or maybe they'll take out good will squinting

Ted Beneke will show up and defeat the nazis with his super embezzling powers.

Shart Week (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Monday, 9 September 2013 19:04 (twelve years ago)

no way, there's a whole lotta mileage to be had in the todd-lydia coffee mug saga

a hard dom is good to find (Edward III), Monday, 9 September 2013 19:05 (twelve years ago)

Walt's ranted confession was a bit dumb, his anger and all not withstanding.

Wantaway striker (LocalGarda), Monday, 9 September 2013 19:05 (twelve years ago)

It IS weird that Todd would suddenly become a total shooting peon after taking out the kid in stone cold fashion

Nhex, Monday, 9 September 2013 19:06 (twelve years ago)

lydia's double clutch was perfect

no fomo (La Lechera), Monday, 9 September 2013 19:06 (twelve years ago)

Never seen Sopranos,

Sopranos is def one long narrative. so are the (much shittier) Lost and BSG

Sex and the City too

what's up ugly girls? (Shakey Mo Collier), Monday, 9 September 2013 19:15 (twelve years ago)

if gomie and hank disappear and their phones go dead, the DEA's going to probably talk to the guy hank just put in a DEA safehouse - even if the guy guarding him has no clue what's up and it was off the books.

also Marie's not going to cover anything up if Hank goes missing - she'll tell them everything she knows like she's been bugging Hank to do - the only thing keeping them quiet was Walt's fake-out confession hurting Hank's career which is kind of moot if he's dead

Can't see how the DEA isn't on the hunt for Walt and Jesse next episode, probably Lydia too.

brio, Monday, 9 September 2013 19:20 (twelve years ago)

Lydia seems pretty insulated, no? I thought the Madrigal investigation closed it off

Nhex, Monday, 9 September 2013 19:22 (twelve years ago)

how does all of albuquerque know about heisenberg if hank and gomie are dead? there's gotta be something more. marie can't break it by herself... maybe skyler goes into witness protection after walt goes missing?

fennel cartwright, Monday, 9 September 2013 19:24 (twelve years ago)

xpost - maybe Lydia's insulated but I don't think it'll be too fleshed-out anyway because they don't have time to introduce a bunch of new DEA characters - more just a general "the cops are coming down on us" thing for the major characters

brio, Monday, 9 September 2013 19:26 (twelve years ago)

how does all of albuquerque know about heisenberg

as I've said repeatedly on this thread, this is a huge assumption

what's up ugly girls? (Shakey Mo Collier), Monday, 9 September 2013 19:29 (twelve years ago)

guys all it will take is one charlie rose expose and heisenberg is a household name

a hard dom is good to find (Edward III), Monday, 9 September 2013 19:31 (twelve years ago)

I can see Marie being purple with rage over these developments.

first I think it's time I kick a little verse! (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Monday, 9 September 2013 19:33 (twelve years ago)

everyone will be shocked by charlie rose's surprisingly authentic Czech accent

Never seen Sopranos

you simply must, please do not delay

lag∞n, Monday, 9 September 2013 19:37 (twelve years ago)

Yeah, there's no indication everyone knows Walt is Heisenberg by the end.
I'm betting Walt Jr paints the Heisenberg graffiti. The writing's all goofy.

brio, Monday, 9 September 2013 19:42 (twelve years ago)

or the nazis do it. or Jesse does. or Marie. This whole speculative "the media exposes Walt!" thing seems really farfetched (and stupid) to me.

what's up ugly girls? (Shakey Mo Collier), Monday, 9 September 2013 19:44 (twelve years ago)

Walt painted it. It's for forwarding his mail.

dan selzer, Monday, 9 September 2013 19:45 (twelve years ago)

the graffiti plus the fenced off house plus the neighbors reaction plus walt on the lam are the evidence for him having been exposed

lag∞n, Monday, 9 September 2013 19:50 (twelve years ago)

there are simpler/more plausible explanations for each of those beyond THE MEDIA

what's up ugly girls? (Shakey Mo Collier), Monday, 9 September 2013 19:52 (twelve years ago)

not really sure what you mean by that but ok

lag∞n, Monday, 9 September 2013 19:53 (twelve years ago)

oh plus charlie rose

lag∞n, Monday, 9 September 2013 19:53 (twelve years ago)

various people have suggested on this thread that somehow Walt's identity becomes public knowledge - to his neighbors, to the skaters, to whoever spraypaints the graffiti - that's what I'm disagreeing about.

the Charlie Rose thing is a little o_0 tho

what's up ugly girls? (Shakey Mo Collier), Monday, 9 September 2013 19:55 (twelve years ago)

there could be other explanations but walts criminality being exposed is actually the

lag∞n, Monday, 9 September 2013 20:00 (twelve years ago)

simplest

lag∞n, Monday, 9 September 2013 20:00 (twelve years ago)

yeah, how many peeps watch Charlie Rose anyway? Here's a lazy question--I could burrow into AMC's official recaps---does the Czech connection's concern with purity (assuming it's their concern, and not just Lydia's own possibly meth-tinged compulsiveness/fear) have to do with an international smuggling operation, or just reputation/price-control in the USA? If the former, seems like somebody in Europe could handle the wizardly cooking. If the latter, as Jesse long ago pointed out, "We have some of the least picky customers ever."
(Concern w purity also seems like why Gus never should have bothers w Walt in first place, except he saw a way to leap past his xth place rivalry w cartels and the lord who killed his original cook/partner)

lydia's lifetime moment

no fomo (La Lechera), Monday, 9 September 2013 20:03 (twelve years ago)

neighbour's reaction could just be that he's disappeared, possibly presumed dead, his family is gone and the house has been taken over by skaters and he suddenly shows up looking like travis bickle with cancer

charlie rose is trickier to discount - but it could be anything, not necessarily hank being national news (and if that was it, why charlie rose? someone talking about a high school chemistry teacher turned meth king seems like an unlikely charlie rose interview subject)

brio, Monday, 9 September 2013 20:04 (twelve years ago)

I dunno the show constructing a realistic media narrative around Walt would mean having to admit that tons of Walt's story is wildly unrealistic/implausible - cuz why else would the media run with such a story except for the fact that it's so bonkers. which would just be a) shitty writing imho and b) a clumsy way to maneuver all these other vague pieces ("the public") against Walt

what's up ugly girls? (Shakey Mo Collier), Monday, 9 September 2013 20:05 (twelve years ago)

I think by the end everything has blown over and Walt is back to tutoring local teens, using the walls of his living room as a blackboard (this week's lesson is on Heisenberg). At recess his students skate in the back yard.

this was cracking me up so bad

kinder, Monday, 9 September 2013 20:09 (twelve years ago)

so youre saying everything the media covers is wildly unrealistic, like in real life xp

lag∞n, Monday, 9 September 2013 20:10 (twelve years ago)

Walt ironically hailed media star--Associated Press: " 'In the future', Andy Warhol predicted, 'Everyone will be famous for 15 minutes.' "

totally setting up walt jr being on Saul's Fair, I'm telling ya.

also Jesse
"big ORANGE flames"

kinder, Monday, 9 September 2013 20:14 (twelve years ago)

So do the Nazis know who Hank is? They could use some leverage to force Walt to cook - they know he cares for Jesse, but I can't remember if they know Hank is family or what, or if they think they're helping him by killing Hank.

kinder, Monday, 9 September 2013 20:15 (twelve years ago)

and the irony is that Walt's home free because he didn't say 'yes' he understands the miranda rights. That's what I learned from the TV show 'Dexter'.

kinder, Monday, 9 September 2013 20:18 (twelve years ago)

I was joking about charlie rose btw

just think about what a media story about Walt would read/look like

underappreciated post, imho

JACK SQUAT about these Charlie Nobodies (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Monday, 9 September 2013 20:23 (twelve years ago)

the reasoning Walt gave the Nazis for having Jesse killed was basically Saul's Old Yeller bit, right?

Waluigi Nono (Merdeyeux), Monday, 9 September 2013 20:24 (twelve years ago)

^^^

yeah that was funny

what's up ugly girls? (Shakey Mo Collier), Monday, 9 September 2013 20:24 (twelve years ago)

i don't think the nazis need "reasoning" beyond "here's some $$$"

JACK SQUAT about these Charlie Nobodies (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Monday, 9 September 2013 20:25 (twelve years ago)

if only Walt had given Huell's disappearance a little more thought, he might not have taken the bait

what's up ugly girls? (Shakey Mo Collier), Monday, 9 September 2013 20:25 (twelve years ago)

I like that Walt was still defending hime. "He's not a rat!"

dan selzer, Monday, 9 September 2013 20:26 (twelve years ago)

They've barely got time to close off all the existing narrative threads without setting up and playing out a whole new angle about the media and Walt being exposed. Everything from here on in has to be life-or-death stakes . Walt's going to die - and we know pretty soon he's running around with a big fucking gun and some ricin. What Carol or the skaters or ABQ knows isn't important to any of that so they won't waste time on it.

brio, Monday, 9 September 2013 20:26 (twelve years ago)

^^
they've had their fun with the media with Jane's dad
