I really don't know why I don't live in the PNW.

ashcans (askance johnson), Wednesday, 11 September 2013 19:04 (twelve years ago)

You Chicago summer haters got off relatively easy this year. As of 9/1, it has basically been an very average summer. The average temperature was 71.6° or .2° below average. Only 9 days were over 90 degrees, whereas 2012 had 40 days over 90 degrees.

I hope for my sake that the winter is mild.

Jeff, Wednesday, 11 September 2013 20:21 (twelve years ago)

looking forward to tomorrow killing Illinois summer dead

Euler, Wednesday, 11 September 2013 20:24 (twelve years ago)

you guys should try teaching two hour classes in unventilated rooms with 20 teenagers

my classrooms are all a/c'ed to the maxx, whole campus is chill as fukk, when i go to work i spend 12 hours there because it's better than going back to the melty world

j., Wednesday, 11 September 2013 20:28 (twelve years ago)

it's reassuring that carl and jeff can get along so well when the latter is so thoroughly wrong about weather

mookieproof, Wednesday, 11 September 2013 22:56 (twelve years ago)

WmC, Wednesday, 11 September 2013 22:58 (twelve years ago)

Hottest September day since 2010 apparently

i was at a conference in lisbon in july when it was 40c out, and much worse in the unventilated classrooms we were using. it made proceedings unusually mellow, i don't think anyone could be bothered expending energy getting into arguments.

Waluigi Nono (Merdeyeux), Thursday, 12 September 2013 02:23 (twelve years ago)

Work sent me to a customer site about 10 miles from my parents' house, so I've been staying there this week and hiding out in the air-conditioned basement. Apparently it was 97F in portland yesterday, and I'm glad I missed that. This is insane.

Oh, I'll see you and raise you by 4x70 minute classes with a couple of dozen tweens in a room with floor-to-ceiling windows along a forty foot wall. 107F and 99% humidity, wept so bad the grout between the cinderblocks began to weep ancient moisture

effervescent (soda), Thursday, 12 September 2013 02:48 (twelve years ago)

ok you win

although i would add that 18 yr olds smell appalling

caek, Thursday, 12 September 2013 05:23 (twelve years ago)

Tomorrow night it is going to go down to 48 degrees! Hallelujah.

carl agatha, Thursday, 12 September 2013 20:41 (twelve years ago)

Dark by 8pm, but still in 80s/90s UNACCEPTABLE. Come on, Autumn, I have a new jacket I wanna wear.

emilys., Friday, 13 September 2013 02:58 (twelve years ago)

it's only a (horrible and evil) blip, but it's set back the cause of tolerable subway stations by ~10 days

mookieproof, Friday, 13 September 2013 03:35 (twelve years ago)

It's 54 right now! It's going to be 64 toady! I wish I could hug this weather and tell it I love it so it would never leave.

carl agatha, Friday, 13 September 2013 12:41 (twelve years ago)

Don't call me toady!

three weeks pass...

inappropriate imo

mookieproof, Friday, 4 October 2013 18:44 (twelve years ago)

Totally unacceptable.

carl agatha, Friday, 4 October 2013 18:48 (twelve years ago)

Welcome to my world of the past 4 months, x4

quincie, Friday, 4 October 2013 19:33 (twelve years ago)

you chose that

i did not choose 85 in rocktober

mookieproof, Friday, 4 October 2013 19:40 (twelve years ago)

But on Sunday the high will be 60, it will be glorious!

when the second single is the title track (askance johnson), Friday, 4 October 2013 19:57 (twelve years ago)

I chose this because I stupidly bought into the "but it's a dry heat" fallacy. 1) It is not a fucking dry heat in August and September, it is the Baja rainy season and over 80% humidity every day and 2) even if it is a dry heat, fuck you 113 F.

quincie, Friday, 4 October 2013 20:19 (twelve years ago)

Supposed to have Santa Ana winds in LA today and Saturday, but so far not windy at all and not overly hot (82 w/ 30% humidty).

nickn, Friday, 4 October 2013 20:23 (twelve years ago)

why is San Diego 72 every day and Baja like 40 degrees hotter? 'sup with that

brownie, Saturday, 5 October 2013 02:44 (twelve years ago)

at least q got a sweet tan

mookieproof, Saturday, 5 October 2013 02:47 (twelve years ago)

i need a sweet tan

::dies from lack of Vitamin D::

brownie, Saturday, 5 October 2013 02:58 (twelve years ago)

On the one hand, I am happy about maybe going swimming at the lake this weekend. On the the other hand, wtf

emilys., Saturday, 5 October 2013 07:59 (twelve years ago)

If by "sweet tan" you mean "age spots popping up all over, possibly also melanoma" then yes, I have a sweet, sweet tan.

Brownie, I'm about 1000 miles south of SD, near the Tropic of Cancer (ha!). The pool is now in the high 80s instead of the mid-90s, so I guess there is hope that I might not die.

quincie, Saturday, 5 October 2013 15:29 (twelve years ago)

this weather is so rude

Stevie D(eux), Saturday, 5 October 2013 16:08 (twelve years ago)

who invited her

Stevie D(eux), Saturday, 5 October 2013 16:08 (twelve years ago)

I'm just thrilled that in 3 months the tourists will have left NYC for the winter. End of the World Series til January 2 is the most vile nine weeks of the year.

WHHHHYYYYYY IS IT SO HAAAAWT. Ugh I want to bake things, this is terrible.

Tottenham Heelspur (in orbit), Saturday, 5 October 2013 16:27 (twelve years ago)

i am going to ikea :-(

caek, Saturday, 5 October 2013 16:28 (twelve years ago)

It's so insanely humid today. I just slowly walked a half mile and I am covered in a visible layer of slimy condensation.

I mean, we never take the AC units out until November bc every October is warmer and grosser than I want it to be and yet I am offended to my core every time.

carl agatha, Saturday, 5 October 2013 17:37 (twelve years ago)

I'm sitting in my room SWEATING. My skin is an oil slick. Hot coffee is distasteful. It's all gone monkey-sided and I hate it.

Tottenham Heelspur (in orbit), Saturday, 5 October 2013 17:48 (twelve years ago)

Just carrying my laundry to the Laundromat drenched my shirt in visible sweat.

On the bright side, I am finally able to get a decent data connection here, which will surely make doing laundry more tolerable.

when the second single is the title track (askance johnson), Saturday, 5 October 2013 17:53 (twelve years ago)

one month passes...

Well, I guess spring is finally here in sunny Los Angeles.

Dunno. Heard it was autumn, so I took out my warm pyjamas. Then started wearing my swimming trunks with a sweater and socks. Then I replaced the sweater with a t-shirt. Even in winter, I don't normally wear socks to bed, so I've no idea what I was thinking.

Actually, I've no idea what I was thinking taking out my PJs.

That's earthquake weath... uh, sorry.

nickn, Monday, 20 July 2015 06:23 (ten years ago)

I'm not worried about earthquakes really, no place not subject to some violent geological or hydrological disaster or other. But hot weather in a town with no A/C makes me ill.
