if they just recorded the call theyd have walt admitting to murder and wouldnt have even needed to go to the desert and get killed
― lag∞n, Monday, 9 September 2013 14:12 (twelve years ago)
i dont think they couldve tracked the cell on their own they mustve just followed him
― lag∞n, Monday, 9 September 2013 14:13 (twelve years ago)
so why DID the nazis turn up anyway? just because they didn't want walt out of their grasp?
― Waluigi Nono (Merdeyeux), Monday, 9 September 2013 14:18 (twelve years ago)
They needed him for a cook, and Walt suddenly and frantically telling them the deal's off may have made them think that some other team snagged Walt.
― Shart Week (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Monday, 9 September 2013 14:20 (twelve years ago)
they believed he was in trouble imo
― combination hair (underrated aerosmith bootlegs I have owned), Monday, 9 September 2013 14:22 (twelve years ago)
you cant just act all weird and uncall a bunch of murderous psychos
― lag∞n, Monday, 9 September 2013 14:22 (twelve years ago)
It was pure TV though. You knew they'd show up and do some Ark of the Covenant destruction.
― first I think it's time I kick a little verse! (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Monday, 9 September 2013 14:24 (twelve years ago)
yeah I think Nazis just showed up because "why not? we've got our guns out and we want walt alive" though firing a million rounds into the car he's in seems pretty dumb if that's the case. But then, they are really dumb and violent so pretty much makes sense.
the whole cell phone tracking thing was a definitely dodgy - aren't you only able to track to the nearest cell tower, not exact gps? and would there even be a nearby cell tower in the middle of the desert? I don't know - maybe
but agree a lot of this stuff didn't bother me much during the show itself - I'll accept they're going to have to take some short-cuts to get the full arc in this season and it's fun when they really ratchet things up, as they've done in the final 3 episodes in the past
― brio, Monday, 9 September 2013 14:25 (twelve years ago)
I think they're going to give Walt some measure of redemption.
also yeah - Cranston's physical performance is telegraphing this I think, the (slightly, beautifully imo) exaggerated awkwardness when he's crouching down in the car and cringing, the easing-back of swaggering Heisenberg into bumbling, cancer-stricken Walt. I think we're going to be reminded that there was a high school teacher who was fucked up inside the guy we now know, but who was a dad with decent fatherly impulses that are inextricably bound up with narcissism etc but which are still in there.
― combination hair (underrated aerosmith bootlegs I have owned), Monday, 9 September 2013 14:25 (twelve years ago)
basically he needs to stop wearing the Heisenberg hat to return to normal
― first I think it's time I kick a little verse! (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Monday, 9 September 2013 14:26 (twelve years ago)
maybe the ayrans dont really mind if walt is dies tho
― lag∞n, Monday, 9 September 2013 14:27 (twelve years ago)
don't get me wrong w/ the cell question, I'm totally fine suspending disbelief. Didn't bother me that he buried those drums.
― dan selzer, Monday, 9 September 2013 14:28 (twelve years ago)
well, we have to believe that Walt's blue meth recipe is as ultra-special as the formula for Coke.

is his stuff the kind you learn from teaching basic chemistry for years? Couldn't the Gestapo kidnap another nebbishy chem teacher?
― first I think it's time I kick a little verse! (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Monday, 9 September 2013 14:29 (twelve years ago)
im sure theyd like to have him cook for them but pretty much everyone who deals w walt comes to the conclusion that hes really not worth it
― lag∞n, Monday, 9 September 2013 14:31 (twelve years ago)
xposts
yeah, dying loser walt is definitely back... it's really worth going back to re-watch the pilot episode from the first season if you're really into the show now - i think they've been echoing it a lot in recent episodes
― brio, Monday, 9 September 2013 14:31 (twelve years ago)
i mean hes acting all weird they go and check it out and hes been arrested and now they have to kill cops
( Alfred, there'a a whole origin storyline, referenced when his ex showed up; he was a chemistry whiz who left his original enterprise, because his partners wouldn't bow down)They must have been following Walt for a while, to get there so quickly. But--unless they were waiting near the carwash--may have had some tracking equipment--taken from HQ or local spy shop. not hard to find those in the citay nowadays. Anyway, I was thinking a couple of reasons whul Walt despairs as soon as he sees them: he figures they may well have recorded his freak-out, maybe co-ordinates too, and could have emailed this stuff (counter to the "confession" video). Even if they didn't, which would fit this ep's whole heat-of-the-moment theme, where nobody's capable of chess moves, apparently; still, Hank has informed THE LADY In PURPLE OMG
― dow, Monday, 9 September 2013 14:34 (twelve years ago)
I doubt that it will come down to Walt trying to save Jesse, not after he's gone far enough to put out a hit on him.
― dow, Monday, 9 September 2013 14:36 (twelve years ago)
yah they couldve thrown a tracking device on his car right before calling him
― lag∞n, Monday, 9 September 2013 14:36 (twelve years ago)

I know but you'd think Germans would look at this guy's uh CV since 2008 and realize he's more trouble than he's worth.

really cool behind-the-scenes clip about the making of the shootout scene (no spoilers that i can tell)
in terms of just straight up technical direction, this sequence was completely flawless

A bit worried that it'll come down more to bang-bang than character, but no ending could ruin this show.

uh-oh just remembered that when Charlie Rose interviewed Gilligan, he mentioned that he (Rose, not Gilligan) was in an upcoming ep. Gilligan didn't like/deny this.

if the last episode closes on a montage with the Flaming Lips "Do You Realize?" playing I do think that would invalidate all the good work the show had previously done

yeah, Walt Jr being starstruck seeing Saul was funny. ABQ must be really low on celebrities.

Hopefully the epic "Bitch!" Aaron Paul talked about is directed at Charlie Rose.

well they've got him on record confessing to at least four murders so Walt is fucked and we can assume somehow he gets out of the shootout and goes on the lam/new identity etc. seems unlikely that anybody is actually going to die in the shootout, I would expect some weird parity is achieved - Nazis grab Walt, Hank/Gomie/Jesse get away.

I dunno, I really liked the eps, hearkened back to the zany pace of earlier seasons when walt was flying by the seat of his pants, but the gunfight was kinda ridic. I'm no firearms expert but a guy with a pistol standing behind a truck going against a bunch of dudes w/ machine guns... seems like that battle is not going to rage for very long.
