Listen up PUNKS! We need to all unite! I owed $120.00 for two weeks rent to the St. Matthews House three years ago, and because I spent that money on my probation fees so I wouldn't be violated and sent to prison, which would cause the SuicIdols to retire before we even began, I want you all to call this phone number starting tomorrow morning, and let them know you're disgusted that a homeless shelter would care more about money than the homeless they're supposedly helping! Maybe a million phone calls interrupting their counting of stacks of money will force them to use their fucking heads and realize that they're really using God and the Christian religion as a tool to control the wet brained meek of this New Babylon city! (239)774-0500 is the St. Matthews House office phone number, call it and voice your opinion, and maybe the SuicIdols will still stand a chance. We won't if I'm thrown in jail for violating probation because I'm homeless! Trust me, we're gonna be worth it! So call that fucking number tomorrow, I wanna wake up to the sound of a phone ringing a million times, not an alarm clock. You've got your mission, punks, should you choose to accept it. May the force be with you all....

Get a job you bum.

christhamrin (christhamrin), Sunday, 7 March 2004 03:29 (twenty years ago) link

I got two jobs: 1.to become the next punk rock legend, and 2.to keep all you cyberpunks enetertained! Unfortunately, neither one of them are paying the bills.

Smash, Sunday, 7 March 2004 04:58 (twenty years ago) link

Well, then get a third job that pays.

Aja (aja), Sunday, 7 March 2004 05:02 (twenty years ago) link

Maybe you could sell your character to The Onion or something? Might be a little to similar to Jim Anchower...

christhamrin (christhamrin), Sunday, 7 March 2004 06:56 (twenty years ago) link

Well, I tried, but, dammit! it looks like the SuicIdols are going to be put on hold for a while. I got one chance left to stay in Naples and out of jail, but if not, I might be going home to Port Angeles and taking my probation with me. I've got to call some friends of a friend back at 10:00 P.M. EST, and if they don't let me move in with them, I'll be going solo on a six month to one year tour. So keep an eye on this thread, 'cause it's "The Final Countdown." (That was for all you hair metal fags that keep corrupting my shit with Ratt and Trixter pics!)

"Aaron Dilloway (guitar, voice), John Olson (drums, intros), and Michael Troutman (bass) live together in Ann Arbor, skateboard every day, and play in a band aptly named Violent Ramp. Inspired by seminal skate-rock like JFA, the Faction, and Negative Approach, Aaron and John decided their other band (industrial dub trio Wolf Eyes) didn’t afford them enough opportunities to truly destroy. After hooking up with their roommate Michael, himself a young veteran of Michigan’s music scene, and eschewing their other projects’ art/noise leanings, Aaron and John started the band as a conduit for old-school, good- times violence.

Less than a year old, Violent Ramp has already developed a rabid following in their home state and a growing cult nationwide on word of mouth alone. Skaters, noise nerds, artists, and punks both young and old turn out for the party. The shows are pure chaos. At every performance to date they’ve set up skate obstacles in front of their equipment for the audience to thrash. This past New Years they destroyed the Elbow Room in Ypsilanti and were banned for life. P.A., mics, mic stands, monitors - everything was broken. According to John, “We were grabbing out the ceiling tiles and breaking them over people’s heads. Even had a fight in my room that night. Killer.” - Russ Waterhouse, Vice Mag

This is their debut recording.

the Elbow Room was where I helped do sound and book shows back in michigan.

i don't know if any band has actually been banned from there, except from a coupla metal bands that felt the need to try to steal mic stands and break the urinals.

I used to be punk, like, a couple of years ago. But now I have massive credit card debt, a clean apartment, and I make coffee for executives (and don't put poison in it).

Minutes later, at six o'clock, all the Japanese businessmen began their daily trek to their offices and I let em all have it! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! It was fucking hilarious seeing them all run for cover, screaming in terror like we were dropping another fucking Fat Man or Little Boy on their wannabe Samurai asses! Those supposed Ninja never saw that one coming! Or that one, or that one, or that one, or that one either. I spent sixteen hours in a dirty interrogation room, like you see in the movies, after a couple hour chase, but it was fucking worth it! Now that's punk, you wannabe's, and don't think I made that one up, it's the truth, and I've got better stories to fill your bored minds with, but I'll save them for later. See you on the streets! Smash. Over. Out.

I miss Smash...

I guess I was punk in attitude though not in style when I was a teen: I was in a local anarchist group, I went to all the animal rights demonstrations, a lot of my friends were punks, I hung with them at the railway station and in parks drinking moonshine, etc. I was even involved in arranging the first outdoors anarchist music festival in Finland. But besides that I only ever went to two punk gigs myself; I wore colourful clothes and listened to techno, so I guess I wasn't a true punk rocker.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Sunday, 18 December 2005 14:51 (eighteen years ago) link
