Todd corners Jesse and Walt after their successful Nazi massacre, says "nothing personal" as he readies himself to pull the trigger, gets shot by Hank, Walt says "I thought you were dead?", Hank says "nope", cue 'Any Way You Want It' and a full-cast party.

i kinda feel like 'does Walt live' is a stupid question -- even setting aside the cancer and everything else, any situation in which he lives, there'd still be a story worth having a show about, barring the "he hides out in a cabin for the rest of his life" scenario they already played out and then dismissed

That was really well constructed, imo. Didn't feel rushed, didn't feel padded.

but it really fit the show I thought - the whole show from season one has had that kinda thing. it was a stretch, but the show's full of stretches. "enslaved by nazis to cook meth" is a bigger stretch than the mcguyver gun imo

Definitely wanna watch again, but satisfying overall.

A good episode: the restaurant meeting with Todd and Lydia built tension perfection. I guess I don't like explicit scenes -- I didn't need Walt to spell out why he was doing this when I guess most of us knew for years.

I'm relieved, though, that we got no Flynn, only one scene with Skylar and Marie apiece.

thematically i didn't love it (in the end Walt pretty much got all he wanted, as far as leaving money to his family, and not losing anyone he cared about besides Hank, who he didn't even like when the show started), but as far as execution it was pretty damn well done, lots of great individual scenes that fell together perfectly.

by avoiding histrionics for the most part (outside of the trunk gun, obv), made for a better finale. Walt died (somewhat) redeemed.

I mean his body count is way too high, too many lives destroyed by him directly or indirectly, to come even close to doing that just by Home Alone-machine gunning a buncha Nazis down. But at least he showed some remorse, helped his remaining family out a bit, and well....didn't kill anybody else that didn't deserve it.

really loved & would write thinkpiece about the moment when Jack tries to squirm out of getting shot and Walt doesn't listen - that's the redemptive moment, Walt is no longer in the game in any way and isn't hearing any offers. he's done; he's dead to all that.

it did seem perfect and appropriate for the show. wrapping everything together in a neat/satisfying way.

what does 'redemption' really mean? marie, skyler, walt jr and even holly are going to have a really hard time in life regardless of whether anyone gets $9 million
