I guess I can see it working if there's a revolving assortment of funny/fucked-up clients and Saul is constantly putting out different fires. if they can maintain that balance of humor and "oh shit" moments that BB does best then it would be awesome, but I'm not really interested in learning more about Saul's backstory or personal life I don't think.

Saul interacting with women, on the rare occasions where he does so, is one of my favourite things about the character. Female clients would probably be funnier than romantic interests but the potential for giving him some kind of horrific ex-wife is there.

I think he's way more interested in $$s than women.

hey guys. in 2 weeks and 2 days this is all over. OVER.

looking forward to pretending i give a shit about boardwalk empire as it trundles into another season for 10 eps before a bit of action in the last two.

I started genuinely giving a shit about Boardwalk last season.

I did for a few near the end and I even enjoyed Sunday's one but I still really don't give a shit about it. It's good and all but it just has nothing particularly interesting about it.

It's a lavish, violently unhinged soap opera and I'm invested in quite a few of the characters now. Probably a convo for a different thread though.

i considered watching it until i found out Buscemi's character is named 'NUCKY'

i watched a few eps it was pretty boring and that olde timey colorization is unconscionable

boardwalk is great, i mean OMGGREAT but you gotta hang for at least half the first season for anything to really pay off.

and half the second. maybe not half the third.

agreed it doesn't really get rolling until midway through season 2 or so. the episode where Harrow goes out into the woods is A+

I got quite emotional about the ep where Harrow goes into the woods to commit suicide + the dog runs off with his mask.

Jeff and I watched the first season and I didn't hate it but I was glad when it was over and don't care what happens next. I am not sure why. It just didn't grab me despite my love of period dramas and familiarity with the geographical setting. That's usually enough to make me watch anything, too.

Oh you know part of it was an irrational hatred of 80% of the main characters. I didn't like spending any time with them. Also I get exhausted by the character arcs of women in realistic period shows. Historical accuracy is great but living vicariously in those times gets to me after awhile.

Margaret's whole story in s3 is about birth control. it was awesome.

I believe it! I just don't always want to be reminded that we're still fighting similar fights in 2013 as women were in 20s, you know? It's not the show, it's me.

I love Deadwood but every single female character with a speaking part has been raped/sexually abused by a family member at some point in her past (or present), not to mention the situation with the trafficked Chinese women and Christ. That's very realistic, Milch, but there's something to be said for good old escapism.

I am even a little lukewarm on Orange Is the New Black for similar reasons plus my white hot hatred for the US prison system. I get all torn up about the injustice of some of the women's incarceration and then I'm not having any fun and neither is anybody watching with me.

Basically I am that straw feminist who sucks all the fun out of everything. Hi!

Ha that is exactly my feelings but we've watched all the seasons and kind of begrudgingly waiting to watch the new one if it makes it onto UK netflix/telly. I like the interior design too. More than the head-kicking-in.

The design is gorgeous. Costumes, too! It is visually very appealing.

otm. But after trudging through the first season, I couldn't even tell you the names of the 2-3 main characters. There was very little, if anything, that I found engaging about it, other than the design.

It should really be a ViewMaster instead of an HBO series.
