there was a story about how the 5c had trouble selling out during preorders, i lol'd because macrumors framed it as 'iphone 5 supplies holding up well' instead of 'nobody, literally nobody wants to buy an iphone 5c'

all the parts except the case are the same as the 5 that theyve been making for a year so it stands to reason there shouldnt be any supply chain issues

if you want to force an update, backup yr phone, go to settings->general->reset->erase all content and settings, and then set up as a new iphone. once you get through the activation screens the update will start downloading. however this process is not for the faint of heart and I wouldn't recommend it if the idea of losing something you backed up bothers you. I don't keep much stuff on my work phone so I don't mind blowing it all away.

There are a few significant 5c technical upgrades over the 5, including an improved 1.2mp front camera (because we all want better looking selfies) and a chipset that supports more LTE frequencies. In the US, unlocked handsets can now be interchanged between AT&T, Verizon, and I think T-Mobile; Sprint's is still different.
