The mighty Flynn has always brought us a little bit 'o' sunshine at just the right moments, but outdid himself when Saul showed up at the carwash: not only did the merry moment not detract from the momentum, somehow added to it, added some spin of elements (cue "Leader of the Laundromat"). of course it's probably gonna be one of his last happy encounters before all the crazy adults rain on his parade--but meanwhile, he lives his life as he should. One of the BB genius scenes.

Cranston gets most of the love but the last 13+ episodes of beaten down and destroyed Jesse have been A+ acting.

have a weird feeling that much of next episode will be 'meanwhile back in the states' and we won't get the 'meanwhile back in the jungle' reveal until late.
this sounds right. same pattern as the jesse arson cliffhanger maybe, or they might even return to the flash-forward... especially if hank and gomez are killed, it would be really weird for BB to jump right back into the action

For all those kvetching about bad shooting, note the similarly armored North Hollywood shootout perpetrators were shot up to 20 times in the legs before losing consciousness.
If the nazis had any military experience, they'd pin Hank & Gomie with the guys on the truck, and zip around with the sedan. Fire base and maneuver element.
The real issue for Hank and Gomez will be ammo supply. Both have run through at least one mag by the end of the episode, while I suspect the nazis so far are just using recreational amounts of lead.
Assuming Hank and Gomez haven't notified DEA compatriots, next episode, they run out and can't bluff, the Nazis move around, and off 'em.
If they notified someone else at the DEA of the location, then the Nazis have issues.
― Sanpaku, Thursday, 12 September 2013 03:31 (twelve years ago)
Once Hank and Gomez are behind some cover, wouldn't the thing to do be to call for backup?
Kind of weird, but this didn't actually occur to me till now. I have no idea how long it would take for that backup to arrive though. The nazis seemed to have made it there pretty quick.

The Nazis are pretty happy with their meth as it is - if they get to kill a couple of ZOG-supporting feds (who now know they're involved in Walt's meth operation), Walt can be collateral damage.
Nah they need Walt, Madrigal could go elsewhere for their meth if it isn't the blue stuff. Also Todd's thinking he won't get to bone Lydia unless he can make the blue meth. The one thing in Walt's favour is that no one involved would be willing to let him die (except maybe Jesse and he's the only guy without a gun).
Seems pretty obvious by now that Walt won't let Hank or Jesse die, or at least it's a red line he hasn't crossed yet. I can sort of see something happening next week that means that Walt, Jesse and Hank all have to work on the same side, especially when Hank finds out that the operation has gone way beyond Heisenberg now.
― Matt DC, Thursday, 12 September 2013 09:45 (twelve years ago)
kinda hoping the last scene is Todd telling his kids thesis how he met their mother as a kettle boils and he pours a cup of chamomile for Lydia.

so they're actually making a Better Call Saul spinoff show? I can't really picture how that's going to work.
― wk, Thursday, 12 September 2013 16:56 (twelve years ago)
its supposedly a prequel, from before Saul got to know Walt. Gus Fring is rumored to cameo.

AMC and Sony Pictures Television confirmed today that they have reached a licensing agreement for a spinoff of Vince Gilligan’s landmark AMC/SPT series Breaking Bad. As conceived, the new series is based on the show’s popular Saul Goodman character with the working title Better Call Saul. Plans call for Saul to be a one-hour prequel that will focus on the evolution of the popular Saul Goodman character before he ever became Walter White’s lawyer.
to be spearheaded by BB writer/producer Peter Gould

Jesse said 'bitch' in his phone rant to Walt. Could that be Aaron's favorite 'bitch' material? He's like a spoiled rockstar out of touch with his fans.

if they want to go totally badass they should have saul violently killed in the last episode of BB, and then launch better call saul as a prequel wacky comedy hijinks show

if it's a prequel, they should change the title to Saul Rising.

im sure it will be a half hour comedy. gilligan has enough tv smarts to know this wouldnt work at 1 hour

I guess I can see it working if there's a revolving assortment of funny/fucked-up clients and Saul is constantly putting out different fires. if they can maintain that balance of humor and "oh shit" moments that BB does best then it would be awesome, but I'm not really interested in learning more about Saul's backstory or personal life I don't think.
