clearly Charlie Rose plays Saul's brother, is incidental to the plot, and only serves to set up his recurring character in the spin-off.

I don't know why anyone thinks they have enough knowledge of Huell's character to confidently say he wouldn't crack in that situation. Saul isn't hiring bodyguards for their brains and we haven't seen Huell in any situation when he hasn't been pretty much the fat clown.

The only thing I'm not quite buying is why Walt would have ordered a hit on Jesse in the first place, he's obviously a liability for him but Walt is arrogant enough to still believe in his powers of persuasion here. Walt bottling the hit makes a lot more sense obviously and I'm prepared to forgive them when it sets up a cliffhanger like that.

Walt fucked up SO many times in this episode. If only he'd noticed that Jesse was calling him "Walt" and not "Mr White" on the phone, he'd have known something was up.

From the moment Hank called Marie I'm sure everyone in the world knew what was about to happen and I genuinely expected to see him gunned down by the end of the episode.

Jesse is obviously the person in the best position here given he's in the car and not handcuffed, and we know Walt gets away. Otherwise holy shit.

It's probably more likely to be Walt given that he's handcuffed in the car. They'd have to kill both Hank and Gomie for that to happen and having Hank gunned down by a load of Nazi dudes would feel like a cheap end for the character.

also it is weird to me that the final level boss fight bad guys of breaking bad are nazis. feel like it's weird that everybody is just like "okay there's nazis now." i mean i know they were there at the end of last season but the sudden nazi prominence seems weird to me!

The final level Boss Fight guy is Walt, the Nazis are just the guys doing his dirty work. Obviously Walt is also the hero at the same time, that's kind of why this show is great.

on a more serious note i agree it is a bit weird with the nazis, the show seems to be reluctant to depict them as disgusting hate criminals, or maybe it doesn't have the time, or maybe they are just criminals with swastika tattoos.

I think they're mainly there to illustrate how debased Walt has become in his choice of allies/henchmen, but they may well just be garden variety thugs who also happen to be into white power shit.

yeah i agree, just they don't really illustrate that too effectively because it hasn't had time to flesh them out much. like, i dunno, are neo-nazis generally more psychotic than other criminal gangs? maybe i'm being prejudiced against them.

I think it's just meth = bikers = white guys with dubious politics/tattoos. I guess having a character with a swastika on his neck is a quick way of saying 'these guys are baddies, and probably aren't that smart so you can expect them to fuck up whatever situation we put them in'.

On a different subject - it struck me seeing Walt and Skyler outside the car wash that they now dress exactly like all the guests at that Grey Matter birthday party thing from ages ago.

i was terrified, but when they started firing 100s of rounds without hitting anything the tension kinda dissipated for me

I think this is what's happening unfortunately.

i guess jesse could die in the next ep, as a sort of curveball.

Can see Gomie getting killed and Jesse haring off in the car with Hank bleeding in it.

One of the few things we know is that there's no one involved in the shootout who can risk Walt getting killed so maybe he'll do something really insane like just walking out into the middle of it.

Assuming he's not locked in the car obviously.

End of next episode has to at least be the setup to the flash-forward I would think so you basically have two hours to end this. Otherwise it seems like they won't have enough time to set up the flash-forward and then do whatever is needed to do to get the pieces where they need to be for whatever final showdown is going to occur.

I feel like they've set up Hank dying now so I wouldn't be shocked to see him and Gomie get it plus I don't see what more Hank can contribute to the story.

Been enjoying the show from the start, and always willing to suspend disbelief, but I'm not sure how down I am with yet another deus ex Nazi. Those rewatching, did any of these highly organized, highly militarized knuckleheads merit even a passing mention before Todd offered that his uncle had the capability to off 10 Federal witness in a synchronized prison hit?

Want to know if the show is messing with us. As soon as Hank told Gomie "you stay here," I told my wife, oh, he;s a goner. And then Hank calls Marie and tells he he loves her, and I thought, oh, Hank must be a goner. I guess Gomie is really the only one the show can afford to knock off with impunity. The others are more important moral cogs. Unless Hank buys it, and Skyler suddenly turns off the weekend warrior Lady MacBeth act.

hank will get it, gomie survives to put skyler & son in witness protection, jesse shacks up with marie (nb may not occur), walt escapes but is hunted for the recipe, per flashforward plots redemptive vigilante vengeance on nazis and/or madrigal, succeeds, dies, the end

ya this is my understanding based on inscisive msnbc documentary films, they are m/l just a prison gang

If they have swastikas on their necks and have organized connections in prison, they are probably implied to be Aryan brotherhood, no mere prison gang but more like a white power mafia. The thing is, if these guys are openly branded Nazis, kill people all the time with impunity, amass massive automatic weapon stores and have ties to violent associates/criminals in prison, then I find it hard to believe they are not being monitored/watched by the Feds 24/7. They are literally as conspicuous as it gets.
