It's the kind of mawkish sentimental comic crap that was brought to mind when that Bill Waterson tribute came out a few weeks ago. But if you go read hundreds of Calvin & Hobbes comic you might find six panels in all of those which have no text and meaningful silence. This gif is like nothing but that.

ok one point for reddit here. via an academic reddit with roughly 6 posts/month I just saw a preprint of a potentially very important paper i hadn't heard about through other channels, asked some questions about this work, and within a half hour received a response from another person doing well known work along the same lines, clarifying how he interpreted these potential new results.

would it be nice if this interaction happened on sites that didn't also play host to mra forums and have frontpages filled with incoherent gifs about feels? probably, yeah. does it? not in this field as far as i know.

Many small subreddits have lots of nice and engaging people.
