier, drinks in uptown' is made to sound like this low-earner's hardship, like living in astoria or something

They cited a dsm taco place this week and got 2/3 of the details wrong or out of date

"It’s surely no accident that in “Let’s Go Crazy,” the Minneapolis native Prince describes the afterworld as a place where “you can always see the sun, day or night.” Some eight miles downtown are connected by skyways to shield pedestrians from snow, hail and cold, turning the area into a a kind of human ant farm. "
THIS IS AMAZING

Can someone explain the southwest LRT controversy to me? The impression I get is that the opponents (or people who are perpetually in favor of "looking for other options") are largely rich people who are using environmental arguments like "lake drainage" or the idiotic claim that "people won't use it" as a cover for actual concerns about things like property values and the potential presence of poor people.
― Dan I., Saturday, 26 October 2013 02:46 (twelve years ago)
That even Hodges seems overly concerned with Rich People Issues like this is why I'm pretty sure I'm going to put Cohen and Samuels in for #1 and #2 on my ballot.
Sorry to hijack this thread with Minneapolis-only issues. Is there a better thread for this to have gone on?
― Dan I., Saturday, 26 October 2013 02:49 (twelve years ago)
Nah, I may be a stpaulish type but I have a vested interest in dicks fighting public transportation anywhere in our fair cities
― ACA: not bad, needs more death panels (jjjusten), Saturday, 26 October 2013 03:16 (twelve years ago)
otoh, apparently Cohen is against the SW line altogether. It seems like Samuels is the only candidate who doesn't have at least one highly objectionable position. I mean, that "six families" thing is weird, but

Danger Boat Productions is excited to announce a first-of-its-kind forum and debate featuring the leading candidates for mayor of Minneapolis and hosted by the improv theater troupe The Theater of Public Policy. Never before have the top candidates vying to lead a major metropolitan city participated in a live, on-stage conversation that was then interpreted and performed in real time by improvisers.
