Never thought of it before, but Charlie Rose would be a great voice-only Charlie for Charlie's Angels.
Also, maybe he'll be doing a drug-war analysis with Jeffrey Toobin on a TV in the background in some diner.

ok guys i have a theory how this show ends.
jr. asks skilore "I just don't understand. Even after the cancer. How... how could he become that person? How could dad do those things?"
And she says "I guess some people just break bad."

i was thinking a "boiiinnng" sound effect. but that works, or michael jackson's bad cues up and zombie hank and gomie climb out of the hole and start dancing

I'm probably in the minority but i do miss the hijinks and black comedy of earlier seasons. but then I'm less enthralled and convinced by the darker turn of the show (obviously necessary for the story it wants to tell). the A to B construction is obviously the big pleasure of the show but it's very limited.

i felt that way about the first half of s5, but the 2nd half has been pretty satisfying for me.

Walter acting churlish to Jesse, as if he was the "dumb sidekick" prior to meeting Saul were some of my favorite comic moments
― Neanderthal, Monday, 16 September 2013 21:58 (twelve years ago)
one thing i'm curious about is whether they always knew walt would go this dark, or if they eventually realized it was the only plausible outcome of the choice he took.
― da croupier, Monday, 16 September 2013 22:02 (twelve years ago)
Jesse explaining Ice Road Truckers to Walt and his response was a good example of what made them an entertaining duo.

I meant to add .. while they were still friends, but that episode ends with them beating each other to a pulp.

is better call saul really going to be a comedy we can laff at knowing WHAT THE FUTURE HOLDS
― conrad, Monday, 16 September 2013 22:26 (twelve years ago)
Yeah I still can't believe it's going to be a prequel - just let saul live and show him sticking to ambulance chasing. I don't think it's a foregone conclusion that he has to die or anything. His name didn't even come up this episode!
― da croupier, Monday, 16 September 2013 22:32 (twelve years ago)
Walt used him to get in contact with the identity guy, I would guess

― conrad, Monday, 16 September 2013 22:44 (twelve years ago)
yeah not necessarily, walt already had the dudes business card as some1 pointed out
― johnny crunch, Monday, 16 September 2013 22:46 (twelve years ago)
wouldnt the van identity guy be a better spinoff show
btw p sure you could piece together this entire ep via predictions made upthread
otm, it's all been pretty predictable the last while, though the horror of it has carried it through.
is it not weird the nazis still want to cook with 80m dollars on the back of a truck? like i know they're criminals and all but that does seem a fairly big retirement sum.
walt jr really can't act, didn't think skyler was great here either.
the big q for me is what is walt's unfinished business.
sleep with the old boss at the high school? visit ballyborreen, ancestral home of his irish forefathers?

I don't think the cooking is a nazi scheme rather than todd proving his love for lydia by making her some blue stuff

― Damo Suzuki's Parrot, Monday, 16 September 2013 22:52 (twelve years ago)
walt has to come back to kill nazis if not save jesse though it sort of doesn't matter at this point - the nazis don't represent much more than chaos that walt has unleashed upon everything and killing them won't really wrap up v much or rectify anything unless ok they're a threat to skylar/jr I dunno and if saving jesse is a heroic thing it's kinda dumb too since he could have let jesse hide under his car a bit longer although then jesse might have tried to kill him after the nazis were gone and now that they've tortured him and enslaved him under threat of brock and mom he will be grateful to be liberated and hug him (walter)
― conrad, Monday, 16 September 2013 22:55 (twelve years ago)

Charlie Rose plays "old Jesse," telling walt's tale to his grand children before pulling out that ricin cig and lighting it
― da croupier, Monday, 16 September 2013 23:04 (twelve years ago)
isn't it more likely Jesse escapes Nazis, and Walt is coming to save family from Jesse? More drama if the final face-off is Walt vs. Jesse than Walt vs. Nazi. Admitting to Jesse that he killed Jane felt to me like the writers' tipping their hand to make sure the audience is 100% sure Jesse will want to take revenge onWalt - even if it means Jesse doing so in an uncharacteristically nasty way. Also after all he's piled on Jesse now - is it believable Walt suddenly feels bad and risks everything to save him?
― brio, Monday, 16 September 2013 23:04 (twelve years ago)
he did seem to be cracking a bit near the end.
i agree tho it's a stretch, but i can't see jesse trying to hurt walt's family.
― Evil Juice Box Man (LocalGarda), Monday, 16 September 2013 23:07 (twelve years ago)
may as well go for the really grim ending where the nazis comprehensively win, why not.
― Waluigi Nono (Merdeyeux), Monday, 16 September 2013 23:07 (twelve years ago)
so now walt is gone from his family and in a mega worse way than if he'd just bloody died of cancer quietly and he hasn't even managed to leave them any money at all the carwash should really be confiscated have an a1 life
― conrad, Monday, 16 September 2013 23:07 (twelve years ago)
walt gets shot trying to save jesse from the nazis, jesse saves walt, saul and huell show up with horses, huell laughing that the dog was named indy
― da croupier, Monday, 16 September 2013 23:08 (twelve years ago)
idg why walt would care about "saving" jesse - he just handed him off to get murdered.
I can see how he would care if Lydia/nazis are trying to kill skyler & co.

"jesse might have tried to kill him after the nazis were gone and now that they've tortured him and enslaved him under threat of brock and mom he will be grateful to be liberated and hug him (walter)"
I guess this would be the Pulp Fiction ending with Bruce Willis breaking out Ving Rhames from Zed and the Gimp with Jesse making a couple of calls to call a couple of pipe hitting guys he knows (Skinny Pete & Badger) to finish the job.
― earlnash, Monday, 16 September 2013 23:13 (twelve years ago)
jack still asked walt if he was okay with that.
― Evil Juice Box Man (LocalGarda), Monday, 16 September 2013 23:16 (twelve years ago)
if they're gonna go pulp fiction, then Walt already shot Skinny Pete while making breakfast before Jesse made the call
damn walt always getting on jesse's bad side
― da croupier, Monday, 16 September 2013 23:16 (twelve years ago)
he doidnt pass on jesse getting murdered, just said he was ok with them torturing him first - todd said theyd "do the job" after
― brio, Monday, 16 September 2013 23:40 (twelve years ago)
the only reason i wouldn't mind seeing jesse come after walt's fam is because otherwise jesse and walt jr will never have had a scene together (iirc) and always thought that could've been amazing - too late now tho i guess
think walt will go after nazis just to get money back but end up teaming up reluctantly with jesse in the process. expecting some real gung-ho vengeance from jesse on nazis and todd somehow tho (but maybe a hollow victory), if not also to a lesser extent (not for want of trying) on walt.
― nashwan, Monday, 16 September 2013 23:48 (twelve years ago)
Jesse's not into murdering people, can't really picture him going after Walt's family

― i wanna be a gabbneb baby (Hungry4Ass), Monday, 16 September 2013 23:50 (twelve years ago)
There is no way he's coming back to "save Jesse". He's the reason why Jesse needed to be saved, he's not going to suddenly get a change of heart after 9 months just because it turns out he wasn't killed 8 months and 28 days earlier. It's some threat to Skyler/WaltJr/Holly/Marie that's forcing him to bring out the big guns.
― One bad call from barely losing to (Alex in SF), Monday, 16 September 2013 23:50 (twelve years ago)

idk, having him killed or even tortured and killed in short order is a lot different than nine months of meth slavery and abuse
but yeah, pretty unlikely
