I'm thinking the next up will pick up with the stuff we've seen in flash forward (Walt coming back) and will backfill a little bit of the "how did Heisenberg get written on his wall" or "how'd he get this giant gun" but with only two episodes left they're not gonna spend one of em on Walt renting an apartment in New Hampsire
― dmr, Monday, 16 September 2013 15:02 (twelve years ago)
xp true, could be a moonlighting soccer mom picking some extra bucks
coming more around to the theory that the Heisenberg scrawl was a message sent to him indirectly to come back home, somehow

Next ep will be a relatively calm and quiet one I feel.
This is probably a safe assumption to make about any episode of any television show in relation to last night's episode, yes.

I'm having flashbacks to the penultimate episode of Lost, which featured none of the main cast iirc.
I would be down for a whole episode of Walt doing normal things in New Hampshire or where ever identity guy drops him off though.

trying to grasp where saul's head is at right now. does he still think huell is after them? i kind of assumed he knew about walt doing the disappear but walt has the disappearer's card so he might not have involved saul at all.

wondering if Jesse is still alive in the flashforwards and part of why Walt comes back is he finds out they're using him as a meth slave, and he returns for that reason. partially because he realizes he does still care about Jesse, but really because he knows that Jesse is _his_ meth slave and is pissed that the neo-nazis are using him as theirs

if you are replying to something in a post and another post comes up in the meantime before you save, people write "xpost" to show they were referring to something higher up in the thread and not what's immediately above.
― dmr, Monday, 16 September 2013 15:20 (twelve years ago)
xpost means cross-post, i.e. responding to something not immediately upthread.
typically happens when you've composed a reply, clicked 'submit post' and then been notified of intervening posts, you add an xpost to make clear the context is back a bit. (xpost)

the Nazis have good reason for trying to dispose of Sky-Ra and Marie, so that could be another thing behind the return + the destroyed house.
― Waluigi Nono (Merdeyeux), Monday, 16 September 2013 15:26 (twelve years ago)
I wonder how much Heisenberg we're going to see from this point on, if any. It seems that, to some extent, the whole Heisenberg persona rested on and was fueled by a crumbling foundation of lies (the most essential of which was the lie Walt told himself that this has all been for the good of his family). The framing device of this episode seemed to present the first lie that set the Heisenberg nightmare machine in motion and the final lie which brought it to a grinding halt. Walt has regained his humanity and seen through his own bullshit at the exact point when doing so is going to cause him the most pain. Now he's just a guy who has to deal with the fallout of his decisions.
― Coke Opus (Old Lunch), Monday, 16 September 2013 15:27 (twelve years ago)
damn it people, the house didn't look that destroyed, it just looked abandoned and it seemed that kids had been breaking in and using it as a hangout

walt's motivations from here on out are kind of a mystery to me - basically will it be revenge or redemption

Would people be upset if he gets his moment of redemption?
I think I'm basically still rooting for Walt at this point but I've gone back and forth through this series.
I also think Gilligan's banging on about the whole "Mr Chips to Scarface" thing is misdirection on his part.

I'm tired of Jesse fucking up, Jesse losing out, Jesse getting saved by Walt. I assumed at some point he'd come out on top but I'm done assuming, after my confidant "Hank doesn't die" posts.
― dan selzer, Monday, 16 September 2013 15:46 (twelve years ago)
At this point, I don't care at all what happens to Walt, but I do hope that he has an opportunity to fix as much of his damage as possible. I think he (or some part of him) realizes he's damned and beyond redemption but that he has an opportunity to derail some of the evil wheels he's set in motion. I wager we'll get the duel satisfaction of seeing some things put right and seeing Walt get some form of comeuppance.
I'm also willing to bet that the remaining protagonists ultimately make it out alive and relatively okay and that the antagonists are like solid gone man.

Breaking Bad Death Pool Poll - Season 5 - Episode 15 (Sept 22 2013)
― brio, Monday, 16 September 2013 15:55 (twelve years ago)
my big problem with bringing back jane was that I assumed its only potential value would be "yet more motivation for jesse to attack walt," as jesse attacking walt was major plot-motivator at the moment. i never could have guessed that jesse would be helpless an episode later, and that it would be used by walt as a knife-twisting move, the motivation for which being either "walt fucking hates jesse" or "walt wants jesse to hate him" or both.
This show is amazing.

ya this seems like the most likely impetus for walts return, particularly as driven by lydias fastidiousness for tying up loose ends whoever said that upthread

its not abandoned or destroyed its a crime scene w a big ass fence around it
i keep thinking about how dean norris played hank's death - imo he managed to get both defiance and a regret in those stares
