i would agree this seems more like jesse's fate now
― r|t|c, Tuesday, 10 September 2013 12:21 (twelve years ago)
I'm also thinking that all the pieces are in play now. Be very surprised to see more Madrigal or whomever pop up. Basically it's Walt, Jesse, Hank/Marie, Skyler/Walt's family, Nazis/Lydia and whatever drama is about to occur is going to be between those players.
― One bad call from barely losing to (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 10 September 2013 12:23 (twelve years ago)
It's about time for these guys to show up thenhttp://xfinity.comcast.net/blogs/tv/files/2010/02/templemaster300.jpg
― kinder, Tuesday, 10 September 2013 12:26 (twelve years ago)
Been enjoying the show from the start, and always willing to suspend disbelief, but I'm not sure how down I am with yet another deus ex Nazi. Those rewatching, did any of these highly organized, highly militarized knuckleheads merit even a passing mention before Todd offered that his uncle had the capability to off 10 Federal witness in a synchronized prison hit?
Want to know if the show is messing with us. As soon as Hank told Gomie "you stay here," I told my wife, oh, he;s a goner. And then Hank calls Marie and tells he he loves her, and I thought, oh, Hank must be a goner. I guess Gomie is really the only one the show can afford to knock off with impunity. The others are more important moral cogs. Unless Hank buys it, and Skyler suddenly turns off the weekend warrior Lady MacBeth act.
― Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 10 September 2013 12:32 (twelve years ago)
hank will get it, gomie survives to put skyler & son in witness protection, jesse shacks up with marie (nb may not occur), walt escapes but is hunted for the recipe, per flashforward plots redemptive vigilante vengeance on nazis and/or madrigal, succeeds, dies, the end
― r|t|c, Tuesday, 10 September 2013 12:41 (twelve years ago)
maybe they are just criminals with swastika tattoos.
― Wantaway striker (LocalGarda), Tuesday, September 10, 2013 5:55 AM (3 hours ago) Bookmark Flag Post Permalink
ya this is my understanding based on inscisive msnbc documentary films, they are m/l just a prison gang
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 10 September 2013 13:04 (twelve years ago)
If they have swastikas on their necks and have organized connections in prison, they are probably implied to be Aryan brotherhood, no mere prison gang but more like a white power mafia. The thing is, if these guys are openly branded Nazis, kill people all the time with impunity, amass massive automatic weapon stores and have ties to violent associates/criminals in prison, then I find it hard to believe they are not being monitored/watched by the Feds 24/7. They are literally as conspicuous as it gets.
― Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 10 September 2013 13:25 (twelve years ago)
Dear New Mexico police, watch these obviously bad people, thanks, the public.
― Josh in Chicago, Tuesday, 10 September 2013 13:26 (twelve years ago)
the thing abt the brotherhood is many of of them arent really committed to white power they just join the gang in prison for typical reasons
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 10 September 2013 13:30 (twelve years ago)
from what i've read it's just another prison gang, ppl join them for protection, not because they love hitler
s1ocki part otm a year ago. prison nazis are still racist gangs for sure but they're not like ideological nazis. (this is not exculpatory of gross racism obv it's just like a technicality.) Josh also otm, these guys don't really move beneath the radar outside of prison - they tend to get arrested quickly when they get out, and also very few of them ever get out in the first place - this is a gang that was formed by lifers for protection while serving very long sentences
― combination hair (underrated aerosmith bootlegs I have owned), Tuesday, 10 September 2013 13:32 (twelve years ago)
so yr swastikas and whatnot are more abt a connection to the gang than to being a nazi or whatever, im sure many of them are quite retrograde racists, but theyre really much more abt being a criminal gang than advancing the interests of the white race
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 10 September 2013 13:33 (twelve years ago)
Listening to the guys' conversations they seem more libertarian/survivalist than full on neo-Nazi. That being said I'm sure they're not the most tolerant of different cultures and lifestyles.
― I wish to incorporate disco into my small business (chap), Tuesday, 10 September 2013 13:33 (twelve years ago)
apparently they do have a p good network outside of of prison tho, i saw some doc abt them ordering all sorts of killings and everything
― lag∞n, Tuesday, 10 September 2013 13:34 (twelve years ago)
The group has an alliance[13] with La Eme (the Mexican Mafia) as the two are mutual enemies of Black Guerrilla Family. According to a federal indictment, the AB has partnered with Asian gangs to import heroin from Thailand.
racial issues and white power issues definitely secondary to gang and crime concerns, suggests wikipedia.
― dan selzer, Tuesday, 10 September 2013 13:38 (twelve years ago)
According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the gang makes up less than 0.1% of the prison population, but it is responsible for up to 20% of murders in the federal prison system
obv vince gilligan has been reading his wikipedia.
― Wantaway striker (LocalGarda), Tuesday, 10 September 2013 13:41 (twelve years ago)
They are literally as conspicuous as it gets.
They might as well put a big label on the side of the barrel trailer "Acme Nazi Methylamine".
― Damo Suzuki's Parrot, Tuesday, 10 September 2013 13:42 (twelve years ago)
well they are pretty cautious its not like they just walk around in public w blood all over them discussing their criminal exploits loudly in diners

In BB world you can pretty much wave a meth lab/ordnance stockpile right under the nose of the Albuquerque police without them even noticing.

Since I'm guessing they are not going with the obvious outcome of this gunfight, I'm going to guess that Hank dies and Gomie lives.
That way, Walt pays the price for something he's done (i.e. someone from his family dying) but he's still got someone from the DEA after him who knows everything.
― silverfish, Tuesday, 10 September 2013 14:38 (twelve years ago)
Speaking as a dude who deals w/plenty of bikers and creepy dudes via the music industry, I think some of you are overrating the likelihood that swastika/bolts tattoos rocket you to the top of the FBI watch list.

My theory is that with all of the horrible "aim" and "missed" shots of the last scene, Jesse has actually used the rest of his money to buy Walt "The Game" for his birthday.

i could kinda see a callback to walt saving jesse from the dealers happening now where jesse, piqued by being called a coward, drives the car into the nazis
maybe that's too ~on the nose~ idk
― r|t|c, Tuesday, September 10, 2013 6:36 AM (4 hours ago) Bookmark Flag Post Permalink
nah i think this will happen too mostly because its the only thing I remember Walt yelling about in his driving rant.
Maybe Jesse saves Walt or maybe Hank and Walt and squishes the Nazi's with the exception of our favorite li'l opie hitler, who then commences a chilled out warpath true to his sociopathic self.
― "Max's Original Starship" Vol. 3 (sunny successor), Tuesday, 10 September 2013 16:35 (twelve years ago)
Walt drove into two guys on foot, and came speeding at them out of nowhere. Jesse has to turn the car around, back up to get some speed, and drive directly at a pickup full of Nazis with machine guns. Don't think it works.
Jesse might be able to do something to help hank and gomie and walt - but ramming his car into the Nazis seems like an unwise
― brio, Tuesday, 10 September 2013 16:45 (twelve years ago)
if the next episode turns into Jesse biffing Nazis with a supercar and Marie chatting with Charlie Rose it will be a huge bummer
― brio, Tuesday, 10 September 2013 16:48 (twelve years ago)
you're a huge bummer
― Ward Fowler, Tuesday, 10 September 2013 18:09 (twelve years ago)
what if Jesse yells "supercar, bitch!" and marie tells charlie rose she's a working mother looking to buy a house
― da croupier, Tuesday, 10 September 2013 18:20 (twelve years ago)
re whether or not the nazis are nazi-nazis or just prison-nazi militia types, i noticed that the implausibly huge mug lydia's drinking from has a frayed american flag and 'these colors don't run' written on it - does that have some specific nationalist connotation?

I think todd is an awesome character, but he also seems ridiculously implausible to me. how did he grow up around all of these nazi meth dudes but end up with the polite, well-mannered demeanor of a mormon farmboy?

― brio, Tuesday, 10 September 2013 19:36 (twelve years ago)
I watched the episode, and I have to say I don't think Hank'll die. It's true that his talk with Marie had all the elements of the type "everything's going to be great, honey" speech movies and TV love to do when they want to make someone's death more tragic, and on top of that there was the shot of the "brains" in the garbage can (couldn't really be any more symbolic than that!), so obviously I thought Hank was gonna die... But then the episode ended before he did, and I don't think it'll happen in the next episode either. If they were gonna kill Hank, it would've been a dramatic moment right at the end of the episode, no way are they gonna start the next one with "oh, and btw, Hank dies". So I guess the speech and the brains were there just to fuck with audience expectations.
― Tuomas, Tuesday, 10 September 2013 20:36 (twelve years ago)
Exactly what I said.
― dan selzer, Tuesday, 10 September 2013 20:38 (twelve years ago)
I mean, basically the rules for any TV drama are that supporting and minor characters can die in the beginning or middle of the episode, but main character deaths always happen at the end. So, when this episode didn't end with Hank's death, I knew he's gonna survive the shootout, because the next one isn't gonna start with him dying.
