ugh, the andrea thing bummed me out more than anything that's happened on BB yet. jesse HAS to kill walt now. it's the only ending that will satisfy me.

i'm glad they stuck the Robert Forster introduction at the beginning so I could feel like "nice, Robert Forster!" for a bit before settling in for an hour of misery

Nhex, Monday, 23 September 2013 06:07 (twelve years ago)

It's interesting to me how this show that features crime and cops and yet has almost zero incarceration, that is, incarceration as a way of closing a plot thread. Especially since the Night Of Makeshift Knives made it clear that incarceration means nothing in this show. I'd imagine now that all Nazis will die but Lydia will somehow be locked up and yet and yet has that happened to anybody on this show? It's been like brains or nothing

flamboyant goon tie included, Monday, 23 September 2013 06:09 (twelve years ago)

a poll's not gonna cover all the death spreads for next episode

the ricin - is it for Walt's old friends at Grey Matter?

my guess: Lydia goes out Hitler-style, like her Madrigal compatriot in Germany

Nhex, Monday, 23 September 2013 06:16 (twelve years ago)

One way for Jesse to keep Brock alive (and Andrea if he's acted early enough) would be suicide. Don't fancy trying to kill myself with a paperclip but where there's a will...

i hope walt's going back to NM to gun down gretchen & elliott and when skyler sees him and is like 'you came back to take the fall for us...' hes like 'huh, what?'

i wanna be a gabbneb baby (Hungry4Ass), Monday, 23 September 2013 10:01 (twelve years ago)

it was hard to tell whether Walt reacted more to E&G dismissing his contributions to Grey Matter or the news that the blue meth was still out there. I don't know if they can fit Walt going after the Nazis and E&G into one episode. Though it is fitting that after Flynn shredded Walt's "I did it all for my family" delusion, he immediately is confronted with his real motivation, ego.

was he for real about giving himself up? but then changed his mind once he saw that tv report?

Walt should have given a few speeches about the Tea Party

Weird to see Walt surrounded by snow after five seasons of baking Albuquerque landscapes, especially after the desert scenes of the last couple of episodes. He's out in the cold in every sense, I guess.

I don't see how Walt gets out of the state/gets to NM without encountering law enforcement esp. after alerting them to where he is/what he looks like.

One bad call from barely losing to (Alex in SF), Monday, 23 September 2013 12:28 (twelve years ago)

the whole calling the cops thing was a calculated gambit to focus attention on NH, he wants a head start traveling to the last place they expect to see him, NM, prolly half the ppl working his case are en route to NH now

rural places do tend to have a one road in / one road out layout tho, this is a suspen of disbe situation we got here

I thought it was funny that even the school calls Walt Jr "Flynn" now, and then I realized that even though he's been using that nickname since S1, he's probably going by Flynn full-time now because he doesn't want to go by Walt Jr anymore. I was glad there were no scenes of Flynn being taunted by other schoolkids cuz I thought that was coming.

Neanderthal, Monday, 23 September 2013 13:01 (twelve years ago)

was hoping they'd show him running a numbers game out of the lunch room and ruthlessly outsmarting his adversaries in the locker rooms

Wonder what's going to come out of that last phone call. Obviously the authorities already know where Walt was, but have to wonder if the Feds are going to try and contact Flynn to see what happened during that conversation. Can't really keep it a secret, p sure the principal and his teacher know he isn't calling his aunt an asshole.

Agreed about Andrea's death being the most brutal thus far (mostly because all . I had to talk my girlfriend down last week (she was strongly Team Hank) and tell her that it was probably all about taking one last hardcore trip down Bleak Boulevard to show the ultimate cost of Walt's path, and that the last two episodes would probably be lacking much in the way of brutality towards sympathetic characters. Oops.

It occurred to me last night (while I was half-asleep, so it's a half-formed theory at best but seems to have a whiff of truth to it) that the "badness" in this show can be seen as a terminal cancer metaphor. It crept slowly and almost imperceptibly into the lives of those affected, and things have been bleak at points prior to this, and there have been periods of remission when things were seemingly okay and stretches where it seemed like everyone could fight fate, but now everything has metastasized and it doesn't seem like it could possibly end well. I guess I was hoping that the end would be a little more fun than bleak, but I really can't fault Gilligan & Co. for going the route that they have.

Coke Opus (Old Lunch), Monday, 23 September 2013 13:49 (twelve years ago)

the ending got me really pumped, with the album cut of the breaking bad theme playing. robert forester was cool to see, and i liked that they didnt get cutesy with his character - alright i'll stay for an hour, if you give me 10 grand. yes, i'm going to steal all your money when you die. walt slowly wasting away in the cabin and going mad from isolation was pretty brutal

i wanna be a gabbneb baby (Hungry4Ass), Monday, 23 September 2013 13:49 (twelve years ago)

Oops redux. That should've read (mostly because all I can picture is what Brock will have to confront when he wakes up).

Todd's weird mix of sociopathy and eagerness-to-please really came out in this episode, such a great character.

Loved the Grey Matter thing coming back as well, a reminder that Walt's insane hubris ultimately comes from professional frustration. Any sense of right and wrong just completely trashed by being made to look like an insignificant chemist on national TV.

Obviously Walt now knows Jesse is still alive and can't cope with the prospect of Jesse potentially getting rich and becoming the kingpin off his formula. Obviously he doesn't know Jesse's being kept as a meth slave.

Jesse presumably has no idea where Walt is or what's been happening to him, for all he knows Walt directly ordered Andrea's death. So there's a load of false assumptions there that will fuel whatever happens when they come face to face.

That said, before Walt does anything else he's probably going to turn up and try and offer Skylar a suitcase full of money.

One thing I didn't get though, how the hell did the Nazis get into Skylar's house in the first place? Surely it would have been crawling with DEA?

Matt DC, Monday, 23 September 2013 14:45 (twelve years ago)

they showed that one unmarked car sitting in front of the house, but they were apparently terrible at their jobs.

definitely a really cool moment when I realized it was the long cut of the intro theme - liked the audio cementing the death of "Walter White" along with it

Guess Jesse's epic "Bitch!" will be in the finale.
