I had a fake ID with my actual birthday on it. Made it easier to remember in case a bouncer questioned me about it. Of course, that was a bogus NJ driver's license that I used to get into bars in a college town and not a bulletproof new identity that I paid for to escape federal drug prosecution for my activities as a notorious meth cook and distributor.

he didn't get the fake id to buy booze or anything, why wouldn't the fake id have his real birth date?

yeah I've heard speculation about this. In particular, speculation that Walt looks a lot dirtier when he gets the ricin than he does when he gets the gun.
