Is it entirely beyond the realms of possibility that the drug money might end up in that charitable foundation?
i floated this idea last night, but the gf didn't seem think to think Walt would want people who aren't his family getting it, no matter how much it looked like they could take it and didn't want it.
It would've been nice to see his mom/family at some point,
i only just realized this this morning, that we've never seen his or Skylar's parents! i was trying to think if walt had lived his whole life in Arizona, but I had no idea since they've never really done any back story for Walt outside of Grey Mater.

*like the couldn't take the money
I don't really know what the police would normally do with $70m or so in drug money.

there have been references to a strained relationship between Walt and his mom
the money thing doesn't make any sense - this episode seemed to make it abundantly clear that there's no way to get the money to his family, even if he could get it all back from the nazis. I guess he could get it back from the nazis and then burn it all lol
― what's up ugly girls? (Shakey Mo Collier), Monday, 23 September 2013 17:00 (twelve years ago)
with the nazis, i'd image it's more the principal than the actual money. $8 or $80mil - doesn't make a difference when you've taken it from the mighty Heisenberg!

as the Whites they couldn't take the money, but what if say the vacuum cleaner man relocated them and they came up with some cover story explaining why their new identities were rich
Skylar and Flynn wouldn't want to do that at this point though, they already refused to run away with Walt
― dmr, Monday, 23 September 2013 17:08 (twelve years ago)
but yeah I think at this point it's more the principle of the thing

What about Walt's character suggests to you that he will see sense at this point?

Re:parents-- Walt watched his dad die of Huntington's disease when he was young
The answer to why Walt ditched Gretchen on that vacation must be pretty important if they've waited until the last episode to spill it. That used to seem like the central mystery of BB but so much has happened that i kind of forgot they hadn't answered it.
― President Keyes, Monday, 23 September 2013 17:16 (twelve years ago)
Walt's always been delusional and wrong and prideful but he's never been flat-out nuts - and I guess the circumstances go beyond explaining how he's lost his mind at this point - but it's a little frustrating as a viewer if it ends up with him chasing down things that don't even make any sense

Yeah, I was hoping that the show would wrap up with something a little more subtle and substantial than a balls-out GTA mission. That said, I literally have no idea what's going to happen in this last episode, and I have faith in this creative team, so I'm pretty excited.

like he's right now interested in "if I can't give my family the money then this was ALL FOR NOTHING," I think he's said that phrase "all for nothing" twice? next week is descent into nihilism

"Yeah, we named our company after Walter and me by combining our last names ... but he had nothing to do with the company."
Mm hmm, yeah, that makes perfect sense bud

is it all about getting recognized for his achievements?
imo this is it--it's never been about doing it for his family as much as it's been about being heralded as a Man Who Did It For His Family, who made good on his promise as a scientist by using it to do something good for his son. it's why he was so insulted by the gray matter ppl's initial offer to help pay for treatment: he's not a Man That Takes Charity, fuck you, he's a Man That Uses His Intellect to Leave a Legacy.
he's just too much of a covert narcissist to admit that doing it for his family is really about being recognized as that guy.

Charlie Rose was basically giving Walt credit for the Todd/Jesse blue meth, so he has left a legacy in a sense

Todd getting ribbed about being sweet on Lydia followed by the scene where he's obviously trying to say how well they work together was so ridiculous

lydias reaction to the meth being blue again was p good, she cant get enough
― lag∞n, Monday, 23 September 2013 18:13 (twelve years ago)
feel like a lot of the less, let's say "agile," plot mechanisms in this latter half of the season are the result of the writers working backwards. Todd's infatuation with Lydia, for instance, seems like it's a way to engineer a reason for someone to still be cooking the meth. not that it's not believable (as much as anything else in the show), it's just the puzzle pieces falling into place this time around feel a little bit too much like puzzle pieces. perhaps that's the peril of endings.
― ryan, Monday, 23 September 2013 18:17 (twelve years ago)
I feel like Todd is my dead-eyed stand-in now, it's only natural he has these feelings
maybe Todd as the interested viewer trying to be in the story is an angle

Following a botched escape, Jesse (Aaron Paul) gets taken to Andrea's house and looks on in horror as Todd unflinchingly shoots her in the back of the head on her front porch. First Jane, and now this? Mr. Pinkman just can't catch a break when it comes to the ladies.
