Yo

quincie, Saturday, 14 September 2013 04:45 (twelve years ago)

Tonight I violated one of my cooking rules and now I am grumpy.

quincie, Saturday, 14 September 2013 04:45 (twelve years ago)

what was the rule?

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 14 September 2013 04:53 (twelve years ago)

The rule is to pass over recipes that require one to manipulate each and every unit. Tonight's case: meatballs. With the exact same ingredients, I cold have made a tasty ragu/bolognese with 1/24 the hassle. See also: Sandra Lee cookie recipes, which has you use canned cookie dough, then have to handle each fucking cookie multiple times for various types of pre-made icing and decorations and shit.

I'm experienced enough as a cook that I should know better than this. I *do* know better than this, which is why I have a rule. Which I failed to follow. GAH.

sleepingbag, Saturday, 21 September 2013 00:08 (twelve years ago)

no, but i wouldn't recommend it! i'm sure after some point you'd want more

markers, Saturday, 21 September 2013 01:16 (twelve years ago)

I left the North again
I travelled South again
I got stuck in fucking Solihull for an hour because the M42 was fucking closed and the motorway people are useless gits, I saw a man w'i no trousers
& I can't help the way I feel (really really knackered, bit hungry)

you may not like it now but you will (Zora), Saturday, 21 September 2013 01:22 (twelve years ago)

anyone

markers, Saturday, 28 September 2013 02:36 (twelve years ago)

mr veg cooking hamburgers for dinner
am about to watch The Soup
and then at 9pm I will be listening to 2 comedians do a live radio broadcast of the AFL grand final of australian football because they're not televising it anywhere that I can watch for free and I get so fucking tired of trolling the web for streams that aren't full of malware, and footy on the radio gives me major nostalgia so it's all good

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 28 September 2013 02:40 (twelve years ago)

who's playing/who are we rooting for

mookieproof, Saturday, 28 September 2013 02:41 (twelve years ago)

Hawks and Fremantle *shrug*

I'm rooting (lol) for the Hawks but only because they're the melbourne team and I'm still kinda jingoistic about out-of-state teams, even though the league has been Australia-wide for decades

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 28 September 2013 02:53 (twelve years ago)

i'm sick with a cold and my bf went out to get me matzoh ball soup. he is a hero.

what a guy! srsly, that is love

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 28 September 2013 02:55 (twelve years ago)

who is your team? should i have said 'supporting'? i thought you were from melb

will the woman end judge/ref/umpire/whatever be involved? basically all i know of aussie rules comes from the mid 80s when espn could not yet afford other things

mookieproof, Saturday, 28 September 2013 02:57 (twelve years ago)

my team is carlton, they bombed out a while back

majority of AFL teams originate from suburbs of melbourne, back when it was the VFL. sydney was the first out of state team in the 80's. there's quite a few out of state teams now.

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 28 September 2013 03:10 (twelve years ago)

lady umpire was in last year, but i dunno if she's in the lineup this year

cardamon, Saturday, 28 September 2013 03:34 (twelve years ago)

Had some deliciousssssss tacos, this short rib pastrami thing with cabbage. Now I'm lying in bed, reading Borges and listening to the 8-disc female-fronted punk collection

when i was there it was his and justin langer's and some other dude's last hurrah at the ashes

langer srsly compared retirement to setting aside a mistress to return to his wife, but i canna get that article to render fully

mookieproof, Saturday, 28 September 2013 04:15 (twelve years ago)

what would you do if carlton played the raiders

mookieproof, Saturday, 28 September 2013 04:18 (twelve years ago)

i'd root for carlton; one elbow to the face & the current raiders would fold like a card table

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 28 September 2013 04:21 (twelve years ago)

do you know how to play bridge

mookieproof, Saturday, 28 September 2013 04:25 (twelve years ago)

nope

set the controls for the heart of the sun (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 28 September 2013 04:35 (twelve years ago)

Pizza and a beer, fell asleep on couch. Woke up to police car lighting it up twenty feet from my daughter's window, calmed her down, watched last fifteen minutes of Argo (with Cranston!), and am now in bed.

Not bad.

i had pizza for lunch at this awful COLLEGE CAMPUS place that's been around forever, major dude zone, the guy at the counter calls everyone "sir," should be called Patriarchy Bistro. the slices were basically very cheesy loaves of bread.

anonymous jazz majors (Matt P), Friday, 11 October 2013 22:54 (twelve years ago)

I wish I had pizza. I needed a snack just now and all I had was wholemeal pitta bread. I put peanut butter and lime pickle in it (ty based nood)

swmp thing (wins), Friday, 11 October 2013 22:55 (twelve years ago)

lol @ patriarchy bistro

swmp thing (wins), Friday, 11 October 2013 22:56 (twelve years ago)

Tonight I'll probably slit my wrists and read some David Foster Wallace, not necessarily in that order -- or any order. The concept of chaos always appealed to me.

Someone cross-post/thread-connect this with the Society is in the gutter thread.
